- Gutters full of debris and silt
- Sagging gutters and loose brackets
- Overflowing valley or parapet gutters
What affects the price in Crow
Our packages start from £150, inc. VAT. What you pay for your roof depends on:
- The height of the building and how the roof can be seen safely
- Basic, Standard or Premium
- Chimneys, valleys, parapets and other details
- The size of the roof
Bigger, taller and commercial roofs take more time to survey, so the price reflects that. You will know the figure before booking.
Helping us price your survey
A few details help us recommend the right survey and price. When you get in touch, it’s useful to mention:
- Your timetable, such as an exchange date
- Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
- Any photos you have, taken from ground level or a window
- The property’s address and postcode
Prices start from £150, including VAT. What you pay depends on the roof’s size, access and the package, so ring 07833 053749 or email us with the details.
Gutter survey in Crow
Most blocked gutters are full of leaves, moss or silt. Buildings near trees collect more, and moss washing off a tiled or slate roof adds to it. We note where gutters are clogged or holding water, which outlets and hoppers are choked and whether any overflows are doing their job. Photos show each problem clearly. It is an easy job to put off but it rarely improves. We’re frequently asked to look into brackets that have dropped or snapped and gutters overflowing in heavy rain, on outlets and hoppers, downpipes and parapet and box gutters.
In a village or hamlet like Crow, older cottages and farmhouses often sit alongside barns, outbuildings and a few newer houses. Roofs there can be clay tile, slate, stone or thatch, and chimney stacks are often old. Each needs checking in its own way, and thatch is a specialist material we report on as far as it can be seen. On older roofs, it is normally the chimneys and lead flashings that need work first.
Pictures do a lot of the work in our reports, because a photo of a cracked flashing says more than a paragraph. If something couldn’t be seen safely, the report is clear about it.

The survey, step by step
Photographs are taken throughout the visit, so you can see in the report what we found and where. We take close-ups from wherever is safe, including by drone where it is applicable and the weather allows. A typical visit takes about one to two hours for most homes, and longer where there are parapet, valley or box gutters to follow. Somewhere like Crow needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. On the day, we inspect what can safely be seen, inside and out.
- We start with what you’ve noticed, such as damp or overflowing gutters.
- The eaves gutters, downpipes and fascias are checked from ground level and windows.
- We look at hidden gutters as far as safe access allows.
- Where it’s safe, we check the loft for signs of water.
- You receive a report with photos and recommendations.
Before we arrive
- Let us know where we can park nearby
- Clear the way to the loft hatch
- Keep pets inside or away from the areas we’re looking at

Crow: your questions answered
Will you come out to Crow?
Yes, we do. We cover the whole of London and South East England, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it is useful to know about access.
Is my home in Crow listed or in a conservation area?
We cannot confirm that for you, but Historic England’s list and your council can. Both listing and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.
Does this replace a RICS home survey?
No. We look at the roof, not the whole building, and it isn’t a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey. It can sit alongside a RICS survey if you want both.
How long have you been surveying roofs?
We have more than 20 years’ experience and have carried out more than 5,000 surveys.
What will the report tell me?
It explains what we saw, what it means and what we’d suggest, with photographs throughout. It also says if any part of the roof couldn’t be seen safely.
Are you structural engineers?
No. We are experienced roof surveyors, and visible signs such as sagging are noted, but we don’t provide calculations or an engineer’s opinion. The report will say if you need an engineer.
Does the report include photographs?
Yes. The report includes photos of what we found, so you can see exactly what each finding refers to.
Why act early in Crow
When a valley or parapet gutter blocks, the water has nowhere safe to go. It can overflow into the building typically during the worst downpours. It is worth having these gutters looked at before the wetter months. In a place like Crow, a barn or garage roof left to fail puts whatever is inside at risk. A quick look before winter can save a lot.
Thermal imaging and drone inspection (where it applies) come with the Premium Survey, which starts from £400, inc. VAT. We’ll tell you which package suits the questions you have.
Why us?
- Thermal imaging and drone inspection where they help
- Every finding written up with photos
- An independent look at the roof
- 5,000+ roofs surveyed

Landlord and commercial surveys in Crow
Roof problems in a rented home affect tenants as well as the building. A survey helps you spot issues early and plan the work around your tenants.
Shared roofs need a little more planning: we need access agreed with the building owner or managing agent. Mention it when you contact us and we will plan the visit with that in mind.
Can I check my roof myself?
After strong wind, take a look from the pavement or garden: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.
What you can’t do safely is get up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way. That is where a survey comes in, using safe viewpoints and a drone where it applies.
Gutter surveys around Crow
A number of Hampshire villages keep thatched roofs on their older buildings. Across the South East, older homes tend to have slate or clay tiles, and many later ones concrete tiles. Whichever you have, the details that tend to fail before the covering itself get the closest look. With Avon Tyrrell House about 2.4 miles south-east, Crow sits in an area with a long building history. If your home is one of the older ones, expect a mix of original materials and later repairs on the roof, and any change of roofing material on a listed home needs checking with the council first.
Anyone responsible for a site like Ringwood Junior School will know that a written record of a large roof helps plan work for the holidays rather than in term time.

What we can’t see
A survey is a careful look at the gutter, but it can’t do everything. The main limits are:
- Underground drains, which need a CCTV drain survey
- Gutters out of sight from every safe viewpoint
- What’s behind fascias and inside walls
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will tell you. What a survey covers and doesn’t.
What we look at

- Parapet and box gutters
