Independent drone roof surveys in West Blatchington

Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in West Blatchington

Some roofs are hard or unsafe to reach. A drone takes close-up photographs of those roofs from the air. It shows coverings, ridges, chimneys, valleys and gutters clearly. Everything we find goes into a report with photos. It also suits roofs that would be damaged by someone walking on them. If we cannot fly, we tell you why. Typical surveys look at loose ridge and hip tiles and lead work pulling away at abutments, on large and complex roofs, fragile roofs and flat roofs on upper floors.

Around West Blatchington, older homes can have thin loft insulation and later additions with roofs of their own. A thermal image can show where heat is escaping or where moisture may be trapped, and drone photos show the roof surfaces themselves. Anything that looks like moisture is checked with a meter. Results depend on the weather, so the visit is planned around the forecast.

Pictures do a lot of the work in our reports, so you can see each defect rather than just read about it. If something couldn’t be seen safely, the report is clear about it.

Why act early in West Blatchington

Faults on high roofs tend to be found late. By then, timbers, ceilings and insulation may be wet. Looking from above picks up the early signs. Homes in smaller places like West Blatchington can face more weather, so a loose ridge or verge soon lets rain in. Each storm lifts it a little further.

Prices start from £400, including VAT. Packages run from Basic at £150 through Standard at £250 to Premium at £400, with VAT included, and we’ll tell you which fits.

Why book with us

  • Packages from £150, inc. VAT
  • Drone and thermal imaging surveys available
  • 5,000+ surveys completed
  • Surveys on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays

What we can’t see

To be straight with you, there are limits to any roof survey:

  • A flight on a day when the weather is not safe
  • Structural calculations (that is a structural engineer’s job)
  • The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we will tell you. The full list of what we check.

What we check

  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Fragile roofs
  • Chimney stacks
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Flat roofs on upper floors

How it works

When we arrive, we start by asking what you’ve noticed and what you want to find out. After that, we check everything we can see safely. The survey typically takes about 1–2 hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. In a smaller place like West Blatchington, parking is seldom the issue; lanes, gates and long drives are worth mentioning. On bungalows and lower roofs, much can be seen from the ground, with the loft showing the underside.

  1. You give us the address so we can check the airspace.
  2. If permission is needed, we ask for it before the visit.
  3. We assess the wind, the weather and the surroundings before take-off.
  4. We fly the drone close to the roof to photograph it in detail, always in sight.
  5. You receive a written report with photos and recommendations.

How to prepare

  • Agree roof access with the managing agent if it is shared
  • Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors
  • Gather any invoices or paperwork from past roof work

Checking the roof from ground level

A DIY look is useful, but it is not a survey. From the ground, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are often out of sight.

Keep a simple record: dates of leaks, photos from ground level and any work done on the roof. Share it with us when booking, as it helps us focus the survey.

How we price drone roof surveys

Prices always include VAT. What changes the price is:

  • House, block, shop or office
  • The package you choose: Basic, Standard or Premium
  • Features like valleys, chimneys, dormers and parapets
  • Height and safe access

We offer three survey packages: the Basic Survey from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, all including VAT. What your roof costs depends on its size, access and what you want to find out.

Helping us price your survey

There’s no need for technical words. Just let us know:

  • Dates you are working to, such as exchange
  • Your postcode, so we can check access and travel
  • What made you get in touch
  • Any marks or damp showing indoors

Once you know what you need, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email. From there it’s a case of choosing a package, agreeing the price and fixing a day, weekday or weekend.

For landlords and managing agents

Landlords, agents and building managers in West Blatchington and across Brighton and Hove can book any of our surveys. For a price for a let property or a block, call 07833 053749 or send us an email.

If the property is let, the agent or a tenant can let us in, at a time agreed ahead of time. Surveys run on any day of the week, which can make access easier.

Flying and imaging in West Blatchington

West Blatchington is within about 2 miles of the coast, and wind near the sea can be strong. The weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead, as a small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or a downpour. In Sussex, older roofs are frequently handmade clay tile, frequently with tile-hanging on the walls below. A few old Sussex buildings still carry heavy Horsham stone slabs. Many roofs like these cannot be judged properly from the pavement, and that is where a view from above or a thermal image earns its place.

With Preston Manor & Gardens about 1.3 miles east, the area around West Blatchington has a long history. A drone or thermal survey doesn’t involve any work on the roof, which suits older buildings. If you look after a shop, office or commercial unit, for example near Churchill Square, a commercial roof can be photographed from above without anyone walking on it. If you live in an older home near St Peter's Church, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.

FAQs for West Blatchington

Is West Blatchington within the area you cover?

Yes, West Blatchington is covered. Our area covers London and the South East, from towns to the smallest villages. Longer journeys are simply planned ahead of time.

How do I find out if my home in West Blatchington is listed?

We cannot confirm that for you, but Historic England’s list and your council can. Both listing and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.

What will the report tell me?

A written report with photographs, covering the condition of the roof, the defects we found and what we recommend. Standard adds moisture detection and a structural check; Premium adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable and structural analysis.

Does the weather affect a drone survey?

The conditions on the day decide whether a flight goes ahead. We won’t fly in high wind or heavy rain. If the weather turns, we will discuss another date.

Will you photograph next door’s garden?

The camera stays on your roof, not on neighbouring gardens or windows. We inspect only the roof you’ve asked about. A word with next door beforehand is a good idea.

How soon will I get the report?

Report times are set by the package. Basic: within 48 hours. Standard: 24 to 48 hours. Premium: the same day. If you have a deadline, such as an exchange date, tell us when you book.

Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?

Yes, once whoever controls the roof agrees access. On a shared roof we can only inspect the parts we’re allowed to reach, and the report makes that clear.
