Thermal imaging roof survey in East Worldham, Hampshire
We carry out thermal roof surveys in East Worldham and the rest of Hampshire. Surveys run on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
- Wet areas near outlets and upstands
- Areas of a flat roof that may hold water
- Cold spots on ceilings under the roof
What we look for on each type of roof
Pitched slate and tile roofs
Even on pitched roofs, the camera can point to heat loss and some damp. We explain what can and cannot be read from them.
GRP fibreglass roofs
Glossy GRP can reflect heat. We allow for reflections and confirm findings with moisture readings.
How a thermal roof survey works in East Worldham
A thermal survey isn’t a quick fix for every roof problem. Sun, shade, reflective surfaces and wind can all change what the camera shows. We back up the images with moisture readings and a careful look at the roof. The report is clear about what the images show and what they do not. Where something cannot be confirmed, we say what would help next. If you’ve noticed gaps in loft insulation and moisture around outlets and upstands, we can find out what’s behind it.
Older buildings in small places like East Worldham may be listed or in a conservation area. Neither a drone survey nor a thermal survey involves any work on the roof, so it’s a gentle way to see the condition of an old roof. Changes that affect a listed building’s special interest need listed building consent, so check with the council first.
The report records the roof as we found it on the day. It’s useful straight away, and a good reference for later.

What a survey costs
A few things affect what a survey costs:
- Features like valleys, chimneys, dormers and parapets
- Height and safe access
- The roof’s overall size
- Whether you choose the Basic, Standard or Premium Survey
There are three survey packages: the Basic Survey from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, all inc. VAT. The price for your roof depends on its size, access and what you want to find out.
What to tell us when you contact us
To price your survey accurately, we will ask about:
- Your timetable, like an exchange date
- What made you get in touch
- What kind of property and roof it is
- Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
To book a survey, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email and let us know the address and what’s prompted the survey. We will confirm the price before booking.
Should I look at the roof myself first?
A lot can be seen from ground level. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Never climb onto the roof to look.
Look up at the roof after a storm, from ground level: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.
Tips that help
There’s plenty you can do without going near the roof. Here’s what helps most:
- Check outlets after heavy rain
- Keep dated photos of any marks on ceilings
- Don’t switch the heating off ahead of the visit
- Talk to us about the weather when booking
You can pass the report to a roofer so they can see where the problem areas seem to be. Each thermal image is matched to a normal photo, so the areas are easy to locate.
Watch for new damp patches on ceilings beneath the roof. Early action keeps insulation from staying wet.

East Worldham: your questions answered
Do you cover East Worldham?
Yes. Our area covers London and South East England, and East Worldham is part of that. Just call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and tell us about the property, and we’ll talk through which survey suits.
Do you cover smaller places like East Worldham?
Yes, we do. We work right across London and South East England, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it’s useful to know about access.
Will the camera show exactly where the water is?
No, not on its own. It shows surface temperature, and wet areas can show up because they hold heat differently. We confirm what it suggests with moisture readings.
Will you fly a drone over my roof?
Yes, where it is applicable. Whether we can fly on the day depends on the weather and the airspace rules. We hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID.
I live in a flat. Can you survey the roof?
Yes, once access has been agreed. The roof of a block or converted house is often shared, so we need permission from the building owner or managing agent. We inspect only the parts we are allowed to reach.
Is thermal imaging included in your surveys?
It comes with our Premium Survey, which starts from £400. The Premium Survey also covers a full inspection, drone inspection where applicable, structural analysis and a report on the same day.
Do you test for asbestos?
No. We don’t sample or test for asbestos. Where a material might contain it, such as old cement sheets on a building from before 2000, the report flags it.
What we cannot see
Before booking, it is worth knowing what a survey won’t do:
- A formal energy assessment
- Readings unaffected by sun, shade or reflections
- Whether the deck or roof structure is strong enough
If in doubt, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we will suggest the right survey before booking. What our survey covers.
What we look at
- Commercial roofs
- Loft conversions
- Ceilings below the roof
- Flat roofs
- Insulated roof spaces
- Pitched roof slopes
Airspace, weather and East Worldham roofs
Older buildings may be listed or sit in a conservation area. Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the council can say whether a street is in a conservation area. Re-roofing in different materials may need permission there. Thatch survives on some older buildings in Hampshire’s villages. In this part of the South East, older roofs are mostly slate or clay tile and many newer ones concrete tile. Many roofs like these cannot be judged properly from the pavement, and that’s where a view from above or a thermal image earns its place.
Anyone responsible for a site like Eggar's School will know that a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it. Take an older house close to Church of St Mary: older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where close-up aerial shots and thermal images help.

How it works
We photograph the roof as we go, so you can see in the report what we found and where. Close-ups come from the safest viewpoint available, including by drone where it is applicable and the weather allows. A typical visit takes about 1–2 hours for a house, with bigger or more complicated roofs taking longer. Around East Worldham, older homes can have small or awkward roof spaces, so it helps to know whether there is a loft hatch and how easy it is to reach. Only areas that can be reached safely are inspected.
- First we discuss the roof, any damp and the forecast for the visit.
- The roof is inspected visually from safe positions.
- We take thermal images of the roof and of the loft where we can reach it.
- Patterns that stand out are checked with moisture readings.
- The report pairs each thermal image with a photo and explains what it suggests.
Before we arrive
- Check we can get to the back of the property
- Jot down any questions you want answered
- Dig out any old roof reports or invoices
