Flat roof survey in Myrke
Every flat roof covering tends to fail in its own way. Felt can blister and crack, asphalt can craze and split, EPDM seams and laps can lift, and GRP can crack where boards meet or at the trims. Single-ply PVC and TPO roofs are checked at their welds, edges and fixings. Knowing what you have and how it is doing helps you plan what comes next. Typical surveys look at outlets choked with leaves and silt and failed upstands where the roof meets a wall, on mastic asphalt, single-ply membranes and GRP fibreglass.
Somewhere as small as Myrke, flat roofs tend to be on extensions, garages and converted outbuildings. The checks are the same as anywhere: outlets, upstands, edges and the covering itself. The journey and access are planned beforehand. Garages and outbuildings are easy to forget, so mention any you want included as you book.
The Standard Survey adds moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey goes further, with thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

How we price flat roof surveys
Every roof is different, so prices are confirmed before booking. These are the things that affect it:
- House, block, shop or office
- The number of roofs, including extensions and garages
- The use of thermal imaging or a drone
- The size of the roof
Prices start from £150, with VAT included, for a Basic Survey. The Standard Survey starts from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, both including VAT. We confirm the price for your roof before you book.
Getting in touch
Getting the details right at the start saves time. Please include:
- Pictures of the roof from a safe spot, if you have them
- The address and postcode of the property
- What made you get in touch
- Any stains, drips or damp patches you’ve seen indoors
To arrange a survey, call 07833 053749 or email us and tell us the address and what’s prompted the survey. We’ll confirm the price before you book.
What we do, step by step
The visit has one job: to see as much of the flat roof as can be seen safely and record it clearly. Notes and photos go into the written report. It typically takes roughly 1–2 hours at most homes, while a commercial roof takes nearer three to four hours. Older roofs in small places like Myrke can have low, tight loft spaces, so it helps to know whether there’s a loft hatch and how easy it is to reach. We only go where it’s safe.
- We start with the address and, on larger roofs, the roof area and access.
- We check the rooms or spaces under the roof for staining where there is access.
- The roof is inspected from every safe viewpoint, without walking on fragile surfaces.
- Each defect is photographed and its likely cause noted.
- You get a report setting out the condition and our recommendations, in order of urgency.
Before the survey
- Keep pets in another room
- Make sure the loft hatch can be reached
- Tell us about parking before the day

DIY checks: what’s safe
Keep a simple record: dates of leaks, photos from ground level and any work done on the roof. Share it with us when booking.
After strong wind, take a look from the pavement or garden: broken slates or tiles in the garden, gaps along the ridge or loose lead are signs to note. Don’t go up yourself.
What this survey can’t tell you
We only report whatever is safely visible on the day, so there are some things a survey can’t cover:
- Testing older roof sheets for asbestos
- Fragile surfaces, which we don’t walk on
- Hidden layers beneath the covering
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can call 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we’ll tell you before you book. What our survey covers.

Common questions in Myrke
Do you cover commercial flat roofs around Myrke?
Yes, commercial buildings, hotels included, are part of the work. Access to the roof is sorted out with whoever manages the building before the day.
Do you cover smaller places like Myrke?
We do. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one.
Is this a RICS survey?
No. We’re experienced roof surveyors, and our survey covers the roof rather than the whole building. If you need a full building survey, you will need a RICS survey as well.
I live in a flat. Can you survey the roof?
Yes. A shared roof needs access agreed first, with the building owner or managing agent. Mention it when you get in touch and we will plan the survey around it.
What’s in the report?
It explains what we saw, what it means and what we’d suggest, with photographs throughout. Anything we couldn’t see safely is noted too.
How do I arrange a flat roof survey in Myrke?
The quickest way is to ring 07833 053749 or send us an email. Tell us the address and a little about the roof. Surveys run seven days a week.
What happens after the survey?
The report comes by email, and what you do next is up to you: raise it with a seller, send it to an insurer, brief a roofer or share it with a managing agent.
For landlords and managing agents
If the property is let, the agent or a tenant can let us in. We survey on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays, which can make access easier.
Surveys can also be booked by buyers’ agents acting for a client. Reports are emailed, so they’re easy to pass on.
Local flat roofs in Myrke
Older houses in the South East often have slate or clay tile roofs, while many later estates have concrete tiles, and flat-roofed additions turn up almost everywhere. Flat roofs on extensions, dormers, garages and business units are found alongside them almost everywhere. Historic houses like Windsor Castle, about 1.2 miles south-west, show how far back building in the area around Myrke goes. Older roofs in the wider area can hide decades of patch repairs, so the detail matters, and the council can say whether a home is in a conservation area.
If you look after a building like Long Close School, large flat roofs, common on schools and other public buildings, need their outlets, upstands and coverings checked regularly. If you own a rental within reach of Slough station, a flat roof over a rented flat is easy to forget until the tenant reports a leak.

Common roof problems in Myrke
A flat roof lies open to sun, rain and frost, and water drains off it slowly. In time, the covering dries out, cracks and loosens at its edges and laps. People normally call us when a leak appears, before a purchase, or when the roof may be near the end of its life.
Look out for signs like these:
- Signs of deflection in the roof deck
- Outlets that hold water back
- Splits and cracks in the covering
- Raised blisters across the surface
For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Laurence, the flat roofs on later extensions tend to wear out long before the main roof.
