About our new roof snagging in Winsor
Our report records what we see, with photos and clear descriptions. Any dispute about the work is between you and your roofer or builder. Our report gives you an independent record to refer to. We don’t give repair cost estimates or decide who is at fault, but it does set out clearly what we found. We are often asked to look into untidy or loose verge details and offcuts and broken tiles left behind, across flashings and valleys, loft conversions and dormers and ridges and verges.
For a small place like Winsor, the visit is planned like any other: it just means planning the journey and access beforehand. Mention any outbuildings, barns or garages with roofs you’d like looked at when you book. Buyers and owners of new roofs get the same approach as anywhere. Weekday and weekend visits are both available.
What you get is a clear record of the new roof on the day we saw it. That makes it useful now and a handy reference later, for example when you want to check whether anything has changed.

What we cannot see
Every survey has limits, and it is better to know them up front. Keep these in mind:
- Deciding who is at fault in a disagreement
- How the roof will perform for years to come
- Fixings and underlay hidden under the coverings

What else we do in Winsor
Local roofs and buyers in Winsor
Winsor is within about 4 miles of the coast, and places near the sea get more salt in the air and more wind than inland. Metal fixings and flashings corrode faster in salt air, and loose ridges, slates and tiles are the first to lift in a gale. Some Hampshire villages still have thatched roofs. Slate and clay tile are the usual coverings on older South East houses, with concrete tiles on many later estates. Whether you are buying or checking new roofing work, knowing the materials helps make sense of what the inspection finds.
If you let a flat or house near Ashurst New Forest station, a survey before purchase, or before signing off a new roof, saves surprises once a tenant moves in.

What we do, step by step
We’ll ask a few questions first, such as when any problem began and what work has been done before. Then the inspection itself takes an hour or two at most homes; commercial roofs usually need 3–4 hours. In a hamlet or village like Winsor, a postcode does not always lead to the right gate, so a few directions, or a note of a nearby landmark, help us arrive on time. The visit itself is the same as anywhere else.
- You let us know what work was done and when.
- The new coverings and roof edges are inspected as far as can safely be seen.
- Valleys, flashings, gutters and visible underlay at the eaves are checked.
- We check the loft where safe and look for debris or damage.
- You get a photo report of each snag.
Before we arrive
- If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building
- Point out any leaks or damp patches
- Clear the way to the loft hatch
Book a survey
If you’re buying, it helps to book soon after your offer is accepted, so you have the findings in time to act on them before you exchange. Otherwise, simply phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email whenever suits you.

Different roofs, different checks
Underlay and ventilation
At the eaves, the underlay should run into the gutter so water drains away. We check it where it can be seen.
Flashings
Flashings seal the roof to walls and chimneys. We check how they’re dressed, fixed and pointed.
Winsor: your questions answered
Do you cover smaller places like Winsor?
Yes, we do. We cover the whole of London and South East England, from towns to the smallest villages. The journey is planned ahead, so it is useful to know about access.
Is my home in Winsor listed or in a conservation area?
Your council is the best source, with Historic England’s list for listed buildings. Both listing and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material, and councils can also use Article 4 directions.
Will you check the loft?
If the survey needs it and the loft space can be reached safely, yes. Please clear anything stored under the hatch, and if the loft cannot be reached safely, the report says so.
Will you fly a drone over my roof?
Yes, where applicable and safe. We are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID), flying a sub-250g drone. It’s included in the Drone Roof Survey and, where it applies, the Premium Survey.
Which days do you carry out surveys?
Surveys can be booked for any day of the week: Monday to Friday, Saturdays and Sundays. Tell us which days suit you as you book.
How experienced are you?
We’ve completed more than 5,000 surveys, across 20+ years of surveying roofs.
Are you insured?
We are covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance, for every survey we carry out.
Should I look at the roof myself first?
A lot can be seen from ground level. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Never climb onto the roof to look.
Inside, the loft is a good place to look, with care. Use a torch and stay on the joists or boards, and look for staining, damp timber or daylight coming through.
Landlords, agents and block managers in Winsor
Any of our surveys can be booked by landlords, agents and building managers in Winsor. To discuss a property or a block, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form.
Managing agents and residents’ management companies use roof surveys to plan maintenance. Recommendations are set out in order of urgency where relevant, which helps when budgeting.
What we’re asked to look at in Winsor
Roofers don’t always clear every gutter and lower roof. Broken tiles, offcuts and nails can block gutters and on extension roofs.
A survey makes sense if you’ve noticed:
- Cracked or slipped new tiles or slates
- Cracked mortar at the ridge or hips
- Loose flashings at walls or chimneys
- Debris left in gutters or valleys
For an older house near a landmark like Church of St Mary, older patch repairs can hide behind a tidy front slope, and the survey looks past them.
What to check before booking
- What insurance they carry
- What follow-up you get after the report
- Whether VAT is added on top
- Whether the inside of the roof is included
