- Flat roofs on upper floors that hold water
- Lead work pulling away at abutments
Roof by roof
Steep slate and tile slopes
On slate roofs, slipped slates often point to corroded nails. Close-up photos show how widespread it is.
Chimney stacks
Our drone check of a chimney is visual, not a flue, gas or sweep inspection. If the flue needs a specialist, we will tell you.
About our drone roof survey in Myrke
Our drone weighs under 250g, and we’re a CAA-registered drone operator, with a Flyer ID and an Operator ID. It stays within sight for the whole flight, and well below the 120-metre height limit. Every flight is planned around the roof, the site and the people nearby. Before every flight, we check the airspace and the weather. Safety comes first on every visit. We survey chimney stacks, tall and steep roofs and large and complex roofs, and the problems we are asked to look at most are lifted or split lead flashings and vegetation in valleys and gutters.
Somewhere as small as Myrke, older roofs are often steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you cannot get from the ground. Weather and airspace are looked at before the visit, and the journey is planned in advance. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.
You can share the report with anyone who needs it: your solicitor, the seller, your insurer, a roofer or the building’s managing agent.

- Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside

Your questions about drone roof surveys in Myrke
How do I find out if my home in Myrke is listed?
Your council is the best source, with Historic England’s list for listed buildings. Both listing and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.
Is Myrke within the area you cover?
Yes, Myrke is on our map. Villages and rural addresses get the same survey as a town house, with the route planned beforehand.
Do you carry professional indemnity insurance?
Every survey is covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance, and we can provide details if a managing agent needs them.
Will I get photos?
Yes. Photographs are part of every report, so you can see each point for yourself.
Which days do you carry out surveys?
Surveys can be booked for any day of the week: Monday to Friday, Saturdays and Sundays. Just let us know the days that suit you.
Will you go up on the roof?
Not unless it’s safe. Safe viewpoints, the loft space and a drone where applicable cover most of what’s needed, and anything out of sight is recorded in the report.
Are you structural engineers?
No. We’re roof surveyors, not structural engineers. If we see signs that need an engineer’s opinion, we’ll recommend one.
What happens on the day
The visit normally starts outside and finishes in the loft: first the slopes, edges and gutters from every safe viewpoint, then the loft space where it can be reached. In total, it takes about 1–2 hours for a house, and longer for a large or complex roof. Cottages and farmhouses around Myrke often have roofs at several levels, with lean-tos and outbuildings attached. Each part is looked at from wherever it can be seen safely, and anything we cannot see is noted.
- You give us the address so we can check the airspace.
- Where a flight restriction zone or restricted area applies, we seek permission first.
- On the day, we check the weather and the site before flying.
- We fly the drone close to the roof to photograph it in detail, always in sight.
- Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos and recommendations.
Preparing for the visit
- Make sure pets are kept safely away
- Make a note of anything you’d like us to look at
- For a flat or shared roof, check access with whoever owns or manages the building

Most bookings start with a short call: phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we’ll ask a few questions about the roof. The price is agreed before a date is set.
Advice
Signs you need a drone roof survey in Myrke
Large roofs take a long time to see on foot. The drone covers the surface area by area. That gives a clearer picture of the roof as a whole.
Things that often lead to a survey include:
- Blistered or cracked flat roof coverings
- Slates or tiles shifted by high winds
- Eroded pointing on a chimney stack
- Blocked valleys and parapet gutters
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Long Close School, a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit.
What to check before booking
- How long the report takes to arrive
- Whether the inside of the roof is included
- What happens after the report arrives
- How much experience they have with roofs like yours
What this survey cannot tell you
In fairness, a roof survey has limits:
- Flights in a restricted zone without permission
- Anything inside the loft or under the coverings
- Neighbouring roofs the owner hasn’t asked us to survey
If you are not sure which survey you need, phone 07833 053749 or email us and we will give you a straight answer before you book. What our survey covers.

Drone roof surveys in Myrke: local notes
The flight restriction zone around Heathrow Airport comes within about 2 miles of Myrke. We check the exact boundary for the address before flying, and if the roof falls inside it, we ask for permission first. About 1.2 miles south-west lies Windsor Castle, a reminder of how long the area around Myrke has been built on. If yours is one of the older homes, expect a mix of original materials and later repairs on the roof.
Take an older house close to Church of St Laurence: steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from ground level, and that’s where a view from above or with a thermal imager helps. A roof leak in a hotel or guest house around Myrke means lost rooms as well as repairs, so it pays to find faults before guests do.
