Why act early in Eastrop
Phone photos from the garden can’t show much. We get as close a view as safe access allows, including by drone where it is applicable. Arranging work in a smaller place like Eastrop is easier with notice than in an emergency. Knowing early gives you time to get the right people in.
What a survey costs comes down to the roof itself: its size, its height, how many sections it has and how it can be reached and seen safely. Our price is from £150, including VAT.
What you get with us
- Drones and thermal imaging where applicable
- We hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID

About our new roof snagging in Eastrop
Our inspection covers the slates or tiles, ridges, verges, hips and valleys plus flashings and roof ventilation. We check the underlay at the eaves where it is visible, and we look at the gutters too. The report sets out what we found with photos. We also note debris left behind and any damage to other parts of the building. Typical surveys look at poorly finished verges and broken coverings left on a new roof, on new-build homes, ridges and verges and new flat roofs.
In a smaller place like Eastrop, homes are mostly houses and bungalows, from older cottages to more recent builds. In older homes, the slates or tiles can outlast the nails, battens and underlay holding them. Whether you are buying or have just had the roof replaced, that hidden layer is worth knowing about. Older roofs often have bitumen felt under the coverings, as breathable membranes only arrived in the late 1990s.
You receive the findings by email, ready to forward to whoever needs them. Turnaround is within 48 hours for Basic, 24–48 hours for Standard and same day for Premium.

For landlords and managing agents
Roof problems in a rented home affect tenants as well as the building. A survey helps you spot issues early and plan the work with less disruption.
For blocks of flats, a roof survey helps managing agents and residents’ management companies plan ahead. The report sets out what needs attention now and what can wait, which helps when budgeting.
Do you need new roof snagging in Eastrop?
Debris left behind is common after roof work. Offcuts and broken pieces often end up in the gutters and on extension roofs.
Typical things we are asked to look at include:
- Broken coverings left on a new roof
- Underlay not dressed into the gutter
- Gaps at new flashings
- Missing or blocked roof ventilation
For an older house near a landmark like Church of St Mary, the roof’s history matters as much as its looks, and a survey brings the past repairs to light.
Questions to ask before you book
- Whether they hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance
- Their drone registration, if they fly one
- How long the report takes to arrive
- How long they’ve been surveying roofs
How it works
When we arrive, we begin with a quick chat about the roof and anything that’s worrying you. After that, we check everything we can see safely, using the ground, windows, the loft and a drone where applicable. The survey normally takes about one to two hours for most houses, and longer for a large or complex roof. Homes around Eastrop often have gardens on more than one side, which gives us room to step back and see the roof. Mention any side of the property we can’t get to. The loft, where there’s safe access, completes the picture.
- We start with what the roofer did and when they finished.
- We check the coverings, ridges, hips and verges from safe vantage points.
- We look at valleys, flashings, gutters and the underlay at the eaves.
- We check the loft where safe and look for debris or damage.
- Snags are listed in a written report with photos.
Before the survey
- Unlock side gates and any roof access doors
- Keep pets in another room
- Move anything stored under the loft hatch

Can I check my roof myself?
Inside, the loft is a good place to look, with care. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, and look for staining, damp timber or daylight coming through.
You can learn a lot from the ground. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Please don’t climb up for a closer look.
Eastrop questions
Do you carry out roof surveys in Eastrop?
Yes. We work right across London and South East England, and Eastrop is part of that. You can ring 07833 053749 or email us with the address and a few details.
Do you cover smaller places like Eastrop?
Yes, we do. We survey roofs across London and South East England, from towns to the smallest villages. The journey is planned ahead, so it is useful to know about access.
Do you check new-build roofs?
Yes, new-build roofs are checked in the same way as replacement roofs. The report lists snags with photos to raise with the builder.
Will you fly a drone over my roof?
Where it is applicable and safe, yes. We fly a sub-250g drone and we’re a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). Drone inspection is part of the Drone Roof Survey and the Premium Survey, where it applies.
What does a new roof inspection cost?
Our price is from £150, including VAT. The price depends on the size of the roof and the access. For a price, phone 07833 053749 or email us.
Do you test for asbestos?
No. Asbestos surveys and testing are not part of what we do. If we see materials that could contain asbestos, such as cement roof sheets or soffits on buildings from before 2000, we flag them, and recommend a specialist asbestos surveyor checks them before they’re disturbed.
How long does new roof snagging take?
Most house visits take about 1–2 hours with commercial roofs nearer 3–4 hours.
Buying a home or a new roof in Eastrop
The Vyne, about 2.9 miles north, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Eastrop. On older houses around here, roofs often carry the marks of earlier repairs, from replaced slates to new lead, and any change of roofing material on a listed home needs checking with the council first. Some Hampshire villages still have thatched roofs. Older houses in the South East frequently have slate or clay tile roofs, while many later estates have concrete tiles. The covering on a house you are buying, or on a roof just finished, tells us where to look hardest.

Honest limits

- Fixings and underlay hidden under the coverings
- Estimates of what fixes will cost
- Details hidden from sight
