About our drone roof survey in Stone

They suit tall buildings, steep or large roofs and roofs that are hard to see from the ground. They’re useful where walking on the roof could damage it or isn’t safe. The roof is photographed without being disturbed. We check the airspace for your address before the visit. We will tell you if another approach would work better. If you’ve noticed standing water on a flat roof and storm damage on steep or tall roofs, a survey will tell you what’s going on, whatever the roof.

Around Stone, older homes can have thin loft insulation and later additions with roofs of their own. Thermal patterns and close-up photos together give a fuller picture of the roof. Findings are checked with moisture readings where needed. Calm, dry weather suits both methods, so the date is set with the forecast in mind.

Most points in the report come with a picture, so you can see each defect rather than just read about it. Anything out of sight on the day is listed as such.

Why it’s worth a survey now in Stone

Photos from a drone survey show how the roof looks today. Next time, you can compare and see what has moved or worn. It helps when you plan ahead. With lower homes, common in places like Stone, there is little between a roof defect and the ceiling, so water can show inside quickly once it gets past the covering. Finding the cause first saves a second job inside.

A Basic Survey starts from £150, with VAT included. Standard is from £250 and Premium from £400. You’ll know the price for the job before booking.

Why us?

  • 5,000+ roofs surveyed
  • Clear package prices, with VAT included
  • We hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID
  • An independent view of the roof

Drone roof surveys around Stone

Stone lies within about 5 miles of the sea, and wind near the sea can be strong. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, so the weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead. The wider area around Stone has a long history of building, with Hall Place and Gardens about 4.8 miles west. On older houses around here, roofs often carry the marks of earlier repairs, from replaced slates to new lead, and the council can say whether a home is in a conservation area.

The streets around a church such as Church of St Mary are often among the oldest in a place, and if your home is one of the older ones nearby, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof often shows up clearly on a thermal image. If you run a business near Bluewater, a commercial roof can be photographed from above without anyone walking on it. Anyone responsible for a site like Stone St Mary's CofE Primary School will know that thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof.

What we cannot see

It’s a careful look at the roof, not the whole story. The main limits are:

  • Close-up photos of next door’s property
  • Anything inside the loft or under the coverings
  • Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission

If you’re not sure which survey you need, call 07833 053749 or send us an email and we will give you a straight answer. What our survey covers.

For landlords and managing agents

Where a roof is shared: access has to be agreed with whoever owns or manages the building. Mention it when you get in touch and we’ll plan the survey around it.

Surveys can also be booked by buyers’ agents acting for a client. The report is emailed, so it can go straight to your client, photos included.

Stone: your questions answered

Is Stone within the area you cover?

Yes, Stone is covered. Our area covers London and the South East, from towns to the smallest villages. The journey is planned ahead, so it’s useful to know about access.

Does a conservation area affect roof work in Stone?

For listing, use Historic England’s list; for conservation areas, ask the council. It matters most if you’re planning to re-roof in a different material.

Does your drone take thermal images?

Our drone survey is about close-up photos. If you need thermal imaging, it is part of the Premium Survey.

Do you hold CAA registration for the drone?

Yes, we are. Our Flyer ID and Operator ID come from the CAA, and the drone itself is under 250g.

Can a drone see inside my loft?

No. It sees only the outer surfaces. Leaks, damp timbers and condensation often show first from inside, so we check the loft too where we can.

What happens after the survey?

You’ll get the report by email. With Standard there is a follow-up consultation; with Premium, an in-person consultation.

Do you climb onto every roof?

Only when it’s safe. Some roofs are too steep or fragile to walk on safely. Safe viewpoints, the loft and a drone where applicable let us see the rest, and the report records anything we couldn’t see.

Different roofs, different checks

Chimney stacks

The drone shows the outside of the stack, and it isn’t a flue or gas safety check. We’ll say if a specialist is needed.

Ridges and hips

Ridges and hips are the most exposed parts of a pitched roof. From above, we can see loose ridges and missing mortar.

What happens on the day

Before we start, tell us why you’ve booked: a purchase, a leak, a storm, new work or simply peace of mind. It helps us focus on what matters most to you. The visit usually takes between one and two hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Parking around Stone is typically easier than in a town centre, but mention lanes, gates or long drives. On bungalows and lower roofs, much can be seen from ground level, with the loft showing the underside.

  1. We confirm whether a drone suits your roof.
  2. A date is fixed, with a fallback in case the weather turns.
  3. Aerial photos are taken of your roof only, not the neighbours’.
  4. We also look inside the roof space where it’s safe.
  5. Everything is written up, with the aerial photos and our advice.

Before the survey

  • Dig out any old roof reports or invoices
  • Leave side gates unlocked
  • Tell us where we can park nearby

Advice

Checking the roof from ground level

During heavy rain, look at the gutters from ground level or a window. Overflowing water can be a sign of a blockage or a gutter that has dropped.

Inside, the loft is a good place to look, with care. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, checking for stains, damp wood or chinks of daylight.
