Roof survey in Frindsbury: what you get
Roof coverings last a long time, but not for ever. Natural slate can last 100 years or more, and clay and concrete tiles commonly 50 years or more, but the fixings and underlay beneath them often give out sooner. A survey shows which parts of your roof are wearing. That lets you plan work in good time rather than after a leak. If you are worried about lifted, split or missing lead flashings and condensation or damp timbers in the loft, we can find out what’s behind it, whatever the roof.
Around Frindsbury, gardens, hedges and nearby trees can mean leaves and moss end up on roofs and in gutters. Blocked gutters overflow and soak the walls below, and moss holds water against tiles. A report spots that kind of slow problem before it becomes damp inside. Plants growing from a gutter or moss on the tiles are signs worth noting from the ground.
With the Standard Survey, you also get moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

Local roofs in Frindsbury
Frindsbury is within about 3 miles of the coast, where wind off the sea can be strong. A small drone cannot fly safely in high wind or heavy rain, so the weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead. If your survey includes the drone, the flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first.
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as English Martyrs' Catholic Primary School, its roofs, gutters and any chimneys need the same checks as a house’s, just on a bigger scale. Restoration House lies about 0.9 miles south, so building around Frindsbury goes back a long way. Older roofs nearby frequently mix original materials with later repairs, and the survey shows where each one is.
Frindsbury is about 1 mile north-east of Rochester, in Medway. If you’re in Frindsbury, booking works exactly as it does anywhere else: a call or an email, a price, then a date. Our area takes in places right across Medway, large and small. Our Maidstone page covers surveys nearby.
We work across the ME2 and ME1 postcode area for roof surveys. You’ll find streets such as Mill Road, Grove Road and Bowes Road. You will find Frindsbury on the A289, so it is easy for us to get to. How the survey works
We work from the outside in: first the slopes, edges and gutters from every safe viewpoint, then the loft space where it can be reached. All told, expect roughly 1–2 hours for an ordinary house roof, and longer if there are extensions, dormers or several chimneys. Being in a smaller place like Frindsbury does not change how the visit works: outside, inside and from any safe vantage point, in that order. Point out any stains, cracks or loose pieces you’ve spotted.

Advice
Checking the roof from ground level
After strong wind, take a look from the pavement or garden: broken slates or tiles in the garden, gaps along the ridge or loose lead are signs to note. Do not go up yourself.
Watch the gutters in a downpour, from a window or the ground. Overflowing water can be a sign of a blockage or a gutter that has dropped.
Honest limits
In fairness, there are limits to any roof survey:
- Asbestos testing of any kind
- A full building survey of the property
- How the roof will behave in every kind of weather
If you’re not sure which survey you need, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we’ll give you a straight answer. The full list of what we check.

- Ridges, hips and valleys
- Flat roofs
- Clay and concrete tiles
- Lead flashings
- The roof space
- Natural slate
Before and after the survey
Most of what helps is simple and safe from ground level. A few suggestions:
- Let us know about any leaks or stains you’ve seen
- Take photos of any leaks as they happen
- Make sure we can open the loft hatch
- Mention any flat roofs as well as the main roof
If you need work done, the report gives roofers a clear brief. They’ll see each defect and its location, which makes quotes easier to compare.
Every so often, look in the roof space with a torch, keeping to boarded areas. Watch for stains, damp timbers and daylight through the roof. Take photos of anything that changes.
What we look for on each type of roof
Clay plain and peg tiles
Handmade and machine-made clay tiles are long-lasting. We check for cracked, slipped and missing tiles.
Natural slate
From the loft, we check the underside of a slate roof. There may be old felt underlay, or none at all on very old roofs.
Your questions about roof surveys in Frindsbury
Do you survey roofs for landlords with property near Strood station?
Of course. Let us know whether a tenant or an agent will let us in, and the report can go straight to you or your agent.
Is Frindsbury within the area you cover?
We do. Villages and rural addresses get the same survey as a town house, with the route planned beforehand.
How do I arrange a roof survey in Frindsbury?
It’s easiest to ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form. Give us the address and some details about the roof, and we’ll take it from there. We survey on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
How experienced are you?
More than 5,000 surveys over 20+ years, across London and South East England.
How long does a roof survey take?
On site, it normally takes roughly 1–2 hours for most houses, with bigger or more complicated roofs taking longer. Report times depend on the package.
Can you survey a roof I share with a neighbour?
Yes. We survey the parts of the roof you have access to. Where a defect looks to be on the neighbour’s side, the report says so.
Will you fly a drone over my roof?
Where it is applicable and safe, yes. We fly a sub-250g drone and we’re a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). Drone inspection is part of the Drone Roof Survey and the Premium Survey, where it applies.
Common roof problems in Frindsbury
A blocked gutter does more harm than it looks. Once leaves and moss block a gutter, water spills down the brickwork. Hidden gutters behind parapets and in valleys can send water indoors, particularly near trees.
Here are some of the things we see often:
- Leaning or weathered chimney stacks
- Worn or blocked valleys
- Slates or tiles that have slipped or broken
- Flashings that have come away from the wall
Homes near green spaces like Broomhill Park can get more leaves in their gutters in autumn, so outlets and downpipes are worth watching.
Choosing a roof surveyor
- How they’ll see the roof: from ground level, the loft, the roof or by drone
- Is VAT included in the price?
- What experience they bring
- What happens after the report arrives
