Drone roof survey in Loosley Row
Before any flight, we check the airspace. Near protected airports such as Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Luton, flight restriction zones mean permission is needed first. Parts of central London have restricted areas too, where NATS permission is needed. If we can’t fly, we use other safe vantage points instead and explain why. Prison sites also have drone restriction zones. We survey tall and steep roofs, chimney stacks and fragile roofs, and common reasons people get in touch are flat roofs on upper floors that hold water and chimney tops in poor condition.
Older buildings in small places like Loosley Row may be listed or in a conservation area. A look from the air or with a thermal camera does not touch the roof, so it’s a gentle way to see the condition of an old roof. Check with the council before planning any work on a listed building or one in a conservation area.
Pictures do a lot of the work in our reports, so you can see each defect rather than just read about it. Anything out of sight on the day is listed as such.

Why get it checked now?
Faults on high roofs tend to be found late. By that stage the damage has spread inside. Looking from above picks up the early signs. For an older or listed building in a place like Loosley Row, repairs may need matching materials and consent, so leaving a defect until it’s urgent leaves less time to plan.
Prices start from £150, inc. VAT, for a Basic Survey. Standard is from £250 and Premium from £400, both inc. VAT. You will know the price for the job before booking.

Loosley Row questions
How do I find out if my home in Loosley Row is listed?
Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the local council can tell you about conservation areas. Listed building consent is needed for changes that affect a listed building’s special interest, and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.
Can you fly a drone over a roof in Loosley Row?
Normally it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. Strong wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.
Will I get photos?
Yes, every report has them. Each finding is shown in a picture where possible, so you can see what we mean.
Do you carry out surveys on Saturdays and Sundays?
We carry out surveys on any day of the week. To find a day that suits you, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email.
Can you give me structural calculations?
No. We note visible signs such as sagging or deflection, but we are not structural engineers and don’t carry out calculations. Where an engineer is needed, we say so in the report.
Does this replace a RICS home survey?
No. We are experienced roof surveyors, and our survey covers the roof rather than the whole building. If you need a full building survey, you will need a RICS survey as well.
Are you insured?
Professional indemnity and public liability insurance cover our surveys. Ask if you need details for a managing agent or building owner.
What we do, step by step
We look at the roof from outside and, where it is relevant and there is safe access, from inside the loft space too. Inside, we look for staining, damp, gaps and signs of movement, as far as the space allows. The whole visit usually takes an hour or two for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. For a village or hamlet like Loosley Row, the journey is planned in advance: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. The roof is looked at from the ground, from windows, from the loft where there is safe access and from the roof where it’s safe.
- We start by making sure a drone flight makes sense for the roof.
- A date is fixed, with a fallback in case the weather turns.
- We fly over the roof, keeping the camera on the property we’re surveying.
- We also look inside the roof space where it’s safe.
- You get photos, findings and clear recommendations.
Before we arrive
- If you are buying, let the agent know when we are coming
- Have any questions written down, so nothing gets missed
- Agree roof access with the managing agent if it’s shared

Advice
Drone roof surveys around Loosley Row
Thatch survives on some older buildings in Buckinghamshire’s villages. In this part of the South East, older roofs are mostly slate or clay tile and many newer ones concrete tile. A drone or thermal camera adds most on the steep, tall and hidden parts of roofs like these. West Wycombe Park House, about 3.9 miles south, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Loosley Row. If yours is one of the older homes, expect a mix of original materials and later repairs on the roof.
If your house is among the older ones in the streets near Church of St John the Evangelist, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from ground level, and that’s where a view by drone or thermal camera helps.

Should I look at the roof myself first?
Keep a simple record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Share it with us as you book.
The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way, and a fall can be serious. That part is for a survey, using safe viewpoints and a drone where it applies.
What affects the price in Loosley Row
The price reflects the time and kit the roof needs. The main factors are:
- The roof’s overall size
- Extensions, dormers and garages with roofs of their own
- Which survey package you book
- House, block, shop or office
Our price is from £400, including VAT. Packages run from Basic at £150 through Standard at £250 to Premium at £400, including VAT.

Tips from our surveys
Small things make a difference. Some pointers:
- Expect a little longer if permission is needed
- Expect us to rearrange if it is too windy or wet
- Give us the full address so we can check the airspace
- Let us know about any leaks or concerns
The Premium Survey includes an in-person consultation to go through what the drone showed. You can ask about anything that isn’t clear.
Plan a drone survey every few years for tall or large roofs. Regular photos make changes easy to spot, and early repairs keep water out.
When to book a survey in Loosley Row
From the pavement, most of a tall roof is out of sight. Rear slopes, valleys and the tops of chimneys are hidden. Problems in those places often go unseen until they leak, which is why owners turn to a drone.
Most people get in touch after spotting something like this:
- Standing water on a flat roof
- Outlets choked with leaves and silt
- Slates or tiles shifted by high winds
- Moss building up on slopes and in gutters
If you look after a building like St John's Church of England Primary School, thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof.
