Drone roof survey in Longwick: what you get
Prices start from £400, including VAT. A drone inspection, where applicable, is also part of our Premium Survey, along with structural analysis, a same-day report and an in-person consultation. There’s a 12-month follow-up as well. We will tell you if a drone isn’t the right tool for your roof. Every drone survey comes with a written report and close-up photos. We survey fragile roofs, flat roofs on upper floors and valleys and parapet gutters, and people most frequently book us about slipped or missing slates on a high roof and vegetation in valleys and gutters.
Around Longwick, older homes can have thin loft insulation and later additions with roofs of their own. Thermal patterns and close-up photos together give a fuller picture of the roof. Findings are checked with moisture readings where needed. Results depend on the weather, so the visit is planned around the forecast.
If any part of the roof couldn’t be seen safely, we say so in the report. That way, it’s clear what was covered and what wasn’t, and what we’d suggest next.

How it works
Safety comes first on every visit. We inspect everything that’s safely in view, and anything we can’t see is noted in the report. Most visits take between one and two hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. In a smaller place like Longwick, parking is seldom the issue; lanes, gates and long drives are worth mentioning. Low roofs on bungalows can often be seen well from the ground, and the loft shows the rest, while taller roofs may need other vantage points or the drone where it applies.
- We start by making sure a drone flight makes sense for the roof.
- A date is fixed, with a fallback in case the weather turns.
- The roof is photographed from the air, with the camera kept on your property.
- If the loft can be reached safely, it is checked too.
- You get photos, findings and clear recommendations.
Before we arrive

- Note where any stains or damp appear

For landlords and managing agents
Roof problems in a rented home affect tenants as well as the building. A survey shows what needs attention, so you can plan the work around your tenants.

What a drone roof survey doesn’t cover
It is a careful look at the roof, not the whole story. Its limits include:
- Neighbouring roofs the owner hasn’t asked us to survey
- Photos in conditions too poor to fly
- Whether the roof structure meets design loads
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can ring 07833 053749 or send us an email and we will tell you before booking. What our survey covers.
Roof types and parts we check
- Chimney stacks
- Large and complex roofs
- Tall and steep roofs
- Valleys and parapet gutters
- Flat roofs on upper floors
- Fragile roofs
Leave it or get it looked at?
Planning roof work without seeing the roof is a gamble. You get photographs of every part we can see. You can tackle the urgent items first. Around Longwick, a leak in an older house can soak into timbers and plaster, and that is a much bigger job than the original defect.
Price depends partly on the package: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 or Premium from £400, all inc. VAT. The roof’s size, height and access matter as well.

Tips that help
Small things make a difference, both for the survey and for the roof itself. Some pointers:
- Let us know the exact address as you book
- Keep dogs indoors during the visit
- Book early if you’re near an airport
- A word with neighbours beforehand helps
The Premium Survey report comes the same day. Drone photos are included where we could fly.
Look at the roof from the ground after strong winds. Pieces of slate or tile on the ground mean something has moved. A drone can show exactly what has moved.
How the survey changes by roof type
Ridges and hips
The ridge takes wind from both sides. A drone shows cracked mortar and loose ridge tiles.
Valleys and parapet gutters
A butterfly roof drains to a central valley gutter. It is almost impossible to see from ground level, but it’s plain to see from the air.
Drones, thermal imaging and Longwick roofs
The drone we use is under 250g, flown by a CAA-registered operator with a Flyer ID and Operator ID. In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight. An older home may be listed, or stand in a conservation area. To find out, check Historic England’s list and ask the council about conservation areas. Re-roofing in different materials may need permission there.
Take an older house close to Owlswick Chapel: steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from the ground, and that is where a view from the air or with a thermal camera helps. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Longwick Church of England Combined School, a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it.

Your questions about drone roof surveys in Longwick
Do you cover smaller places like Longwick?
Yes. Longwick is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We work right across London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route as you book.
Are there drone restrictions around Longwick?
It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or a downpour.
What if it rains on the day?
Light rain does not usually stop a survey, and it can even help show where water is getting in. Heavy rain or strong wind can ground a drone and make the roof unsafe, so we’ll agree a new date if the weather is not suitable.
How fast do I get the report?
Basic reports arrive within 48 hours, Standard reports in 24–48 hours and Premium reports on the same day. Each one is emailed, ready to forward.
What’s in the survey report?
You get our findings in writing, part by part, with photos, finishing with recommendations. Points are put in order of urgency where relevant.
How do I arrange a drone roof survey in Longwick?
To arrange a survey, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form and let us know the address and what you’d like to know. We will confirm the price and find a day that suits.
Can you tell me if my roof has asbestos?
No. Our report may flag materials that could contain asbestos, but only a specialist asbestos surveyor can confirm it. It may be present in buildings built or refurbished before 2000.
