Storm damage roof report in Ash, Kent
We carry out storm damage roof reports in Ash and the rest of Kent. We survey seven days a week.
- Holes or cracks caused by debris
- Damaged pots on the stack
- Damaged gutters and fascias
How a storm damage roof report works in Ash
After a storm, safety comes first. Photograph the damage from ground level or a window, and never climb up. If water is coming in, a roofer can put temporary protection in place. We then record the damage in a report you can pass to your insurer. Keep receipts for any emergency work. We survey ridges and hips, gutters and fascias and slate and tile slopes, and common reasons people get in touch are gutters pulled loose in the wind and roofs hit by falling trees.
In a smaller place like Ash, some roofs face open ground, so wind and driving rain find any weakness in ridges, verges and flashings. A leak that only appears in certain weather often points to an exposed detail. It helps to know when and where the water appears. The gutters on the most exposed side can overflow too.
Report times depend on the survey you book: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day.

Before and after the survey
A few practical points come up again and again on our surveys. They’re worth knowing whatever the roof:
- Don’t go onto the roof to take pictures
- Tell your insurer about the damage promptly
- Keep fallen slates or tiles as evidence if safe
- Take photos of stains and damp inside
You’ll need a roofer’s quote for the repairs. They can use our report to see what needs doing.
Keep the roof in good order between storms. Have loose slates, tiles and flashings seen to promptly.
What happens on the day
Once we’ve finished looking, we write up our findings in a report with photos, emailed to you. As for time on site, it usually takes an hour or two for most homes, depending on how much of the roof was hit. With a bit of garden around a house, as there often is around Ash, the roof can be viewed from several angles. Mention any side of the property we cannot get to. Inside, the loft is looked at where it can be reached safely.
- You let us know when the storm was and what damage you’ve seen.
- We view the roof from wherever it can safely be seen, including the loft where there is access.
- Each area of damage is photographed and described.
- We note the likely cause, including any signs of wear that were there before the storm.
- The findings are written up with photos for you to share with your insurer.
Before the survey
- Move anything stored under the loft hatch
- Mention any parking restrictions on your street
- Show us where any leaks or stains appear

Questions from Ash
Does being near the coast affect roofs in Ash?
Near the coast, roofs face more wind and more salt than further inland. Salt corrodes metal fixings and flashings, and wind lifts loose slates, tiles and ridge pieces.
Do you cover smaller places like Ash?
Yes, Ash is on our map. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one.
How do I book a survey in Ash?
Simply ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form with the address. We will ask a few questions, confirm the price and agree a date.
Should I go up on the roof to take photos?
Stay off the roof. Photograph the damage from below or from a window. Note the date and time, and photograph any damage inside.
Will my insurer pay out if I get a storm damage report?
Only your insurer can decide that. We record the damage, with photographs and the likely cause, which you can pass to your insurer.
Do I have to be there for the survey?
If the survey includes the loft or the inside of the building, someone needs to let us in. Access is agreed with you as you book.
How are storm damage reports priced?
Our reports start from £150. Commercial and larger roofs are quoted on size. The report doesn’t include repair costs.
For landlords and managing agents
For a freeholder or residents’ company, a roof report is a sound basis for a maintenance plan.
Roof problems in a rented home affect tenants as well as the building. A survey helps you spot issues early and plan the work with less disruption.

What a storm damage roof report looks like in Ash
Ash is within about 5 miles of the coast. Insurers decide claims on their own policy wording, and many treat gusts of about 55 mph as storm conditions, though it varies. With Goodnestone Park about 3.3 miles south-west, Ash sits in an area with a long building history. Older homes in the wider area often have features worth a closer look, like lead valleys, tall stacks and roofs that have been patched over the years, and any change of roofing material on a listed home needs checking with the council first.
For site and facilities teams at buildings like Ash Cartwright and Kelsey Church of England Primary School, water through a big roof can travel a long way before it drips, so the search covers more than the obvious spot. If your house is among the older ones in the streets near Church of St Nicholas, water on an older roof tends to find its way in at the lead, the valleys or the chimney. Landlords with a home close to Sandwich station may find that tracing a leak quickly matters when a tenant is living with it.
Ash is about 7 miles north-west of Deal, in Kent. Roofs in Ash get the same thorough look as anywhere else in Kent. Our area takes in places right across Kent, from the larger towns to small villages. Our Canterbury page covers surveys nearby.
