About our drone roof survey in Pell Green

The weather decides whether a drone can fly. Strong wind or heavy rain rules out a flight, because control and safety come first. If the weather turns, we will agree another day or inspect what we can by other means. We check the forecast before the visit and again on site. Light wind and dry weather give the clearest close-up photos. Waiting for a better day is better than a rushed flight. We survey valleys and parapet gutters, tall and steep roofs and chimney stacks, and common reasons people get in touch are wind damage high on the roof and slipped or missing slates on a high roof.

Villages like Pell Green often stand in open country, where wind can be strong. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best with little wind. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. A change in the forecast can mean moving the visit to another day.

The report works through the roof section by section, from the main slopes down to the gutters and outlets, each with a short note and a photograph. You will see the good as well as the bad.

What we look for on each type of roof

Large commercial roofs

Many commercial roofs have fragile sheets or roof lights. A drone keeps everyone off them.

Valleys and parapet gutters

Some older terraces have a butterfly roof with a valley in the middle. You cannot see it from the street at all, but a drone shows it clearly.

How it works

Safety comes first on every visit. Everything that can be seen safely is inspected, and anything we cannot see is noted in the report. Most visits take between one and two hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. In a hamlet or village like Pell Green, a postcode doesn’t always lead to the right gate, so a few directions are welcome. The visit itself is the same as anywhere else.

  1. First, we check whether a drone is the right tool.
  2. We agree a date, including weekends, subject to the weather.
  3. We fly over the roof, keeping the camera on the property we are surveying.
  4. We also look inside the loft space where it’s safe.
  5. The report sets out what we found, with photos and recommendations.

How to prepare

  • Check the loft hatch can be reached
  • Keep pets out of the way during the survey
  • Agree roof access with the managing agent if it’s shared

Pell Green questions

Is drone flying allowed in Pell Green?

Typically it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.

Is Pell Green within the area you cover?

Yes, Pell Green is covered. Our area covers London and South East England, from towns to the smallest villages. Longer journeys are simply planned beforehand.

Can you survey at the weekend?

We carry out surveys seven days a week. To arrange a date, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form.

Do you climb onto every roof?

Not always. Some roofs are too steep or fragile to walk on safely. We use safe viewpoints, the roof space and a drone where it applies, and the report records anything we couldn’t see.

What does a roof survey cost?

Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. The final figure depends on the roof and the package you choose, confirmed before anything is booked.

What does the report include?

It sets out what we found, why it matters and what we recommend, backed by photos. It also says if any part of the roof couldn’t be seen safely, so you know exactly what was covered.

How fast do I get the report?

Basic reports arrive within 48 hours, Standard reports in 24–48 hours and Premium reports on the same day. All of them come by email, ready to forward.

Signs you need a drone roof survey in Pell Green

Hidden gutters and valleys are easy to overlook. Debris collects where nobody looks, until water overflows inside. From above, they’re easy to see.

We are often asked to look at:

  • Moss and weeds taking hold up top
  • Loose ridge and hip tiles
  • Worn lead at chimneys and walls
  • Gaps where slates or tiles have gone

If your house is among the older ones in the streets near Rehoboth Chapel, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.

What a roof survey includes

Useful tips for Pell Green property owners

Getting the most from a drone roof survey starts before we arrive and carries on afterwards. Tips:

  • Give us the full address so we can check the airspace
  • Check the loft can be reached
  • Keep dogs indoors during the visit
  • Let us know what you want to see

If you need work done, roofers can work from the photos. They’ll see exactly where each defect is.

Have leaves and moss cleared from gutters, valleys and outlets, ideally once the leaves have fallen. On tall buildings, use a professional with the right access equipment. Many leaks start with a blocked outlet.

What a survey costs

Several things affect the price of a survey:

  • Basic, Standard or Premium
  • How big the roof is
  • Chimneys, valleys, parapets and other details
  • How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see

Bigger, taller and commercial roofs take more time to survey, so they’re priced to match. You will know the figure before booking.

Getting in touch

When you call or email, these details help:

  • Whether there’s a loft hatch, a shared roof or tricky access
  • Pictures from the garden or a window, if you have them
  • The type of building and roof, such as pitched or flat
  • Where water is showing inside, if it is

Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. The exact figure depends on the roof and the package, and you can ring 07833 053749 or send us an email to find out.

Can I check my roof myself?

Inside, the loft is a good place to look, with care. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, checking for stains, damp wood or chinks of daylight.

You can learn a lot from the ground. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Never climb onto the roof to look.
