Roof survey in Wolverton
Many homes have several roofs, not just one. Flat roofs over extensions, garages and dormers are common. They’re included alongside the main roof, looking for ponding, splits, blisters and worn upstands. A flat roof typically wears out sooner than a pitched one, so they deserve a careful look. A felt roof frequently lasts around 15 to 20 years, and GRP up to about 30. We are often asked to look into ponding, splits or blisters on flat roofs and lifted, split or missing lead flashings, across lead flashings, ridges, hips and valleys and clay and concrete tiles.
Village roofs often face open fields and take the full force of wind and rain, which is hard on ridges, chimneys, flashings and gutters. Damp in old walls is slow to dry, so a small leak can do a lot of harm. A written report sets out what to deal with and in what order. On exposed older roofs, chimneys and lead flashings are often the first to give way.
Report times depend on the survey you book: the Basic Survey within 48 hours, the Standard Survey in 24 to 48 hours and the Premium Survey on the same day.

Questions from Wolverton
Do you survey roofs for landlords with property near Kearsney station?
Yes, that is a common request. We just need to know who will give access, and the report can go straight to you or your agent.
Is Wolverton within the area you cover?
We do. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one, with the route planned beforehand.
Is it the same as a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey?
No. It’s a specialist roof survey, not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 building survey. It focuses on the roof and can sit alongside a RICS survey.
Can you survey a shared roof?
Yes. A shared roof needs access agreed first. Mention it when you get in touch and we’ll explain what’s needed.
How experienced are you?
We have more than 20 years’ experience and have carried out more than 5,000 surveys across London and the South East.
Do you need to get into the loft?
If the survey needs it and the loft space can be reached safely, yes. Please clear anything stored under the hatch.
How long does the visit take?
It typically takes roughly 1–2 hours for an ordinary house roof, and longer if there are extensions, dormers or several chimneys. Report times depend on the package.
Local roofs in Wolverton
Wolverton is within about 3 miles of the coast, and wind near the sea can be strong. The weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead, as a small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or a downpour. Many older homes in Kent have handmade clay tiles, including Kent peg tiles held by pegs through two holes, and tile-hanging on their upper walls. Oast houses and timber-framed Wealden hall houses are part of the county’s older buildings too. On roofs like these, good slates or tiles can outlast the nails, battens, lead and mortar around them.
For landlords with property near Kearsney station, a roof report helps you deal with small faults before they turn into a call from a tenant. If you live near a park such as Sladden Wood, or anywhere with mature trees, autumn leaves can block gutters and valleys, and blocked gutters overflow and soak walls.

When you need someone else
Without opening up the roof, some things stay hidden, and that sets some limits:
- The condition of the rest of the building (that’s a RICS home survey)
- An exact number of years the roof has left
- Defects hidden under coverings or inside walls without opening up
If in doubt, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we’ll suggest the right survey. What our survey covers.

The survey, step by step
Where it’s relevant and can be reached safely, the loft space is checked as well as the outside. Inside, we look for staining, damp, gaps and signs of movement, as far as the space allows. All in, the survey usually takes about 1–2 hours for most houses, and about three to four hours for a commercial roof. Older rural homes like those around Wolverton can have a main roof, lower lean-to roofs and outbuildings all joined together. Each part is looked at from wherever it can safely be seen, and anything we cannot see is noted.
- You let us know the address, the type of roof and what’s worrying you.
- We agree a date, including weekends if that suits you.
- Outside, we inspect from the ground, windows and other safe vantage points, and from the roof where safe.
- Inside, we check the loft space where there is safe access.
- We email a written report with photos and recommendations.

Tips that help
These tips come from what we see on roofs every week:
- Include dormers, porches and garages when you book
- Stay off ladders and the roof
- Have details of recent roof work to hand
- Watch for slipped slates after bad weather
With the Standard Survey you get a follow-up consultation, and the Premium Survey includes an in-person consultation. You can ask us about anything that isn’t clear.
Do not block the vents at the eaves. A stuffy loft collects condensation, and it can wet timbers and insulation. Make sure insulation does not block the airflow at the eaves.

What else we do in Wolverton
Why it’s worth a survey now in Wolverton
Before you put a home on the market, it helps to know the roof’s condition. You’ll know what a buyer’s survey might pick up, or at least know what to expect. Older and listed buildings around Wolverton may need consent and matching materials for repairs, so leaving a defect until it is urgent leaves less time to plan.
What a survey costs comes down to the roof itself: its size, its height, how many sections it has and how it can be reached and seen safely. Our price is from £150, including VAT.
What you get with us
- 5,000+ surveys completed
- Customer satisfaction of 98%
- Drone flown under a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID
- An independent view of the roof
How we price roof surveys
All our prices include VAT. The things that change the price are:
- The number of roofs, including extensions and garages
- If the survey needs thermal imaging or a drone
- The height of the building and how the roof can be seen safely
- Whether it is a home or a commercial building
The Premium Survey includes thermal imaging and drone inspection where it applies, from £400 with VAT included. We’ll tell you which package suits the questions you have.
What we need to know
Here’s what helps us most when you get in touch:
- The style of property, from a terrace to a block
- Any stains, drips or damp patches you’ve seen indoors
- Your timetable, such as an exchange date
- Why you want a survey: buying, a leak, a storm or new work
To book a survey, phone 07833 053749 or email us with the address and what you’d like to know about the roof. We’ll confirm the price before booking.
When to book a survey in Wolverton
Slates and tiles often outlast the fixings that hold them. On slate roofs, corroded nails let slates slip, which is known as ‘nail fatigue’. On tiled roofs, the battens or pegs may be what’s gone, letting tiles move.
Look out for signs like these:
- Standing water on a flat roof
- Worn lead at chimneys and abutments
- Valley linings that have cracked or split
- Cracked mortar along the ridge
Acrise Place lies about 4.6 miles west, so building around Wolverton goes back a long way. If your home is one of the older ones, the roof may have been repaired many times, and the survey records how each part is holding up.
What to check before booking
