- Slates or tiles shifted by high winds
- Ponding and splits on a high flat roof
- Chimney tops in poor condition
Prices for drone roof surveys in Hawridge
Survey packages start from £150, with VAT included. What you pay for your roof depends on:
- How big the roof is
- Whether thermal imaging or a drone is needed
- Basic, Standard or Premium
- Features like valleys, chimneys, dormers and parapets
Our price is from £400, including VAT. What you pay depends on how big and how high the roof is, how it can be seen safely and which survey you book.
Helping us price your survey
To price your survey accurately, we’ll ask about:
- What kind of property and roof it is
- The reason for the survey, such as buying, a leak or storm damage
- Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
- The property’s address and postcode
Photos help, if you have them. Pictures from the ground or a window are fine. To send them or to book, call 07833 053749 or send us an email.
Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Hawridge
Tall, steep, large or fragile roofs cannot always be inspected up close. A drone takes close-up photos of those roofs from the air. It shows coverings, ridges, chimneys, valleys and gutters clearly. Everything we find goes into a written report with photos. It’s also a good option where walking on the roof could break slates or tiles. Where a flight isn’t possible, we explain why. We’re often asked to look into standing water on a flat roof and plant growth and moss on the roof, on valleys and parapet gutters, chimney stacks and fragile roofs.
Villages like Hawridge often stand in open country, where wind can be strong. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or a downpour, and thermal imaging works best with little wind. The visit is planned around the forecast, along with the journey and access. A change in the forecast can mean moving the visit to another day.
Nothing in the report is left vague: where something needs attention, it says so plainly.

What else we do in Hawridge
Why act early in Hawridge
Faults on high roofs tend to be found late. By then, timbers, ceilings and insulation may be wet. A drone survey finds them sooner. For an older or listed building in a place like Hawridge, repairs may need matching materials and consent, so leaving a defect until it’s urgent leaves less time to plan.
Larger roofs, taller buildings and commercial roofs take longer, so the price reflects that. The price is confirmed before booking.
Why us?
- Plain-English reports with photos
- Prices that include VAT
- More than 5,000 surveys completed
- Professional indemnity and public liability insurance
What we are asked to look at in Hawridge
Large roofs take a long time to see on foot. A drone can photograph a large roof methodically, showing patterns of wear that are hard to spot up close. That gives a clearer picture of the roof as a whole.
Here are some of the things we see often:
- Worn lead at chimneys and walls
- Debris building up in hidden gutters
- Cracked mortar along the ridge
- Flat roofs on upper floors that hold water
Take a building like Hawridge and Cholesbury Church of England School: big roofs are where close-up aerial shots and thermal images show the most at once.
Before you book anyone
- Their drone registration, if they fly one
- What’s outside the scope of the survey
- How long they’ve been surveying roofs
- How they’ll see the roof: from ground level, the loft, the roof or by drone
Common questions in Hawridge
Are there drone restrictions around Hawridge?
It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. Strong wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.
Do you cover smaller places like Hawridge?
Yes, Hawridge is covered. We cover the whole of London and South East England, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
Which days do you carry out surveys?
We survey on any day from Monday to Sunday, during the day, which suits people who work during the week. Just say which days work for you.
Are you insured?
Our cover is professional indemnity plus public liability, and details are available on request.
Do you take photos of the roof?
Yes, plenty. Pictures sit next to the findings they show.
Can you survey a shared roof?
Yes. A shared roof needs access agreed first. Let us know about it as you book and we will explain what’s needed.
When does the report arrive?
Each package has its own report time. Basic is within 48 hours, Standard is 24–48 hours and Premium is the same day. If you have a deadline, like an exchange date, tell us when booking.
Airspace, weather and Hawridge roofs
Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight. Historic houses such as Cholesbury Manor House, about 0.9 miles west, show how far back building in the area around Hawridge goes. Older roofs in the wider area can hide decades of patch repairs, so the detail matters, and a listed home or one in a conservation area may need consent for changes of material.
If your home is one of the older ones in the streets near Church of St Mary, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.

Landmarks near Hawridge
Locally, jobs take us to homes and businesses close to The Rose & Crown pub and the streets around them. For rail, the closest station is Berkhamsted station, roughly 3.2 miles east. Checking the roof from ground level
Your own check is a good start, but it is not a survey. From the ground, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are often out of sight, and those are details a survey looks at closely.
Keep a simple record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Share it with us as you book.
What this survey cannot tell you
To be straight with you, there are limits to any roof survey:
- Flights in a restricted zone without permission
- What’s under the slates, tiles or felt
- A structural engineer’s report
If you are not sure which survey you need, phone 07833 053749 or email us and we will give you a straight answer. What our survey covers.

What we do, step by step
Expect us to ask a few questions before we start, like when any problem began and what work has been done before. Then the inspection itself takes about one to two hours on an ordinary house, while a commercial roof takes nearer three to four hours. Somewhere like Hawridge needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. On the day, we inspect what can safely be seen, inside and out.
- We confirm whether a drone suits your roof.
- We agree a date, including weekends, subject to the weather.
- We fly over the roof, keeping the camera on the property we are surveying.
- Where there is safe access, we check the loft as well.
- Everything is written up, with the aerial photos and our advice.
How to prepare
- Make a note of anything you’d like us to look at
- Keep pets inside or away from the areas we are looking at
- If it isn’t your property yet, arrange access through the agent
