Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Lambourn
Prices start from £400, including VAT. A drone inspection, where it applies, is also part of our Premium Survey, along with structural analysis, a same-day report and an in-person consultation. It also includes a follow-up after 12 months. We will tell you if a drone is not the right tool for your roof. You get a written report with the close-up photos from the flight. If you’re worried about outlets choked with leaves and silt and ponding and splits on a high flat roof, a survey will tell you what’s going on.
In smaller places like Lambourn, many homes are bungalows and houses with roofs you can partly see from the ground. Chimney tops, valleys and rear slopes are where close-up or thermal images help most. Both depend on the weather on the day. Close-up images frequently show wear on ridges, verges and flashings that cannot be judged properly from the ground.
Nothing in the report is left vague: where something needs attention, it says so plainly, and where it can wait, that is said too.

Why get it checked now?
It’s hard to plan maintenance for a roof nobody has looked at. You get photos of every part we can see, with recommendations prioritised by urgency where relevant. That helps you put the work in order. Homes in smaller places like Lambourn can face more weather, so a loose ridge or verge soon lets rain in. Each storm lifts it a little further, and water follows.

Checking the roof from ground level
Look up at the roof after a storm, from ground level: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.
If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Use a torch and stay on the joists or boards, checking for stains, damp wood or chinks of daylight.
Common questions in Lambourn
How do I find out if my home in Lambourn is listed?
Check Historic England’s online list first, then ask the council about conservation areas and any Article 4 direction. It matters most if you are planning to re-roof in a different material.
Is Lambourn within the area you cover?
Yes, Lambourn is covered. We work right across London and the South East, from towns to the smallest villages. Longer journeys are simply planned beforehand.
Will I get photos?
Yes. Photos are taken throughout the survey, and they go into the written report.
How long does a drone roof survey take?
It normally takes about one to two hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Time for the pre-flight checks is included.
Will you go up on the roof?
Not always. Safety comes first, and fragile or steep roofs can’t always be walked on. We use safe viewpoints, the loft space and a drone where applicable.
Can you survey a shared roof?
Yes. A shared roof needs access agreed first, with whoever owns or manages the building. Mention it when you contact us and we will explain what’s needed.
Is this an asbestos survey?
No. We don’t sample or test for asbestos. The report may flag materials that could contain asbestos on buildings built or refurbished before 2000.
When you need someone else
We only report whatever is safely visible on the day, so there are some things a survey cannot cover:
- Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission
- What’s under the slates, tiles or felt
- Structural calculations (that is a structural engineer’s job)
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can phone 07833 053749 or send us an email and we will tell you before you book. What a survey covers and doesn’t.
What we check
- Large and complex roofs
- Chimney stacks
- Valleys and parapet gutters
- Fragile roofs
- Tall and steep roofs
- Flat roofs on upper floors
What we do, step by step
On the day, we begin with a quick chat about the roof and anything that’s worrying you. After that, we look at everything we can see safely, from the ground, from windows, in the roof space and by drone where it applies. Most surveys take between one and two hours for most houses, and longer for a large or complex roof. A visit to Lambourn is planned like any other: the time, the access and where to park are agreed in advance. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays. Let us know about any garages, outbuildings or extensions you want included.
- First comes the address, plus a note of what worries you about the roof.
- Any flight restriction at the address is checked, with permission requested if required.
- Before take-off, the wind, the weather and the launch spot are looked at.
- We fly the sub-250g drone close to the roof and photograph each area.
- You receive a written report with the photos and our recommendations.
Before the survey
- Leave a clear route to the loft
- Buyers: confirm access with the estate agent or seller
- For flats, make sure roof access has been agreed

Advice
Drones, thermal imaging and Lambourn roofs
The wider area around Lambourn has a long history of building, with Ashdown House about 3.5 miles north-west. Period homes nearby can have lead valleys, tall chimneys and a patchwork of past repairs. Slate and clay tile are the usual coverings on older South East houses, with concrete tiles on many later estates. Where a roof is steep, tall or hard to see from the ground, drone photos and thermal images add detail.
Take a building like Lambourn CofE Primary School: a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it. Take an older house close to Church of St Michael and All Angels: older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where photos from the air and thermal images help.
