New roof snagging in Nuffield, Oxfordshire
New roof snagging for homes and businesses in Nuffield. More than 5,000 surveys completed across London and South East England.
- Offcuts and broken tiles left behind
- Vents that weren’t fitted or are covered
- Cracked mortar at the ridge or hips
Tips that help
These tips come from what we see on roofs every week:
- Raise snags in writing with your roofer
- Walk round the house to look for knock-on damage
- Look for debris left in gutters from ground level
- Tell your roofer the work will be inspected
The report gives your roofer a clear list to work through. If there’s a dispute, it’s between you and your roofer or builder; we report on what we see.
Watch for leaks, damp or loose pieces in the first months. Early signs are easier to raise while the work is recent.
About our new roof snagging in Nuffield
Roof work frequently leaves debris behind. Offcuts, broken tiles and debris left in gutters or on lower roofs are noted along with any damage to other parts of the property. It is all recorded with photos. Gutters full of offcuts can overflow in the next heavy rain, and cracked lower roofs can leak. It’s easier to raise them while the job is fresh. Typical surveys look at vents that weren’t fitted or are covered and debris left in gutters or valleys, on replacement roofs, flashings and valleys and new-build homes.
Being in a small place like Nuffield makes no difference to the inspection itself: the journey, parking and access are simply agreed ahead of time. Mention any outbuildings, barns or garages with roofs you’d like looked at when you book. Whether you’re buying or checking new work, the same care goes into it. Visits can be booked seven days a week.
How fast the report arrives depends on the package: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day.

Leave it or get it looked at?
It’s easier to get snags sorted while money is still owed. Once the job is paid and the roofer has moved on, getting them back can take longer. Our report lists what to raise. In a small place like Nuffield, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.
The cost of a survey depends on the roof: how big it is, how high it is, the number of separate roofs and how safely it can be seen. Prices start from £150, including VAT.

How the survey changes by roof type
Ridges, hips and verges
Verges are easy to get wrong, so we look at them carefully.
Slate roofs
Cracked slates are sometimes left in place. They’re photographed for the report.
Honest limits
To be straight with you, there are limits to any roof survey:
- Legal advice on your contract
- Details hidden from sight
- Nails and clips under the slates or tiles
If in doubt, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we’ll recommend the right survey before you book. The full list of what we check.

Buying a home or a new roof in Nuffield
With Greys Court about 4.2 miles south-east, Nuffield sits in an area with a long building history. Older homes in the wider area frequently have features worth a closer look, such as lead valleys, tall stacks and roofs that have been patched over the years, and the council can say whether a home is in a conservation area. Cotswold stone slates are found on older buildings in west Oxfordshire, and thatch survives in some of the county’s villages. Older houses in the South East often have slate or clay tile roofs, while many later estates have concrete tiles. For a purchase or a newly finished roof, the materials decide which details matter most.
Take an older house close to Church of the Holy Trinity: a survey will show how the roof has been repaired before, which helps you judge what’s coming.

What a survey costs
All our prices include VAT. The things that change the price are:
- How many separate roofs there are, like extensions, dormers and garages
- Roof area
- The shape of the roof and its details
- The height of the building and how the roof can safely be seen
We offer three survey packages: the Basic Survey from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, with VAT included. The price for your roof depends on its size, access and what you’d like to know.
Getting in touch
What helps most when you contact us:

Nuffield: your questions answered
How do I find out if my home in Nuffield is listed?
For listing, use Historic England’s list; for conservation areas, ask the council. It matters most if you’re planning to re-roof in a different material.
Is Nuffield within the area you cover?
Yes. Nuffield is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We cover the whole of London and South East England. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when booking.
Do you use drones?
Where it is applicable and safe, yes. We fly a sub-250g drone and we’re a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). Drone inspection is part of the Drone Roof Survey and the Premium Survey, where it applies.
Does the weather affect the survey?
Light rain is usually fine; heavy rain and wind are different. High wind or heavy rain can make access unsafe and ground a drone, so we’d move the date with you.
Can you tell me if my roof has asbestos?
No. We don’t carry out asbestos surveys or testing. If we see materials that could contain asbestos, such as cement roof sheets or soffits on buildings from before 2000, we flag them, and recommend a specialist asbestos surveyor checks them before they’re disturbed.
How soon after the work should I book a snagging inspection?
Once the roofer says the job is done, ideally before you pay in full. That leaves time to raise anything we find.
Do you carry out surveys on Saturdays and Sundays?
We carry out surveys on weekdays and at weekends. To arrange a date, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form.
What happens on the day
We photograph the roof as we go, so you can see in the report what we found and where. Close-ups come from the safest viewpoint available, including by drone where it is applicable and the weather allows. Most surveys take about 1–2 hours on an ordinary house, or half a day or so for a commercial building. Somewhere as small as Nuffield, access is frequently the only tricky part. Let us know about outbuildings, past repairs and any leaks you’ve noticed. Weekday and weekend visits are available.
- We start with what the roofer did and when they finished.
- We check the coverings, ridges, hips and verges from safe vantage points.
- We look at valleys, flashings, gutters and the underlay at the eaves.
- We check the loft where safe and look for debris or damage.
- Snags are listed in a report with photographs.
Preparing for the visit
- Point out any leaks or damp patches
- Dig out any old roof reports or invoices
- Check pets are kept safely away
