What happens on the day

Once we have finished looking, we write up our findings in a report with photos, emailed to you. On timing, most surveys take between one and two hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Older roofs in small places like Leckhampstead can have low, tight loft spaces, so it helps to know whether there’s a loft hatch and how easy it is to reach. Only areas that can be reached safely are inspected.

  1. You give us the address so we can check the airspace.
  2. Where a flight restriction zone or restricted area applies, we seek permission first.
  3. Before the flight, we check the conditions and the take-off spot.
  4. The sub-250g drone takes close-up photos of the roof, kept in sight throughout.
  5. Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos and recommendations.

Before we arrive

  • If you are buying, let the agent know when we’re coming
  • Make sure the loft hatch can be reached
  • Leave side gates unlocked

Drone roof survey in Leckhampstead

Drone roof surveys are available in Leckhampstead and throughout London and South East England, subject to airspace checks and the weather. Flights take place on weekdays and at weekends. Every address is checked for airspace restrictions first. You get a written report with close-up photographs and recommendations. To check whether your roof suits a drone survey, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the address. If you’ve noticed coverings that have slipped high up on the roof and plant growth and moss on the roof, a survey will tell you what’s going on.

Somewhere as small as Leckhampstead, older roofs are often steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you cannot get from ground level. Weather and airspace are checked ahead of the visit. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.

We write the report in plain English, so you do not need to be a roofer to follow it. Photos show what each point refers to, and recommendations are put with the most urgent first where relevant.

Airspace, weather and Leckhampstead roofs

Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. Open category rules keep flights below 120 m (400 ft) and the drone within sight at all times.

Stowe House, about 3.4 miles west, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Leckhampstead. For older roofs nearby, a look from the air or with a thermal camera is a hands-off way to check condition.

Do you need a drone roof survey in Leckhampstead?

Walking on some roofs does more harm than good. Old slates and clay tiles crack underfoot, and some sheet roofs are fragile. With a drone, the roof is photographed without anyone stepping on it.

People usually book a survey after spotting one of these:

  • Tired mortar and pots at the top of a stack
  • Ponding and splits on a high flat roof
  • Moss building up on slopes and in gutters
  • Worn lead at chimneys and walls

For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Mary (Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary), older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where photos from the air and thermal images help.

Questions from Leckhampstead

Are there drone restrictions around Leckhampstead?

Normally it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.

Is my home in Leckhampstead listed or in a conservation area?

You can check whether a building is listed on Historic England’s list, and your council can tell you if it is in a conservation area. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.

How do I arrange a drone roof survey in Leckhampstead?

Just phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form with the address. We’ll ask a few questions, confirm the price and agree a date.

Is this a RICS survey?

No. Our survey looks at the roof, not the whole building. For the rest of the building, a RICS home survey is a separate job.

How soon will I get the report?

The Premium Survey report comes the same day, the Standard within 24–48 hours and the Basic within 48 hours. All of them come by email, ready to forward.

Can you tell me if my roof has asbestos?

No. Our report may flag materials that could contain asbestos, but only a specialist asbestos surveyor can confirm it. Buildings built or refurbished before 2000 may contain it.

Is Leckhampstead in your area?

Yes. We survey roofs across London and South East England, Leckhampstead included.

For landlords and managing agents

Freeholders and residents’ companies use a roof report to plan and budget, putting the urgent items at the top.

What a drone roof survey doesn’t cover

Every survey has limits, and we’d rather be clear about that before you book. Bear these in mind:

  • A flight where airspace permission is refused
  • The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
  • A flight on a day when the weather isn’t safe

If you are not sure which survey you need, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we will give you a straight answer. The full list of what we check.

What this survey covers

  • Fragile roofs
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Chimney stacks

Can I check my roof myself?

You can learn a lot from ground level. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Please don’t climb up for a closer look.

A DIY look is useful, but it is not a survey. You will not see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from the ground, and those are details a survey looks at closely.

Roof by roof

Steep slate and tile slopes

On slate roofs, slipped slates often point to corroded nails. We can see the extent of it from above.

Ridges and hips

The ridge takes wind from both sides. From above, we can see loose ridges and missing mortar.
