Drone roof survey in Speenhamland

Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. It stays within sight for the whole flight, and well below the 120-metre height limit. Each flight is planned with the site and its surroundings in mind. Airspace and weather are checked before every flight. We never fly where it is not safe. Common reasons to book are cracked slates and tiles out of sight from below and loose ridge and hip tiles, across tall and steep roofs, fragile roofs and flat roofs on upper floors.

Around Speenhamland, plenty of roofs are low enough to see partly from the garden or the street. Chimney tops, valleys and rear slopes are where close-up or thermal images help most. The forecast decides the day, as calm, dry conditions suit both. Even so, a close-up image often shows wear on ridges and flashings that a view from the ground misses.

We keep jargon out of it: where something needs attention, it says so plainly, along with how urgent it is.

Rented homes, blocks and businesses

Businesses and commercial landlords can book us too, including offices, shops and units. Larger roofs take longer, so they’re priced to suit.

What a drone roof survey doesn’t cover

In fairness, a roof survey has limits:

  • A flight on a day when the weather isn’t safe
  • Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission
  • Structural calculations (that’s a structural engineer’s job)

If in doubt, call 07833 053749 or send us an email and we will recommend the right survey before booking. What a survey covers and does not.

Drone roof surveys in Speenhamland: local notes

Shaw House, about 0.5 miles north-east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Speenhamland. On older houses around here, roofs frequently carry the marks of earlier repairs, from replaced slates to new lead. We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight.

The streets around a church such as St Nicolas Church are often among the oldest in a place, and if you own one of the older houses nearby, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from the ground, and that’s where a view from above or with a thermal imager helps. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Speenhamland School, a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it. A roof leak in a hotel or guest house around Speenhamland means lost rooms as well as repairs, so it pays to find faults before guests do.

Should I look at the roof myself first?

After heavy rain, check ceilings and the tops of walls for new stains. Photograph them and note the date, which helps when we look at the roof.

It helps to keep a record: dates of leaks, photos from ground level and any work done on the roof. Share it with us when booking.

How the survey changes by roof type

Steep slate and tile slopes

Steep slopes are hard to inspect safely on foot. From the air, every course of slates or tiles can be seen, showing slipped, cracked and missing pieces.

Chimney stacks

Leaning stacks and loose pots are easier to judge from above. We record what we find with photos.

How we price drone roof surveys

To price your survey, we look at:

  • Roof area
  • Whether you choose the Basic, Standard or Premium Survey
  • Building height and the viewpoints available
  • Features like valleys, chimneys, dormers and parapets

Bigger, taller and commercial roofs take more time to survey, so they’re priced to match. The price is confirmed before booking.

Getting in touch

We will usually ask about:

  • The reason for the survey, like buying, a leak or storm damage
  • Anything about access we should know
  • Where the property is, with the postcode
  • Where water is showing inside, if it is

Prices start from £400, including VAT. The exact figure depends on the roof and the package, and you can call 07833 053749 or drop us an email to find out.

The survey, step by step

The visit has one job: to look at the roof as closely as is safe and record what we find. Notes and photos go into the written report. It usually takes between one and two hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. A visit to Speenhamland is planned like any other: the time, the access and where to park are agreed ahead of time. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays. If there are outbuildings or garages you want looked at, mention them.

  1. You give us the address so we can check the airspace.
  2. We arrange any permission that is needed before we fly.
  3. On the day, we check the weather and the site before flying.
  4. We fly the drone close to the roof to photograph it in detail, always in sight.
  5. Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos and recommendations.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about any leaks, stains or damp patches you know of
  • Make sure the loft hatch can be reached
  • For a flat or shared roof, check access with the freeholder or managing agent

Advice

Speenhamland: your questions answered

Do you cover smaller places like Speenhamland?

Yes, we do. We survey roofs across London and the South East, from towns to the smallest villages. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

Does a conservation area affect roof work in Speenhamland?

The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. It is worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.

Do I need to be at home?

That depends on the survey. Inside the building and in the loft, we need someone to let us in.

Do you carry out surveys on Saturdays and Sundays?

Surveys run seven days a week. To find a day that suits you, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form.

What does the report include?

It works through the roof part by part, in writing and with photos. Points are put in order of urgency where relevant.

Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?

Yes, if whoever owns or manages the building agrees access. On a shared roof we can only inspect the parts we are allowed to reach, and the report makes that clear.

Is this an asbestos survey?

No. We do not sample or test for asbestos. The report may flag materials that could contain asbestos on buildings built or refurbished before 2000, with a recommendation to have a specialist asbestos surveyor check before it’s disturbed.
