Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Alscot

A drone can see more than your roof, so we take care. We keep the camera on the roof we’re surveying, not on gardens or windows next door. If your roof is joined to a neighbour’s, it’s worth letting them know about the visit. We inspect only what the owner has asked us to. Each flight is kept short and stays focused on the roof we’re there to survey. We’re often asked to look into plant growth and moss on the roof and ridge pieces that have lifted, on fragile roofs, large and complex roofs and flat roofs on upper floors.

Older buildings in small places like Alscot may be listed or in a conservation area. Neither a drone survey nor a thermal survey involves any work on the roof, which suits a building where any change needs care, before anyone decides what work it needs. Changes that affect a listed building’s special interest need listed building consent, so check with the council first.

After the visit, you get a photo-illustrated written report, sent by email. It explains the condition of the roof, the defects we found and what we recommend.

What we cannot see

To be straight with you, a roof survey has limits:

  • Roofs and gardens beyond the one we’re surveying
  • Whether the roof structure meets design loads
  • A flight on a day when the weather isn’t safe

If you are not sure which survey you need, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer. What our survey covers.

What we check

  • Fragile roofs
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Chimney stacks
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Large and complex roofs

What we do, step by step

Where it’s relevant and can be reached safely, the loft space is checked as well as the outside. Inside, we look for staining, damp, gaps and signs of movement, as far as the space allows. All in, the survey typically takes between one and two hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Somewhere like Alscot needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. On the day, we inspect what can be seen safely, inside and out.

  1. You give us the address so we can check the airspace.
  2. If permission is needed, we ask for it before the visit.
  3. On the day, we check the weather and the site before flying.
  4. We fly the drone close to the roof to photograph it in detail, always in sight.
  5. Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos and recommendations.

Before the survey

  • Keep pets inside or away from the areas we’re looking at
  • Let us know about parking before the day
  • Leave a clear route to the loft

Tips that help

From years of surveys, a few habits stand out as worth the effort:

  • Be ready to move the date if the weather turns
  • Clear the loft hatch so we can check inside too
  • Check there’s room outside for the drone to take off
  • Keep pets indoors during the flight

With the Premium Survey, the report arrives the same day. Drone photographs are included where we could fly, alongside the other checks in the package.

Check the loft now and then, with care and a good torch. The underside often shows problems before the outside does. Take photos of any changes.

Why act early in Alscot

With drone photos, everyone can see the same thing. They show the location and extent of each defect. Older cottages and farmhouses around Alscot can have roof timbers that have been there a very long time, and water through a failed covering can rot timber if it is left.

Price depends partly on the package: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 or Premium from £400, all inc. VAT. Size, height and access can affect the price too.

What you get with us

Should I look at the roof myself first?

If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, and look for staining, damp timber or daylight coming through.

During heavy rain, look at the gutters from ground level or a window. Water spilling over the edge can point to a blockage or a sagging run.

Questions from Alscot

Does a conservation area affect roof work in Alscot?

Your council is the best source, with Historic England’s list for listed buildings. Both listing and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.

Can you fly a drone over a roof in Alscot?

Typically it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.

Is Alscot in your area?

Yes. We carry out drone roof surveys in Alscot.

Does the report include photographs?

Yes, every report has them. Pictures sit next to the findings they show, so you can see what we mean.

How much is a survey?

Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. The final figure depends on the roof and the package you choose, confirmed before anything is booked.

Will you check the loft?

If the survey needs it and the loft space can be reached safely, yes. A clear path to the hatch helps.

I live in a flat. Can you survey the roof?

Yes. A shared roof needs access agreed first, with the building owner or managing agent. Tell us about it when booking and we’ll plan the survey around it.

How we price drone roof surveys

All our prices include VAT. What changes the price is:

  • Which survey package you book
  • Features like valleys, chimneys, dormers and parapets
  • How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
  • The roof’s overall size

A small, low roof with good viewpoints takes less time than a tall, complicated one, and the package you pick makes a difference too. The price is always agreed first.

Getting in touch

The more you tell us, the easier it is to price the survey. When you contact us, tell us:

  • Any stains, drips or damp patches you’ve seen indoors
  • When you need the report by
  • Anything about access we should know
  • The style of property, from a terrace to a block

Not sure which survey you need? The easiest way is to call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and describe the roof and why you want it surveyed. We will explain the options and the price.

Drone roof surveys in Alscot: local notes

The drone we use is under 250g, flown by a CAA-registered operator with a Flyer ID and Operator ID. Open category rules keep flights below 120 m (400 ft) and the drone within sight at all times. An older home may be listed, or stand in a conservation area. Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the council can say whether a street is in a conservation area. In either case, a change of roofing material may need consent.

If your home is one of the older ones in the streets near St Teresa's Church, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement. If you look after a building such as Princes Risborough Primary School, thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof.
