Roof surveys for homes and businesses in Brasted
We survey roofs in Brasted and across London and South East England. Visits run on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. We’re insured for professional indemnity and public liability. Each survey ends with a written report, emailed with photos and recommendations. Houses, flats and commercial buildings all follow the same careful process. When you are ready to book, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email. Typical surveys look at ponding, splits or blisters on flat roofs and cracked mortar along the ridge, across natural slate, the roof space and lead flashings.
Much of London’s housing is flats, in converted houses or purpose-built blocks, where the roof is typically a shared part of the building. Whoever looks after the building needs a clear picture of the roof, chimneys and gutters. A defect on a shared roof can reach more than one flat. A report gives everyone the same picture to plan from, with photos.
After the visit, you get a report with photographs, sent by email. It sets out the condition of the roof, any defects and our written recommendations.

The survey, step by step
We will ask a few questions first, about the roof’s history, any leaks and past repairs. The inspection then takes roughly 1–2 hours for most homes, depending on how many separate roofs there are. In Brasted, visits are available on weekdays and at weekends. It helps if you can point us to a visitor permit or a nearby bay, and to clear a path to the loft hatch. Upstairs rooms at the back are useful too, as they frequently give the best view of a rear addition.
- You tell us about the property and any concerns.
- We arrange a day that suits you, including weekends.
- We look at the roof from every safe vantage point, inside and out.
- We check the coverings, ridges, hips, valleys, flashings, chimneys and gutters, and photograph what we find.
- Your report arrives by email, with recommendations prioritised by urgency.
Before we arrive
- If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building
- Tell us about any leaks, stains or damp patches you know of
- Leave a clear route to the loft

What a roof survey looks like in Brasted
In outer London, interwar semis with hipped, tiled roofs sit alongside older slate-roofed terraces. If your home in Brasted is one of them, bay roofs, hips and later dormers each have their own details. Whichever you have, the details that tend to fail before the covering itself get the closest look. The wider area around Brasted has a long history of building, with Quebec House about 1.5 miles south-west. Older roofs in the wider area can hide decades of patch repairs, so the detail matters, and any change of roofing material on a listed home needs checking with the council first.
Take a building like Combe Bank School: long gutter runs and wide roofs on a building that size are worth checking on a regular cycle. If you let a flat or house near Dunton Green station, the gap between tenancies is a good time to have the roof looked at.
Brasted is about 3 miles west of Sevenoaks, in Greater London. Whether the building in Brasted is a house, a flat or a commercial unit, we can survey the roof. Our area takes in places right across Greater London, from the larger towns to small villages. We also survey roofs in Crawley.

Why get it checked now?
Valley gutters and parapet gutters are out of sight until they overflow. An overflow there sends water indoors. A survey checks them while they’re still dry. A hidden valley or parapet gutter on a London house can hold water for weeks before anyone notices. When the stain finally shows, the damage underneath is often older than it looks.
All our prices include VAT. Roof survey starts from £150, including VAT. You will know the price for the job before you book.

How the survey changes by roof type
Chimney stacks
Water that gets into a stack can show as damp in the rooms below. We check the flashings and mortar for the cause.
Natural slate
Slate is common on older homes in London and the South East. Widespread slipping usually points to corroded nails, and we say how widespread it looks.

What we are asked to look at in Brasted
Slates and tiles frequently outlast the fixings that hold them. On slate roofs, corroded nails let slates slip, which is known as ‘nail fatigue’. On tiled roofs, the battens or pegs may be what’s gone.
It’s worth booking a survey if you’ve seen:
- Ridge tiles that have lifted or moved
- Slipped, cracked or missing slates and tiles
- Flashings that have come away from the wall
- Ponding, splits or blisters on flat roofs
For a London address like Brasted, it’s useful to know about controlled parking before the day, along with any off-street space.

For landlords and managing agents
Buyers’ agents can book surveys on behalf of their clients. Reports are emailed, so they’re easy to pass on, photos included.
We survey roofs for letting agents and landlords as well as householders. The report gives you a dated record of the roof, with photos, which helps you plan work between tenancies.
Common questions in Brasted
Can a landlord with a rental near Dunton Green station book a roof survey?
Yes. We survey roofs for landlords, letting agents and managing agents as well as owners. Just ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form with the details.
Will parking be an issue for a roof survey in Brasted?
London parking needs a little planning, so let us know about permits, bays or a driveway when you book. That way the visit can be planned around it.
How long will you be at the property?
On site, it typically takes an hour or two at a typical home, and longer for a large or complex roof. Report times depend on the package.
Do you look in the roof space?
If there is a loft and safe access to it, yes. From inside, the underside of the roof often shows damp, staining or daylight that cannot be seen from outside.
Is Brasted in your area?
Yes. We survey roofs in Brasted and the rest of Greater London, as part of our work across London and the South East. To book, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email.
Will the report say how many years my roof has left?
We don’t give a number of years. We describe the condition of each part of the roof and how it is wearing, with recommendations ranked by urgency.
What’s the best way to book?
To book, phone 07833 053749 or email us and tell us the address and what you want to find out. We’ll confirm the price and find a day that suits.

Every survey has limits, and it is better to know them up front. Bear these in mind:
