Surveys for landlords and agents in Great Haseley
An agent can book and manage the survey for a landlord, and the report can go to both. Access is agreed with the tenant in advance.
If the property is let, the agent or a tenant can let us in. We survey on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays, which can make access easier.
About our pre-purchase roof survey in Great Haseley
A full home survey looks at the whole property, so the roof is one item among many. Our survey is not a RICS survey, and it does not replace one. What it adds is a closer look at the roof alone, with photos and written recommendations you can act on. You can have both. We survey gutters and downpipes, lead flashings and valleys and clay and concrete tiles, and people most often book us about standing water on a flat extension roof and roof slopes that look uneven or sagging.
Being in a small place like Great Haseley makes no difference to the inspection itself: the journey, parking and access are simply agreed beforehand. Mention any outbuildings, barns or garages with roofs you’d like looked at when you book. Whether you are buying or checking new work, the same care goes into it. Visits can be booked on weekdays and at weekends.
The Standard Survey adds moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where it applies, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

Questions from Great Haseley
Is Great Haseley in the area you cover?
Yes, Great Haseley is within the area we cover. Our area covers London and South East England. Just phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email and let us know about the property.
How do I find out if my home in Great Haseley is listed?
Check Historic England’s online list first, then ask the council about conservation areas and any Article 4 direction. The answer matters most when a change of material is on the cards.
Is this an asbestos survey?
No. Asbestos surveys and sampling aren’t something we do. The report may flag materials that could contain asbestos on buildings built or refurbished before 2000.
Does someone need to be in?
That depends on the survey. Inside the building and in the loft, we need someone to let us in; we will agree the details as you book.
What if it rains on the day?
It can, depending on the survey. Drones can’t fly safely in strong wind or a downpour, and thermal imaging works best after a sunny day, with a dry roof and little wind. If the conditions aren’t right, we will talk to you about another date.
Is this the same as a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey?
No. It is a roof survey by an experienced roof surveyor, with a written report and photos. It doesn’t cover the rest of the property, which a RICS survey does.
Is a roof survey worth having alongside a home survey?
It depends on the roof and how confident you want to be. Home surveys sometimes suggest a closer look at the roof, and that is where a roof survey helps. It does not stand in for a RICS survey.
What we look for on each type of roof
Chimney stacks
A stack stands exposed above the roof line. The pots, flaunching, pointing and flashings are all checked, as far as we can see them safely.
Clay and concrete tiles
Tiled roofs frequently last half a century or longer. Cracked, slipped or missing tiles are noted, along with odd replacement tiles that hint at earlier leaks.
What we can’t see
No survey can tell you everything, and we’d rather be clear about that before you book. Keep these in mind:
- Asbestos testing of any kind
- Defects hidden under coverings or inside walls without opening up
- Whether the price should change, which is between you and the seller
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will tell you. The full list of what we check.
What this survey covers
- Chimney stacks
- The roof space
- Natural slate
- Flat-roofed extensions and dormers
- Clay and concrete tiles
- Gutters and downpipes
- Lead flashings and valleys
Can I check my roof myself?
The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way, and a fall can be serious. That part is for a survey, using safe viewpoints and a drone where applicable.
A lot can be seen from ground level. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Please don’t climb up for a closer look.
How the survey works
Before we start, let us know why you’ve booked: a purchase, a leak, a storm, new work or simply peace of mind. That way we can focus on what matters to you. The visit normally takes between one and two hours at the house you’re buying, depending on its size and how much of the roof can be seen. In a small place like Great Haseley, access is typically the main thing to plan. Let us know about outbuildings, past repairs and any leaks you’ve noticed. Weekday and weekend visits are available.
- You book once your offer is accepted and let us know the address and your timetable.
- We agree a time and how we’ll get in, including the loft.
- We inspect the roof from ground level, windows, the loft and the roof itself where it’s safe.
- Each part of the roof is examined and photographed.
- You receive a written report with photos and recommendations to read before exchange.
Preparing for the visit
- If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building
- Have any questions written down, so nothing gets missed
- Dig out any old roof reports or invoices

Pre-purchase roof surveys in Great Haseley: local notes
West Oxfordshire’s older buildings often carry Cotswold stone slates, and a few villages in the county keep their thatch. Across the South East, older homes tend to have slate or clay tiles, and many later ones concrete tiles. For a purchase or a newly finished roof, the materials decide which details matter most. Where the drone is part of the survey, we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before flying.
Take an older house close to Church of St Peter: the roof may have had decades of patch repairs, and the survey shows where they are. Garsington Manor, about 3.5 miles west, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Great Haseley. When you buy an older home, the roof’s age, past repairs and any listing all affect what you might spend later.
