Drone roof surveys in Horsenden

Drone roof survey in Horsenden: what you get

Prices start from £400, including VAT. A drone inspection, where applicable, is also part of our Premium Survey, with a same-day report, structural analysis and an in-person consultation. There is a 12-month follow-up as well. We’ll tell you if a drone isn’t the right tool for your roof. You get a written report with the close-up photos from the flight. If you are worried about cracked mortar along the ridge and ponding and splits on a high flat roof, we can find out what’s behind it, whatever the roof.

Some older homes in villages like Horsenden are listed or in a conservation area. A look from the air or with a thermal camera doesn’t touch the roof, which suits a building where any change needs care, before anyone decides what work it needs. Changes that affect a listed building’s special interest need listed building consent, so check with the council first.

We write the report in plain English, so it makes sense without any roofing background. Each point is backed by a photograph where possible.

How it works

Photos are taken throughout the visit, so the report shows exactly what we saw. Close-ups come from the safest viewpoint available, including by drone where it is applicable and the weather allows. A typical visit takes between one and two hours at a typical home; commercial roofs usually need 3–4 hours. Somewhere like Horsenden needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. On the day, we inspect whatever is safely visible, inside and out.

  1. We start by making sure a drone flight makes sense for the roof.
  2. A date is fixed, with a fallback in case the weather turns.
  3. The roof is photographed from the air, with the camera kept on your property.
  4. If the loft can be reached safely, it’s checked too.
  5. You get photos, findings and clear recommendations.

Preparing for the visit

  • Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors
  • Tell us about parking before the day
  • For flats, make sure roof access has been agreed

Most bookings start with a short call: ring 07833 053749 or email us and we will ask a few questions about the roof. The price is agreed before a date is set.

Advice

What we’re asked to look at in Horsenden

Not every roof can take a person’s weight. Old slates and clay tiles crack underfoot, and fragile sheet roofs are dangerous to walk on. With a drone, the roof is photographed without anyone stepping on it.

These are some of the problems a survey can pick up:

  • Damage after a storm that cannot be seen from below
  • Standing water on a flat roof
  • Worn lead at chimneys and walls
  • Plant growth and moss on the roof

Anyone responsible for a site like Princes Risborough School will know that big roofs are where close-up aerial shots and thermal images show the most at once.

What to check before booking

  • What experience they bring
  • Whether you can ask questions once you have the report
  • What insurance they carry
  • Their drone registration, if they fly one

What a roof survey includes

Can I check my roof myself?

Your own check is a good start, but it isn’t a survey. From the ground, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are often out of sight.

Keep a simple record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Share it with us when booking, as it helps us focus the survey.

Before and after the survey

Here are a few things we’d tell any owner:

  • Tell us the exact address when you book
  • Mention anything you’ve noticed on the roof
  • Allow for a change of day in poor weather
  • A word with neighbours beforehand helps

You get an in-person consultation with the Premium Survey to go through what the drone showed. You can ask about anything that is not clear.

Look at the roof from ground level after strong winds. Pieces of slate or tile on the ground mean something has moved. A drone survey can show what has shifted.

Common questions in Horsenden

Do you cover smaller places like Horsenden?

Yes, Horsenden is covered. We survey roofs across London and South East England, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

How do I find out if my home in Horsenden is listed?

The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. It’s worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.

What do I do with the report?

You will receive the report by email, and you decide the next step: use it with a seller, an insurer, a roofer or a managing agent.

Do you test for asbestos?

No. Asbestos surveys and sampling are not something we do. The report may flag materials that could contain asbestos on buildings built or refurbished before 2000.

How much does a drone roof survey cost in Horsenden?

Prices start from £400, including VAT. You’ll know the price for your roof before booking, and it depends on the roof’s size, access and the package you choose. For a price, call 07833 053749 or email us.

Are there drone restrictions in central London?

Parts of central London are restricted, including areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs, where flights need permission from NATS. We check the airspace for your address and apply where needed.

How do I arrange a drone roof survey in Horsenden?

The quickest way is to ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email. Tell us the address and a little about the roof. We survey on any day of the week.

Airspace, weather and Horsenden roofs

Thatch survives on some older buildings in Buckinghamshire’s villages. Across the South East, older homes tend to have slate or clay tiles, and many later ones concrete tiles. Many roofs like these can’t be judged properly from the pavement, and that is where a view from above or a thermal image earns its place. We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight.

If you live in an older home near Church of St Michael and All Angels, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where close-up aerial shots and thermal images help.

Horsenden is about 5 miles east of Thame, in Buckinghamshire. Whether the building in Horsenden is a house, a flat or a commercial unit, the roof can be surveyed. Horsenden is one of the places in Buckinghamshire we cover. Oxford is in our area too.

Why it is worth a survey now in Horsenden

A drone record gives you a baseline. Next time, you can compare and see what has moved or worn. It’s useful for planning maintenance over the years. In a place like Horsenden, a barn or garage roof left to fail puts whatever is inside at risk. A quick look before winter can save a lot.

The Premium Survey includes thermal imaging and drone inspection where applicable, from £400 inc. VAT. We can help you choose the package that fits what you need to know.
