About our drone roof survey in Radfall

Drone surveys suit tall houses, blocks of flats, steep roofs and large commercial roofs. They also suit fragile roofs that nobody should walk on. You get close-up views without anyone setting foot on the roof. Before the visit, we check the address for any airspace restrictions that apply. If a drone is not the right tool, we’ll say so. We’re often asked to look into hidden gutters full of leaves and eroded pointing on a chimney stack, on valleys and parapet gutters, large and complex roofs and chimney stacks.

Older buildings in small places like Radfall may be listed or in a conservation area. Neither a drone survey nor a thermal survey involves any work on the roof, which suits a building where any change needs care. Check with the council before planning any work on a listed building or one in a conservation area.

We write the report in plain English, so it makes sense without any roofing background. Each point is backed by a photograph where possible.

How we price drone roof surveys

We confirm the price for your survey before booking. These are the things that affect it:

  • Basic, Standard or Premium
  • Height and safe access
  • The use of thermal imaging or a drone
  • How complicated the roof is, with its valleys, chimneys and parapets

There are three survey packages: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, all including VAT. What your roof costs depends on its size, access and what you want to find out.

What to let us know when you get in touch

What helps most when you contact us:

  • Any marks or damp showing indoors
  • The property’s address and postcode
  • Whether there is a loft hatch, a shared roof or tricky access
  • Any photos you have, taken from the ground or a window

We confirm the price for the job before booking, so you know where you stand. Our price is from £400, including VAT. To book, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email.

Useful tips for Radfall property owners

A few practical points come up again and again on our surveys. They apply to most roofs:

  • Keep dogs indoors during the visit
  • Allow for a change of day in poor weather
  • Share the postcode so we can check for restrictions
  • Make sure the loft can be reached

There’s a follow-up after 12 months with the Premium Survey. It shows whether anything has moved or worn since the first visit, and whether work has done its job.

Have leaves and moss cleared from gutters, valleys and outlets, ideally once the leaves have fallen. On high roofs, leave clearing to a professional. Blocked hidden gutters cause many leaks.

Radfall: your questions answered

Is drone flying allowed in Radfall?

That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain.

Do you cover smaller places like Radfall?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We cover the whole of London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when booking.

Do you carry out surveys on Saturdays and Sundays?

We survey seven days a week: weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Just tell us the days that suit you.

What’s in the survey report?

A photo-illustrated written report, covering the condition of the roof, the defects we found and what we recommend. Standard adds moisture detection and a structural check; Premium adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable and structural analysis.

Can you give me structural calculations?

No. We’re roof surveyors, not structural engineers. We’ll recommend an engineer if we see signs that call for one.

Can you tell me if my roof has asbestos?

No. We do not carry out asbestos surveys or testing. We flag materials that could contain asbestos, such as cement sheets or soffits on pre-2000 buildings, and recommend a specialist asbestos surveyor checks them before they’re disturbed.

How long have you been surveying roofs?

Over 20 years and more than 5,000 surveys.

Why it is worth a survey now in Radfall

Small defects on a high roof grow with each storm. Spotting them early keeps the work smaller, whatever height the roof is. Older and listed buildings around Radfall may need consent and matching materials for repairs, so leaving a defect until it is urgent leaves less time to plan.

Simple, low roofs take less time to survey than tall or complicated ones, and the package matters as well. We’ll give you the figure before anything is booked.

Why us?

  • Prices that include VAT
  • Satisfaction rate of 98%
  • Drone and thermal imaging surveys available
  • An independent view of the roof

How it works

After the inspection, everything we found is written up in a report with photographs, sent to you by email. On timing, most surveys take roughly 1–2 hours for most houses, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. Older rural homes like those around Radfall can have a main roof, lower lean-to roofs and outbuildings all joined together. Each part is looked at from wherever it can be seen safely.

  1. We confirm whether a drone suits your roof.
  2. A visit is booked for a weekday, Saturday or Sunday, weather permitting.
  3. We fly over the roof, keeping the camera on the property we’re surveying.
  4. Where there’s safe access, we check the loft as well.
  5. The report sets out what we found, with photos and recommendations.

Getting ready for the survey

Can I check my roof myself?

During heavy rain, look at the gutters from the ground or a window. Overflowing water can point to a blockage or a sagging run.

Inside, the loft is a good place to look, with care. Use a torch and stay on the joists or boards, and look for staining, damp timber or daylight coming through.

Airspace, weather and Radfall roofs

Radfall is within about 2 miles of the coast, and wind near the sea can be strong. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or a downpour, so the weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead. Handmade clay tiles, including Kent peg tiles hung on pegs through two holes, are typical of older Kent buildings. You’ll also find oast houses and timber-framed Wealden hall houses among the county’s older buildings. Steep or complicated roofs are frequently hard to see from the ground, which is where close-up aerial shots and thermal images help.

For site and facilities teams at buildings such as The Whitstable School, a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it. For any home in Radfall, it is the small, early fault that is cheapest to put right.
