Drone roof survey in Wood Street Village, Surrey
Drone roof surveys in Wood Street Village, with over 20 years’ experience behind it. Every survey ends with a written report and photos.
- Standing water on a flat roof
- Cracked slates and tiles out of sight from below
- Eroded pointing on a chimney stack
What affects the cost of drone roof surveys
The price reflects the time and kit the roof needs. The main factors are:
- If the survey needs thermal imaging or a drone
- How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
- How complicated the roof is, with its valleys, chimneys and parapets
- How big the roof is
One thing that affects the price is the package: from £150 for Basic, £250 for Standard and £400 for Premium, with VAT included. The roof’s size, height and access matter as well.
What we need to know
We’ll typically ask about:
- Your timetable, such as an exchange date
- Pictures of the roof from a safe spot, if you have them
- The property’s address and postcode
- How the loft is reached, if there is one
You can call us seven days a week. To book or ask a question, call 07833 053749 or email us.
How a drone roof survey works in Wood Street Village
Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. We keep it in sight throughout, and within the 120-metre limit that applies to all drones in the open category. Each flight is planned with the site and its surroundings in mind. Airspace and weather are checked before every flight. Safety comes first on every visit. Typical surveys look at slates or tiles shifted by high winds and vegetation in valleys and gutters, across valleys and parapet gutters, flat roofs on upper floors and chimney stacks.
Older buildings in small places like Wood Street Village may be listed or in a conservation area. Neither a drone survey nor a thermal survey involves any work on the roof, so it is a gentle way to see the condition of an old roof, before anyone decides what work it needs. Changes that affect a listed building’s special interest need listed building consent, so check with the council first.
If any part of the roof couldn’t be seen safely, we say so in the report. You will know exactly what was inspected and what wasn’t, and what we’d suggest next.

Common questions in Wood Street Village
Will you come out to Wood Street Village?
Yes, we do. We survey roofs across London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned beforehand.
Is my home in Wood Street Village listed or in a conservation area?
You can check whether a building is listed on Historic England’s list, and your council can tell you if it’s in a conservation area. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.
Will the drone show what’s under the tiles?
No. It photographs the outside, not the inside. The loft space is checked separately, where there’s safe access, as damp and daylight frequently show there first.
Is your drone operator registered?
Yes. We hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. We fly a sub-250g drone and keep it in sight at all times.
What about my neighbours’ privacy?
The camera stays on your roof, not on neighbouring gardens or windows. We only survey what the owner has asked us to. A word with next door beforehand is a good idea.
Can you fly a drone in central London?
In some places, only with permission. Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs have restricted areas that need NATS permission. Every address is checked first.
When does the report arrive?
That depends on the survey you book: the Basic Survey report arrives within 48 hours, the Standard Survey in 24 to 48 hours and the Premium Survey the same day. Reports are sent by email.
Roof by roof
Flat roofs on tall buildings
Outlets, edges and roof plant are common problem areas. We photograph them closely.
Chimney stacks
From the air, a lean or a loose pot is easy to see. We record what we find with photos.
Honest limits
Every survey has limits, and it’s better to know them up front. Keep these in mind:
- Structural calculations (that is a structural engineer’s job)
- Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission
- What’s under the slates, tiles or felt
If you are not sure which survey you need, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking. What our survey covers.
What this survey covers
- Tall and steep roofs
- Chimney stacks
- Flat roofs on upper floors
- Fragile roofs
- Large and complex roofs
- Valleys and parapet gutters
Checking the roof from ground level
After heavy rain, check ceilings and the tops of walls for new stains. Take a photo and write down when you saw it, which helps when we look at the roof.
Look up at the roof after a storm, from ground level: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.
How the survey works
We photograph the roof as we go, so the report shows exactly what we saw. Close-ups come from the safest viewpoint available, including by drone where it is applicable and the weather allows. Most surveys take about 1–2 hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Cottages and farmhouses around Wood Street Village often have roofs at several levels, with lean-tos and outbuildings attached. Each part is looked at from wherever it can safely be seen, and anything we cannot see is noted.
- We start by making sure a drone flight makes sense for the roof.
- A date is fixed, with a fallback in case the weather turns.
- The roof is photographed from the air, with the camera kept on your property.
- If the loft can be reached safely, it’s checked too.
- Everything is written up, with the aerial photos and our advice.
How to prepare
- Find any records of previous roof work
- Note where any stains or damp appear
- Clear the way to the loft hatch
