Bledlow questions

Do you cover smaller places like Bledlow?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We cover the whole of London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when booking.

Is drone flying allowed in Bledlow?

That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. High wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.

How experienced are you?

Over 5,000 surveys so far, across 20+ years of surveying roofs.

How long is the visit?

Expect it to take an hour or two at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. You’ll then get the report by email, on the timescale of your package.

What does the report include?

A written report with photos, covering the condition of the roof, the defects we found and what we recommend, in order of urgency where relevant. Standard adds moisture detection and a structural check; Premium adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable and structural analysis.

What does a roof survey cost?

Our price is from £400, including VAT. What you pay for your roof depends on its size, height, access and the package, and it’s agreed before booking.

Can you give me structural calculations?

No. We point out what can be seen, like sagging or deflection, but we’re not structural engineers and do not carry out calculations. Where an engineer is needed, we say so in the report.

Drone roof survey in Bledlow: what you get

Prices start from £400, including VAT. The Premium Survey includes a drone inspection where applicable, with a same-day report, structural analysis and an in-person consultation. It also includes a follow-up after 12 months. We will tell you if a drone isn’t the right tool for your roof. You get a written report with the close-up photos from the flight. If you’ve noticed chimney tops in poor condition and ponding and splits on a high flat roof, a survey will tell you what’s going on, on valleys and parapet gutters, flat roofs on upper floors and fragile roofs alike.

Older buildings in small places like Bledlow may be listed or in a conservation area. A look from the air or with a thermal camera does not touch the roof, which suits a building where any change needs care. Check with the council before planning any work on a listed building or one in a conservation area.

The written findings come by email, ready to forward to whoever needs them. Basic reports come within 48 hours, Standard within 24–48 hours and Premium on the day.

Roof by roof

Valleys and parapet gutters

A butterfly roof drains to a central valley gutter. You cannot see it from the street at all, but it is plain to see from the air.

Steep slate and tile slopes

Steep roofs are risky to walk on. A drone photographs them closely from a safe position, showing slipped, cracked and missing pieces.

Airspace, weather and Bledlow roofs

Some villages in Buckinghamshire still have thatched roofs. In this part of the South East, older roofs are mostly slate or clay tile and many newer ones concrete tile. Where a roof is steep, tall or hard to see from the ground, drone photos and thermal images add detail. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions.

The streets around a church such as Church of the Holy Trinity are often among the oldest in a place, and if you own one of the older houses nearby, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.

Bledlow is about 5 miles south-east of Thame, in Buckinghamshire. Bledlow gets the same service as everywhere else we work: a careful inspection, photos and a written report. We cover towns and villages across Buckinghamshire, from the larger towns to small villages. You can also see our page for Oxford.

Signs you need a drone roof survey in Bledlow

Steep and tall roofs are hard to inspect safely. Tall townhouses, blocks of flats and offices are typical. We fly from ground level and bring the camera close to the roof.

People typically book a survey after spotting one of these:

  • Ridge pieces that have lifted
  • Debris building up in hidden gutters
  • Chimney tops in poor condition
  • Worn lead at chimneys and walls

For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Princes Risborough School, thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof.

Choosing a roof surveyor

  • What follow-up you get after the report
  • When you will get the report
  • Do they have a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID for drone work?
  • Whether the inside of the roof is included

What a good roof survey covers

When you need someone else

In fairness, a roof survey has limits:

  • The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
  • Structural calculations (that’s a structural engineer’s job)
  • Flights in a restricted zone without permission

If you’re not sure which survey you need, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we will give you a straight answer before you book. What our survey covers.

What we check

  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Fragile roofs
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Chimney stacks
  • Tall and steep roofs

Landlord and commercial surveys in Bledlow

A roof problem in a let property affects your tenants as well as the building. A survey helps you spot issues early and plan the work around your tenants.

With a portfolio of properties, you can book surveys for several addresses. To arrange surveys for several addresses, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email with the addresses.

The survey, step by step

A survey visit follows a simple order: we hear what you’ve seen, look at the roof from every safe viewpoint, photograph what we find and record our findings for the written report. Most visits take an hour or two at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Rural addresses near Bledlow can be hard to find from a postcode alone, so a few directions, or a note of a nearby landmark, help us arrive on time. The visit itself is the same as anywhere else.

  1. First comes the address, plus a note of what worries you about the roof.
  2. We check the airspace and seek any permission needed.
  3. We assess the conditions and the take-off spot first.
  4. We fly the sub-250g drone close to the roof and photograph each area.
  5. The findings, photos and recommendations reach you by email.

Before we arrive

  • Buyers: confirm access with the estate agent or seller
  • Let us know about any leaks, stains or damp patches you know of
  • Make a note of anything you’d like us to look at

How to book

Not sure which survey you need? It’s easiest to call 07833 053749 or use the contact form and describe the roof and what’s worrying you. We’ll explain the options and the price.

Checking the roof from the ground

If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, checking for stains, damp wood or chinks of daylight.

Keep a simple record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Send it with your enquiry and it will help the survey.
