Rout's Green Drone Roof Survey
Find out the condition of the roof at your property in Rout's Green. We visit on weekdays and at weekends.
- Hidden gutters full of leaves
- Cracked flaunching or loose chimney pots
- Moss and weeds taking hold up top
Practical tips
A little preparation and a few simple habits help. Our tips:
- Allow time for permission if you’re in a flight restriction zone
- Be ready to move the date if the weather turns
- Shut pets inside while we fly
- Check the loft can be reached
There’s a follow-up after 12 months with the Premium Survey. It shows whether anything has moved or worn since the first visit, and whether work has done its job.
Have leaves and moss cleared from gutters, valleys and outlets, ideally once the leaves have fallen. On high roofs, leave clearing to a professional. Many leaks start with a blocked outlet.
Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Rout's Green
We carry out drone roof surveys in Rout's Green and across London and the South East, where the airspace and the weather allow. We fly seven days a week. Every address is checked for airspace restrictions first. You get a written report with close-up photographs and recommendations. To ask whether a drone survey suits your roof, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form. We are frequently asked to look into loose ridge and hip tiles and debris building up in hidden gutters, across flat roofs on upper floors, large and complex roofs and valleys and parapet gutters.
Some older homes in villages like Rout's Green are listed or in a conservation area. Neither a drone survey nor a thermal survey involves any work on the roof, which suits a building where any change needs care, before anyone decides what work it needs. Changes that affect a listed building’s special interest need listed building consent, so check with the council first.
Where we can’t see part of the roof, the report says so. You’ll know exactly what was inspected and what wasn’t, and what we’d suggest next.

For landlords and managing agents
Roof problems in a rented home affect tenants as well as the building. A survey helps you spot issues early and plan the work with less disruption.
Buyers’ agents can book surveys on behalf of their clients. Reports are emailed, so they’re easy to pass on, photos included.
How it works
Once we’ve finished looking, we write up our findings as a written report with photos, sent to you by email. On timing, it normally takes an hour or two for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Around Rout's Green, older homes can have small or awkward roof spaces, so it’s useful to know whether there’s a loft hatch and how easy it is to reach. We only go where it is safe.
- First, we check whether a drone is the right tool.
- A visit is booked for a weekday, Saturday or Sunday, weather permitting.
- We fly over the roof, keeping the camera on the property we are surveying.
- Where there is safe access, we check the loft as well.
- The report sets out what we found, with photos and recommendations.
Getting ready for the survey
- Buyers: confirm access with the estate agent or seller

When to book a survey in Rout's Green
Walking on some roofs does more harm than good. Old slates and clay tiles crack underfoot, and some sheet roofs are fragile. With a drone, the roof is photographed without anyone stepping on it.
Look out for signs like these:
- Lead work pulling away at abutments
- Hidden gutters full of leaves
- Damage after a storm that cannot be seen from below
- Ridge and hip pieces working loose
If you own one of the older houses in the streets near Church of St Mary, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where aerial photos and thermal images help.
Questions to ask before booking
- Whether VAT is added on top
- Whether the loft space is looked at, where there is one
- How much experience they have with roofs like yours
- Is there a chance to talk the report through?
How the survey changes by roof type
Large commercial roofs
Cement sheet roofs on buildings from before 2000 may contain asbestos. We flag it in the report and recommend a specialist asbestos surveyor.
Chimney stacks
The top of a stack is usually out of view. A drone gets close to the pots, flaunching, pointing and flashings, so cracks and gaps are clear.
Should I look at the roof myself first?
During heavy rain, look at the gutters from ground level or a window. Water spilling over the edge can be a sign of a blockage or a gutter that has dropped.
Keep a simple record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Share it with us when booking, as it helps us focus the survey.
Rout's Green questions
Do you cover smaller places like Rout's Green?
Yes. Rout's Green is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We survey roofs across London and South East England. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there as you book.
Can you fly a drone over a roof in Rout's Green?
Normally it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. Strong wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.
Are you structural engineers?
No. We point out what can be seen, such as sagging or deflection, but we don’t carry out calculations or give an engineer’s opinion. Where an engineer is needed, we say so in the report.
Can you survey in bad weather?
Light rain is normally fine; heavy rain and wind are different. In high wind or heavy rain, a drone cannot fly and access may not be safe, so we’d move the date with you.
What will the report tell me?
Written findings with photos, explaining the condition of the roof, any defects and our recommendations. The Standard Survey adds moisture detection and a structural check, and the Premium Survey adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where it applies and structural analysis.
How experienced are you?
We’ve completed more than 5,000 surveys, across 20+ years of surveying roofs.
Can you survey a shared roof?
Yes, as long as access is agreed. Roofs over flats are often shared, so we need permission from whoever owns or manages the building. We can only inspect what we are given access to.
Drones, thermal imaging and Rout's Green roofs
Thatch survives on some older buildings in Buckinghamshire’s villages. Older houses in the South East frequently have slate or clay tile roofs, while many later estates have concrete tiles. Steep or complicated roofs are often hard to see from ground level, which is where close-up aerial shots and thermal images help. We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). Flights in the open category stay under 120 m (400 ft), with the drone kept in sight.
If you look after a building such as Bledlow Ridge School, thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof. West Wycombe Park House, about 3.6 miles south-east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Rout's Green. Older roofs nearby can be steep and hard to see from the ground, and a survey from the air or with a thermal camera does not touch the roof itself.
Rout's Green is about 6 miles north-west of High Wycombe, in Buckinghamshire. Anywhere in Rout's Green, we can come and survey your property. Our Buckinghamshire coverage includes Rout's Green and the places around it. For surveys nearby, see our Reading page.
