Practical tips

Nothing here needs a ladder. A few suggestions:

  • Mention anything you’ve noticed on the roof
  • Expect us to rearrange if it’s too windy or wet
  • Move stored items away from the hatch
  • Make sure there’s room outside for the drone to take off

The Premium Survey includes an in-person consultation to talk through the photos and findings. It’s a chance to ask about anything in the report.

Keep the loft space ventilated. Condensation in the loft can damage timbers and insulation, and it’s something only an inside check will show. Keep insulation clear of the eaves.

Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Meadle

We fly a sub-250g drone, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. We keep it in sight throughout, and within the 120-metre limit that applies to all drones in the open category. Every flight is planned around the roof, the site and the people nearby. Airspace and weather are checked before every flight. We never fly where it is not safe. We survey fragile roofs, chimney stacks and tall and steep roofs, and people most often book us about ridge pieces that have lifted and vegetation in valleys and gutters.

In a small place like Meadle, open ground can mean strong wind. Strong wind or heavy rain stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. The visit is planned around the forecast, along with the journey and access. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.

After the visit, you get a report with photos, emailed to you. It explains the condition of the roof, the defects we found and what we recommend.

For landlords and managing agents

Buyers’ agents can book surveys on behalf of their clients. The report is emailed, so it can go straight to your client, photos included.

We also survey roofs for businesses and commercial landlords, from shops and offices to industrial units. Larger roofs take longer, so they’re priced to suit.

What happens if roof problems are left?

A drone record gives you a baseline. Next time, you can compare and see what has moved or worn. It is useful for planning maintenance over the years. For older village homes like those around Meadle, the right replacement materials aren’t always easy to find quickly. Spotting a problem early leaves room to find them.

A Basic Survey starts from £150, with VAT included. Standard is from £250 and Premium from £400, both including VAT. You will know the price for your roof before booking.

Drone roof surveys in Meadle: local notes

Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. Open category rules keep flights below 120 m (400 ft) and the drone within sight at all times. Listing and conservation areas can both shape what roof work is allowed on an older home. The council is the place to check, along with Historic England’s list, ideally before any re-roofing is planned.

Anyone responsible for a site like Princes Risborough School will know that a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit. Take an older house close to Owlswick Chapel: tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.

Meadle is about 2 miles north of Princes Risborough, in Buckinghamshire. We cover Meadle and the rest of Buckinghamshire. We cover towns and villages across Buckinghamshire. You can also see our page for Oxford.

Prices for drone roof surveys in Meadle

What a survey costs depends on the time and equipment it needs. The main factors are:

  • Whether it is a home or a commercial building
  • The shape of the roof and its details
  • The number of roofs, including extensions and garages
  • Basic, Standard or Premium

Simple, low roofs take less time to survey than tall or complicated ones, and the package matters as well. We’ll give you the figure before anything is booked.

Helping us price your survey

The more you tell us, the easier it is to price the survey. When you contact us, let us know:

  • Pictures from the garden or a window, if you have them
  • How the loft is reached, if there is one
  • What kind of property and roof it is
  • The property’s address and postcode

A quick phone call is typically the easiest start: ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form. You will have a price before anything is arranged.

Meadle questions

Do you cover smaller places like Meadle?

Yes, Meadle is on our map. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one.

Are there drone restrictions around Meadle?

Normally it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. High wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.

Do you carry professional indemnity insurance?

We’re covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance.

How long does the survey take?

It usually takes about 1–2 hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. The written report follows by email.

Do you need to get into the loft?

Usually, if there is one and it can be reached safely. From inside, the underside of the roof often shows damp, staining or daylight that cannot be seen from outside.

Will you go up on the roof?

Not always. Safety comes first, and fragile or steep roofs can’t always be walked on. We use safe viewpoints, the loft space and a drone where applicable.

Is it a structural engineer’s report?

No. We’re roof surveyors, not structural engineers. If we see signs that need an engineer’s opinion, we’ll recommend one.

Honest limits

It helps to know what a survey won’t do before booking:

  • Close-up photos of next door’s property
  • The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
  • Flights in high wind or heavy rain

If in doubt, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we will point you to the right survey. What a survey covers and doesn’t.

What this survey covers

  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Fragile roofs
  • Chimney stacks
  • Tall and steep roofs

What we do, step by step

A survey visit follows a simple order: we listen to what’s been worrying you, look at the roof from every safe viewpoint, take photographs as we go and record our findings for the written report. It typically takes between one and two hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Somewhere as small as Meadle, access is often the only tricky part. Mention any outbuildings, barns or garages you want included, and anything about the roof you already know. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays.

  1. We start with the address and what you’d like checked.
  2. Airspace restrictions are checked and permission sought where needed.
  3. On the day, we check the wind, weather and site before flying.
  4. The drone photographs the roof closely, kept in sight throughout.
  5. The findings, photos and recommendations reach you by email.
