Drone roof surveys near Ringlestone

Drone roof survey in Ringlestone: what you get

Tall, steep, large or fragile roofs cannot always be inspected up close. A drone takes close-up photographs of those roofs from the air. You see slates, ridges, chimneys, valleys and gutters in detail. Everything we find goes into a written report with photos. It’s also a good option where walking on the roof could break slates or tiles. Where a flight isn’t possible, we explain why. Typical surveys look at slipped or missing slates on a high roof and debris building up in hidden gutters, on valleys and parapet gutters, large and complex roofs and tall and steep roofs.

Places like Ringlestone can be near small airfields or other airspace restrictions, so the Drone Safety Map is checked before any flight. Exposed sites can be windy, and a small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind. Neighbours’ privacy is part of planning each flight, along with the airspace and the weather.

The report is written in plain words, so it makes sense without any roofing background. Each point is backed by a photo where possible, with the urgent items made clear.

Checking the roof from ground level

After heavy rain, check ceilings and the tops of walls for new stains. Photograph them and note the date, as it helps a surveyor trace the cause.

Look up at the roof after a storm, from ground level: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.

Tips from our surveys

These tips come from what we see on roofs every week, before and after a survey:

  • Allow time for permission if you’re in a flight restriction zone
  • Expect us to rearrange if it’s too windy or wet
  • Tell us about any leaks or concerns
  • Let us know the exact address when you book

We email the report to you, including the close-up photos taken by the drone. Findings are set out in plain English, with recommendations prioritised by urgency where relevant.

Have high or hard-to-reach roofs surveyed every few years. Regular photos make changes easy to spot, and early repairs keep water out.

What this survey can’t tell you

Before booking, it is worth knowing what a survey will not do:

  • Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission
  • Flights in strong wind or heavy rain
  • The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)

If you are not sure which survey you need, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we’ll give you a straight answer. The full list of what we check.

What we check

  • Fragile roofs
  • Chimney stacks
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Large and complex roofs

What a drone roof survey looks like in Ringlestone

Handmade clay tiles, including Kent peg tiles hung on pegs through two holes, are typical of older Kent buildings. Oast houses and timber-framed Wealden hall houses are part of the county’s older buildings too. Steep or complicated roofs are often hard to see from the ground, which is where close-up aerial shots and thermal images help. Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight.

If you look after a building like North Borough Junior School, a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it. If you run a business near Fremlin Walk, large commercial roofs are often easiest to see from the air or with a thermal camera. Stoneacre, about 3.7 miles south-east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Ringlestone. Aerial photos and thermal images let an old roof be checked without anyone disturbing it.

Ringlestone is about 2 miles north of Maidstone, in Kent. We provide drone roof surveys for homeowners, landlords and businesses in Ringlestone. Ringlestone is one of the places in Kent we cover for drone roof surveys.

What affects the price in Ringlestone

We confirm the price for your survey before you book. These are the things that affect it:

  • The use of thermal imaging or a drone
  • Extensions, dormers and garages with roofs of their own
  • The type of building, from a house to a block or an office
  • The shape of the roof and its details

The Premium Survey includes thermal imaging and drone inspection where it applies, from £400 with VAT included. We will tell you which package suits the questions you have.

What we need to know

These details help when you get in touch:

  • Any marks or damp showing indoors
  • Your postcode, so we can check access and travel
  • How the loft is reached, if there is one
  • Your timetable, such as an exchange date

Buyers should book once an offer has been accepted, so there is time to use the report before exchange. Otherwise, simply call 07833 053749 or email us whenever suits you.

What we do, step by step

Once we’ve finished looking, we write up our findings as a written report with photographs. As for time on site, most surveys take about 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Parking around Ringlestone is usually easier than in a town centre, but mention lanes, gates or long drives. Low roofs on bungalows can often be seen well from the ground, and the loft shows the rest.

  1. We start with the address and what you’d like checked.
  2. Any flight restriction at the address is checked, with permission requested if required.
  3. Before take-off, the wind, the weather and the launch spot are looked at.
  4. The drone photographs the roof closely, kept in sight throughout.
  5. You receive a written report with the photos and our recommendations.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about parking before the day
  • Clear the way to the loft hatch
  • Jot down any questions you want answered

Advice

For landlords and managing agents

If the property is let, the agent or a tenant can let us in, at a time agreed ahead of time. Surveys run seven days a week, which can make access easier.

We survey roofs for landlords and agents as well as householders. A written report with photos gives you a clear record of the roof.

Ringlestone: your questions answered

Is my home in Ringlestone listed or in a conservation area?

Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the local council can tell you about conservation areas. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.

Can you fly a drone over a roof in Ringlestone?

It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain.

Can you tell me if my roof has asbestos?

No. Asbestos surveys and sampling aren’t something we do. Where a material might contain it, such as old cement sheets on a building from before 2000, the report flags it.

How much is a survey?

Our price is from £400, including VAT. What you pay for your roof depends on its size, height, access and the package.

How many surveys have you done?

More than 5,000 surveys over 20+ years.

Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?

Yes. A shared roof needs access agreed first. Mention it when you get in touch and we’ll plan the survey around it.

Do you survey on Saturdays and Sundays?

Visits run seven days a week in the daytime, which suits people who work during the week. Let us know your preferred days when you book.
