- The repair itself (the investigation finds and reports the cause)
- Water from pipes, tanks or heating systems
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we’ll tell you. What a survey covers and doesn’t.

- Lead flashings
- Valleys and parapet gutters
- Slate and tile slopes
- Rooflights and dormers
Roof leak investigations for homes and businesses in Touchen-end
A leak that comes and goes can be the hardest to pin down. Wind-driven rain, an overflowing gutter or snow melt may be what triggers it. Telling us when it happens helps a lot and so do photos. We look for the clues it leaves behind, such as tide marks, stained timbers and damp underlay. Moisture detection shows which materials are still damp. If you’re worried about damp underlay across a wide area and wet patches high on an inside wall, we can find out what’s behind it, whatever the roof.
Roofs in small places like Touchen-end often stand in the open, so storms hit ridges, verges and chimneys hard. Damp in old stone, brick or timber walls is slow to dry out, so it pays to find the cause quickly. A record with photographs is useful if you need to show the damage to anyone else.
The report records the leaking roof as we found it on the day. It’s useful right away, and a good reference for later, for instance when you want to check whether anything has changed.

How the survey changes by roof type
Parapet and box gutters
We check the linings, joints and outlets where we can see them safely, and look for signs of past overflowing.
Valleys
Leaves and moss build up in valleys and hold water back. In heavy rain, it can spill under the edges of the slates or tiles.
Before and after the survey
These tips come from what we see on roofs every week:
- Stay off ladders and the roof
- Take dated photos of the leak
- Mention any plumbing above the damp area
- Don’t touch fittings that water is reaching
Once the work is done, hold on to the report. If the leak returns, it’s a useful record of what was found, which makes the next step quicker.
Do not block the vents at the eaves. Air movement keeps condensation down, which is often mistaken for a leak. Check insulation doesn’t block airflow at the eaves.
What a survey costs
Prices always include VAT. The things that change the price are:
- How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
- Whether thermal imaging or a drone is needed
- Extra roofs, like extensions, dormers or garages
- House, block, shop or office
Prices start from £150, including VAT. Packages run from Basic at £150 through Standard at £250 to Premium at £400, with VAT included.
Helping us price your survey
Some details help us recommend the right survey and price. When you contact us, tell us:
- Why you want a survey: buying, a leak, a storm or new work
- The kind of building and roof involved
- The property’s address and postcode
- Your timetable, such as an exchange date
Every survey is priced before it is booked, so you know the cost up front. Prices start from £150, including VAT. To book, call 07833 053749 or send us an email.
How it works
Expect us to ask a few questions before we start, about the roof’s history, any leaks and past repairs. Then the inspection itself takes roughly 1–2 hours for most homes, though a hard-to-trace leak can take longer. Somewhere like Touchen-end needs a little journey planning: let us know about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. The roof is looked at from ground level, from windows, from the loft where there’s safe access and from the roof where it is safe.
- We help you choose the package that suits the leak.
- We agree a date, including weekends.
- We inspect inside and out, starting from the stain.
- Where it is useful and included, we take moisture readings and use thermal imaging.
- You get photos, the likely cause and clear recommendations.
Getting ready for the survey
- Have any questions written down, so nothing gets missed
- For flats, make sure roof access has been agreed
- Move anything stored under the loft hatch
Getting a price
A quick phone call is normally the easiest start: call 07833 053749 or email us, and we’ll ask about the building and what you need. The price is agreed before a date is set.

Questions from Touchen-end
Do you cover smaller places like Touchen-end?
Yes. Touchen-end is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our area covers London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route as you book.
How do I find out if my home in Touchen-end is listed?
Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the local council can tell you about conservation areas. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.
Why isn’t the leak directly above the stain?
Rain that gets in will run along whatever it lands on. On a flat roof it can travel under the covering before it shows. Following that route is what our investigation does.
Do you carry professional indemnity insurance?
We are covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance, for every survey we carry out.
Can you inspect my roof with a drone?
Yes, where applicable and safe. We are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID), flying a sub-250g drone. It’s included in the Drone Roof Survey and, where applicable, the Premium Survey.
What will the report tell me?
A report with photographs, covering the condition of the leaking roof, the defects we found and what we recommend, in order of urgency where relevant. Standard adds moisture detection and a structural check; Premium adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where it applies and structural analysis.
How much is a survey?
Roof leak investigation starts from £150, including VAT. What you pay for your roof depends on its size, height, access and the package, confirmed before anything is booked.
Leaks and storm damage in Touchen-end
In this part of the South East, older roofs are mostly slate or clay tile and many newer ones concrete tile. Where water gets in depends a good deal on what the roof is made of and how it is detailed. About 2.9 miles north-east lies Dorney Court, a reminder of how long the area around Touchen-end has been built on. On older houses around here, roofs often carry the marks of earlier repairs, from replaced slates to new lead, and any change of roofing material on a listed home needs checking with the council first.
If you live near a park like Ockwells Park, or anywhere with mature trees, autumn leaves can block gutters and valleys, and an overflowing gutter soon means a wet wall. If you look after a building like Holyport College, on a building that size, finding the source of a drip means looking well beyond the stain. Landlords with a home close to Maidenhead station may find that a tenant living with a leak needs the cause found, not just the stain painted over.

Can I check my roof myself?
It helps to keep a record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Share it with us as you book, as it helps us focus the survey.
Watch the gutters in a downpour, from a window or the ground. Water spilling over the edge can be a sign of a blockage or a gutter that has dropped.
