Tips from our surveys

From years of surveys, a few habits stand out as worth the effort:

  • Keep pets indoors during the flight
  • Expect us to rearrange if it’s too windy or wet
  • A word with neighbours beforehand helps
  • Check the loft can be reached

Premium also includes a 12-month follow-up. It helps you see how the roof has changed over the year.

Look at the roof from the ground after strong winds. Debris in the garden is a sign to act on. A drone survey can show what has shifted.

Drone roof survey in Monkey Street

We fly a sub-250g drone, and we are a CAA-registered drone operator, with a Flyer ID and an Operator ID. We keep it in sight throughout, and within the 120-metre limit that applies to all drones in the open category. Every flight is planned around the roof, the site and the people nearby. Before every flight, we check the airspace and the weather. We never fly where it is not safe. If you’ve noticed outlets choked with leaves and silt and worn lead at chimneys and walls, we can find out what’s behind it, whatever the roof.

Somewhere as small as Monkey Street, older roofs are often steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. Close-up drone photos and thermal images help show what cannot be reached safely. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first, and the journey is planned in advance. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.

After the visit, you get a photo-illustrated written report, sent by email. It sets out the condition of the roof, any defects and our written recommendations.

For landlords and managing agents

Letting agents can arrange access with tenants. Surveys run seven days a week, which can make access easier.

For blocks of flats, a roof survey helps managing agents and residents’ management companies plan ahead. Recommendations are set out in order of urgency where relevant, which helps with budgets and planning.

Different roofs, different checks

Chimney stacks

Leaning stacks and loose pots are easier to judge from above. Each defect is photographed for the report.

Ridges and hips

Some ridges are fixed with mortar, others with dry-fix systems. We record what we see of their condition.

FAQs for Monkey Street

Do you cover smaller places like Monkey Street?

Yes. Monkey Street is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our area covers London and South East England. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when booking.

Can you fly a drone over a roof in Monkey Street?

That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.

What’s in the report?

You get our findings in writing, part by part, with photos, finishing with recommendations. Points are put by urgency where it matters.

How long will you be at the property?

Expect it to take about one to two hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. The written report follows by email.

Can you tell me if my roof has asbestos?

No. We do not carry out asbestos surveys or testing. We flag materials that could contain asbestos, such as cement sheets or soffits on pre-2000 buildings.

Does the report include photos?

Yes, plenty. Each finding is shown in a picture where possible, so you can see what we mean.

Do you need to get into the loft?

If the survey needs it and the roof space can be reached safely, yes. Please clear anything stored under the hatch, and if the loft cannot be reached safely, the report says so.

Can I check my roof myself?

A DIY look is useful, but it is not a survey. You will not see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from ground level.

Watch the gutters in a downpour, from a window or the ground. Water spilling over the edge can be a sign of a blockage or a gutter that has dropped.

Prices for drone roof surveys in Monkey Street

Our packages start from £150, inc. VAT. What you pay for your roof depends on:

  • Commercial roofs and larger buildings
  • Basic, Standard or Premium
  • How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
  • The use of thermal imaging or a drone

Bigger, taller and commercial roofs take more time to survey, so the price reflects that. The price is confirmed before booking.

Helping us price your survey

You don’t need to know any roofing terms. It is enough to let us know:

  • What’s prompted the survey
  • Any photos you have, taken from ground level or a window
  • Access details, such as a loft hatch or a shared roof
  • Your postcode, so we can check access and travel

Buyers should book once an offer has been accepted, so there’s time to use the report before exchange. For any other survey, just phone 07833 053749 or email us when you’re ready.

What happens on the day

We will ask a few questions first, about the roof’s history, any leaks and past repairs. Then the inspection itself takes about one to two hours for a house, and about three to four hours for a commercial roof. Rural addresses near Monkey Street can be hard to find from a postcode alone, so a few directions are welcome. After that, the survey runs as it would anywhere.

  1. First, we check the address for flight restrictions.
  2. We arrange any permission that’s needed before we fly.
  3. We assess the wind, the weather and the surroundings before take-off.
  4. The drone captures close-up photos of the coverings, chimneys, valleys and gutters.
  5. You receive a written report with photos and recommendations.

How to prepare

  • If you are buying, check with the agent that we can get in
  • Gather any invoices or paperwork from past roof work
  • Leave side gates unlocked

Getting a price

A quick phone call is normally the easiest start: call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will ask a few questions about the roof. The price is agreed before a date is set.

Advice

Drone roof surveys in Monkey Street: local notes

Monkey Street is within about 5 miles of the coast, where wind off the sea can be strong. The weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead, as a small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or a downpour. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions.

The streets around a church like Church of St Mary are frequently among the oldest in a place, and if you own one of the older houses nearby, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from the ground, and that is where a view by drone or thermal camera helps. Whatever the street in Monkey Street, a roof costs least to look after when faults are caught early.
