Drone roof survey in Wanborough, Surrey
Drone roof surveys in Wanborough and the rest of Surrey. We survey seven days a week.
- Worn lead at chimneys and walls
- Slipped or missing slates on a high roof
- Plant growth and moss on the roof
Tips that help
From years of surveys, a few habits stand out as worth the effort:
- Be ready to move the date if the weather turns
- Keep a clear space in the garden or drive for take-off
- Let us know what you want to see
- Keep pets indoors during the flight
There’s a follow-up after 12 months with the Premium Survey. It shows whether anything has moved or worn since the first visit, and whether work has done its job.
Don’t block the vents at the eaves. Poor airflow lets condensation build up. Make sure insulation does not block the airflow.
Drone roof survey in Wanborough: what you get
Every flight starts with an airspace check. Flight restriction zones around airports like Heathrow, Gatwick and London City need permission from the airport or air traffic control. Parts of central London have restricted areas too, where NATS permission is needed. If we cannot fly, we use other safe vantage points instead and tell you. Prisons have their own drone restriction zones too. Common reasons to book are chimney tops in poor condition and outlets choked with leaves and silt, on tall and steep roofs, flat roofs on upper floors and large and complex roofs.
In a small place like Wanborough, open ground can mean strong wind. Strong wind or heavy rain stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. The visit is planned around the forecast, along with the journey and access. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.
Every survey ends with a written report, with photos, emailed to you. It sets out the condition of the roof, any defects and our written recommendations.

What a drone roof survey does not cover
It’s a careful look at the roof, not the whole story. Its limits include:
- Flights in a restricted zone without permission
- Roofs and gardens beyond the one we are surveying
- Photos in conditions too poor to fly
If you are not sure which survey you need, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email and we will give you a straight answer before you book. What a survey covers and does not.
What this survey covers
- Large and complex roofs
- Flat roofs on upper floors
- Tall and steep roofs
- Valleys and parapet gutters
- Fragile roofs
- Chimney stacks
How it works
We photograph the roof as we go, so you can see in the report what we found and where. Close-ups come from the safest viewpoint available. Most surveys take about one to two hours for a house, while a commercial roof takes nearer three to four hours. Around Wanborough, older homes can have small or awkward roof spaces, so let us know about the loft hatch and any ladder. We only go where it is safe.
- We start with the address and what you’d like checked.
- We check the airspace and seek any permission needed.
- Before take-off, the wind, the weather and the launch spot are checked.
- The drone photographs the roof closely, kept in sight throughout.
- You receive a written report with the photos and our recommendations.
Before the survey
- Find any records of previous roof work
- Point out any leaks or damp patches
- Make sure we can get to the back of the property

Photos help, if you have them. Pictures from the ground or a window are fine; never climb up to get a better view. To send them or to book, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form.
Advice
DIY checks: what’s safe
It helps to keep a record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Send it with your enquiry and it will help the survey.
Fresh stains on ceilings or walls after rain are worth noting. Take a photo and write down when you saw it, which helps when we check the roof.
Flying and imaging in Wanborough
In Surrey, older roofs are often handmade clay tile, with tile-hanging on many upper walls. Horsham stone slab roofs survive on some old buildings in Surrey. Older coverings on steep or tall roofs are hard to judge from below, so close-up aerial photos and thermal images help. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions.
With Wanborough Manor about 0.1 miles east, the area around Wanborough has a long history. For older roofs nearby, a look by drone or thermal camera is a hands-off way to check condition. If you live in an older home near Church of St Bartholomew, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof often shows up clearly on a thermal image.
Wanborough is about 4 miles west of Guildford, in Surrey. We provide drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Wanborough and nearby. Our area takes in places right across Surrey, from the larger towns to small villages.

What we’re asked to look at in Wanborough
Hidden gutters and valleys are easy to overlook. Debris collects where nobody looks, until it causes a leak inside. A drone shows them clearly from above.
Most people get in touch when they’ve noticed something like this:
- Cracked mortar along the ridge
- Eroded pointing on a chimney stack
- Damage after a storm that can’t be seen from below
- Gaps where slates or tiles have gone
Take a building like Puttenham CofE Infant School: a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it.

- Do they have a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID for drone work?
- How soon the report will arrive

Wanborough: your questions answered
How do I find out if my home in Wanborough is listed?
The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. It’s worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.
Can you fly a drone over a roof in Wanborough?
The answer turns on the exact location and the conditions on the day. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain.
How many surveys have you done?
More than 5,000 surveys over 20+ years, across London and South East England.
Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?
Yes, once whoever controls the roof agrees access. We check the parts we’re given access to.
How long does the survey take?
Expect it to take an hour or two at most homes, while a commercial roof takes nearer three to four hours. You’ll then get the report by email.
Does this replace a RICS home survey?
No. We look at the roof, not the whole building, so it’s not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey. Many buyers have both.
Do I need to be at home?
If the survey includes the loft or the inside of the building, someone needs to let us in. We’ll talk about access when you book.
