Independent drone roof surveys in Slough

Drone roof survey in Slough: what you get

A drone can see more than your roof, so we take care. The camera stays on your roof, not on gardens or windows next door. If your roof is joined to a neighbour’s, it is worth letting them know about the visit. We survey the roof you’ve asked us to look at. Each flight is kept short and stays focused on the roof we’re there to survey. We survey valleys and parapet gutters, tall and steep roofs and fragile roofs, and common reasons people get in touch are blocked valleys and parapet gutters and lifted or split lead flashings.

A place the size of Slough has flats, offices, shops and schools with flat or low-pitched roofs. On a large flat roof, trapped moisture under the covering can spread a long way from the leak. Thermal patterns are checked with moisture readings, and aerial photos show the whole roof at once. Plant, rooflights and fragile panels can make a large roof unsafe to walk on.

What you get is a clear record of the roof on the day we saw it. It’s useful right away, and a good reference for later, for example when you want to check whether anything has changed.

Tips from our surveys

From years of surveys, a few habits stand out as worth the effort:

  • Move stored items away from the hatch
  • Keep a clear space in the garden or drive for take-off
  • A word with neighbours beforehand helps
  • Share the postcode so we can check for restrictions

There’s a follow-up after 12 months with the Premium Survey. It helps you see how the roof has changed over the year, and whether work has done its job.

Do not block the vents at the eaves. Condensation in the loft can damage timbers and insulation, and it’s something only an inside check will show. Keep insulation clear of the eaves.

Slough: your questions answered

Do you carry out roof surveys in Slough?

Yes. We cover the whole of London and South East England, and Slough is part of that. Just ring 07833 053749 or email us and tell us about the property, and we’ll talk through which survey suits.

Is my home in Slough listed or in a conservation area?

Start with Historic England’s list for listing and your council for conservation areas. It is worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.

How fast do I get the report?

It depends on the package: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day. Reports are sent by email.

How long will you be at the property?

Expect it to take roughly 1–2 hours for a house, rising to roughly 3–4 hours on a commercial building. That includes checking the site and the weather before take-off.

Is it a structural engineer’s report?

No. Visible signs such as deflection or sagging are recorded, but we do not provide calculations or an engineer’s opinion. If one is needed, the report says so.

I live in a flat. Can you survey the roof?

Yes. Shared roofs just need a little more planning, with whoever owns or manages the building. Tell us about it when you book and we’ll explain what’s needed.

Do you hold CAA registration for the drone?

We are. Our Flyer ID and Operator ID come from the CAA, and we fly a drone that weighs under 250g.

Different roofs, different checks

Steep slate and tile slopes

Steep slopes are hard to inspect safely on foot. A drone photographs them closely from a safe position.

Large commercial roofs

Fragile roof sheets and roof lights can be dangerous to walk on. With a drone, nobody has to go near them.

How it works

Every visit follows the same pattern: we hear what you’ve seen, look at the roof from every safe viewpoint, photograph what we find and make notes for the report. Most visits take about 1–2 hours for a house, rising to roughly 3–4 hours on a commercial building. In Slough, we survey everything from flats and houses to commercial buildings. Each building type brings its own access questions, from shared stairwells to locked plant rooms. Weekday and weekend visits are both available.

  1. We start with the address and what you’d like checked.
  2. Airspace restrictions are checked and permission sought where needed.
  3. On the day, we check the wind, weather and site before flying.
  4. We fly the sub-250g drone close to the roof and photograph each area.
  5. You receive a written report with the photos and our recommendations.

What a survey costs

A few things affect what a survey costs:

  • Chimneys, valleys, parapets and other details
  • Which survey package you book
  • Extra roofs, like extensions, dormers or garages
  • The use of thermal imaging or a drone

Price depends partly on the package: from £150 for Basic, £250 for Standard and £400 for Premium, including VAT. The roof’s size, height and access matter as well.

What to tell us when you contact us

We’ll normally ask about:

  • What’s prompted the survey
  • Photos of the roof, taken safely from ground level or a window
  • The type of building and roof, such as pitched or flat
  • Your postcode, so we can check access and travel

Booking is simple: just ring 07833 053749 or email us and give us a few details about the property and we will explain which survey suits. The price is agreed up front.

Landlords, agents and block managers in Slough

Shared roofs need a little more planning: we need access agreed with the freeholder or managing agent. Tell us about it when booking and we’ll plan the survey around it.

An agent can book and manage the survey for a landlord. We agree a time with the tenant beforehand.

What we’re asked to look at in Slough

Chimney tops take the worst of the weather. From the ground, you rarely see cracked flaunching or loose pots. Close-up drone photos show their condition.

Things that often lead to a survey include:

  • Vegetation in valleys and gutters
  • Slipped or missing slates on a high roof
  • Ponding and splits on a high flat roof
  • Ridge pieces that have lifted

Historic houses like Windsor Castle, about 2.1 miles south, show how far back building around Slough goes. For older roofs nearby, a look from above or with a thermal imager is a hands-off way to check condition.

Before booking anyone

  • How soon the report will arrive
  • Whether the loft is part of the inspection
  • What the survey won’t cover
  • What follow-up you get after the report

What’s in a roof survey

What a drone roof survey looks like in Slough

In this part of the South East, older roofs are mostly slate or clay tile and many newer ones concrete tile, and flat-roofed additions turn up almost everywhere. Steep or complicated roofs are often hard to see from ground level, which is where photos from the air and thermal images help. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons.

For an older house near a landmark such as St Michael and All Angels, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement. For hotels and guest houses around Slough, a roof problem found early is far less disruptive than one found by a guest, so it pays to find faults before guests do.
