Prittlewell Drone Roof Survey
Close-up drone photographs of roofs that are hard to reach for Prittlewell, from an experienced roof surveyor. Every survey comes with a written report and photographs.

- Cracked flaunching or loose chimney pots
- Standing water on a flat roof
Common questions in Prittlewell
Is drone flying allowed in Prittlewell?
It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. London Southend Airport is about 2 miles away, so we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before any flight. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.
Do you cover Prittlewell?
Yes, Prittlewell is one of the places we work. Every survey there gets the same written report with photos, and visits run on weekdays and weekends.
How long is the visit?
It usually takes an hour or two for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. You will then get the report by email.
Is this an asbestos survey?
No. Our report may flag materials that could contain asbestos, but confirming it is a job for a specialist asbestos surveyor. Buildings built or refurbished before 2000 may contain it.
Are you structural engineers?
No. Our survey is not a structural engineer’s report, and it doesn’t include calculations. If we see signs that need an engineer’s opinion, we will recommend one.
Do you climb onto every roof?
Only when it is safe. Most of what we need can be seen from safe viewpoints, the loft and, where it applies, a drone.
Is it the same as a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey?
No. We’re experienced roof surveyors, and our survey covers the roof rather than the whole building. For the rest of the building, a RICS home survey is a separate job.
About our drone roof survey in Prittlewell
We carry out drone roof surveys in Prittlewell and across London and South East England, where the airspace and the weather allow. Flights take place on weekdays and at weekends. We check the airspace for your address before booking a flight. The report includes the drone photos and our recommendations. To ask whether a drone survey suits your roof, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email with the address. If you’ve noticed outlets choked with leaves and silt and cracked flaunching or loose chimney pots, we can find out what’s behind it, on chimney stacks, flat roofs on upper floors and valleys and parapet gutters alike.
Before any drone flight in a town like Prittlewell, the airspace is checked on the Drone Safety Map, which shows restriction zones around airports and prisons. Our drone weighs under 250g, and we’re a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). Neighbours’ privacy is part of planning every flight. Flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight, as the open category requires.
With the Standard Survey, you also get moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

Useful tips for Prittlewell property owners
Here are a few things we’d tell any owner:
- Mention anything you’ve noticed on the roof
- Book early if you are near an airport
- Clear the loft hatch so we can check inside too
- Check there’s room outside for the drone to take off
If you need work done, roofers can work from the photos. They’ll see exactly where each defect is.
After a storm, check from the garden and the street. Debris in the garden is a sign to act on. A drone can show exactly what has moved.
Why it is worth a survey now in Prittlewell
Planning roof work without seeing the roof is a gamble. Our report shows the condition of each area, with recommendations prioritised by urgency where relevant. That helps you put the work in order. Roof faults found early can be planned for, whereas a leak tends to force the timing on you.
The Premium Survey includes thermal imaging and drone inspection where it applies, which starts from £400, with VAT included. We can help you choose the package that fits what you want to find out.
Why us?
- Drones and thermal imaging where applicable
- A written report with photographs
- Customer satisfaction of 98%
- We hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID

What we look for on each type of roof
Flat roofs on tall buildings
Flat roofs on tall buildings are frequently seen by nobody. From above, standing water, splits and tired upstands are clear.
Steep slate and tile slopes
Steep roofs are risky to walk on. A drone photographs them closely from a safe position, showing slipped, cracked and missing pieces.

What a drone roof survey looks like in Prittlewell
Prittlewell is within about 1 mile of the coast, where wind off the sea can be strong. The weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead, as a small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain. Prittlewell is about 2 miles from London Southend Airport, so the Drone Safety Map is checked for restrictions around it before we fly.
Take an older house close to Church of St Mary: tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement. For hotels and guest houses around Prittlewell, a roof problem found early is far less disruptive than one found by a guest, so it pays to find faults before guests do.

Common roof problems in Prittlewell
Parapet gutters, box gutters and central valleys sit out of sight. Leaves, silt and plant growth build up unseen, until water overflows inside. A drone shows them clearly from above.
Most people get in touch after spotting something like this:
- Coverings that have slipped high up on the roof
- Chimney tops in poor condition
- Ridge and hip pieces working loose
- Moss building up on slopes and in gutters
Southchurch Hall lies about 1.3 miles south-east, so building around Prittlewell goes back a long way. Older roofs nearby can be steep and hard to see from the ground, and a survey from the air or with a thermal camera does not touch the roof itself.

How we price drone roof surveys
Our packages start from £150, with VAT included. The price for your roof depends on:
- How complicated the roof is, with its valleys, chimneys and parapets
- The size of the roof
- Extra roofs, like extensions, dormers or garages
- Basic, Standard or Premium
Larger roofs, taller buildings and commercial roofs take longer, so the price reflects that. The price is confirmed before booking.
Getting in touch
If you can, have these to hand when you get in touch:
- Pictures from the garden or a window, if you have them
- Your postcode, so we can check access and travel
- Any stains, drips or damp patches you’ve seen indoors
- Your timetable, such as an exchange date
Unsure which package suits your roof? It’s easiest to phone 07833 053749 or email us and describe the roof and what’s worrying you. We’ll explain the options and the price.
How the survey works
We do not take risks to get a closer look. Everything that can safely be seen is inspected, and if part of the roof cannot be seen, the report says so. Most visits take between one and two hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. A visit in Prittlewell runs most smoothly with the loft hatch clear, side gates open and a parking spot in mind. If you won’t be there yourself, let us know who will let us in.
- We start with the address and what you’d like checked.
- Any flight restriction at the address is looked at, with permission requested if required.
- We assess the conditions and the take-off spot first.
- We fly the sub-250g drone close to the roof and photograph each area.
- We email the report with close-up photos and recommendations.
Getting ready for the survey
- Gather any invoices or paperwork from past roof work
- Make sure the loft hatch can be reached
- Mention any parking restrictions on your street
How to book
Most bookings start with a short call: call 07833 053749 or send us an email and we’ll ask a few questions about the roof. The price is agreed before a date is set.
