Thermal Roof Survey in Goodley Stock
Know where you stand with the roof before you spend money on it. Thermal roof surveys in Goodley Stock, with photos and a clear written report.
- Gaps in loft insulation
- Damp where roofs meet walls and chimneys
- Wet insulation beneath the membrane
Before and after the survey
From years of surveys, a few habits stand out:
- Talk to us about the weather when booking
- File the images with your roof records
- Let us know where and when you’ve seen damp or stains
- Check from ground level or a window, never by climbing
You also get an in-person consultation with a Premium Survey, so you can go through the images with us. There’s a 12-month follow-up too.
Make sure loft insulation covers the whole area and hasn’t been disturbed. Insulation is frequently moved when people work in the loft space.
Thermal roof survey in Goodley Stock
Thermal imaging is a useful tool, but it has limits. It shows surface temperature, and things like sun, shade, reflections and wind all affect the readings. That’s why we check findings with moisture readings and a close visual inspection. The report is clear about what the images show and what they do not. If a finding cannot be confirmed, the report suggests a next step. We survey pitched roof slopes, insulated roof spaces and commercial roofs, and common reasons people get in touch are damp around chimneys and parapets and leaks far from where the stain appears.
Older buildings in small places like Goodley Stock may be listed or in a conservation area. A look from the air or with a thermal camera does not touch the roof, which suits a building where any change needs care, before anyone decides what work it needs. Check with the council before planning any work on a listed building or one in a conservation area.
What you get is a clear record of the roof on the day we saw it. It is useful right away, and a good reference for later, for instance when you want to check whether anything has changed.

Goodley Stock: your questions answered
Do you cover Goodley Stock?
Yes, Goodley Stock is one of the places we work. Every survey there gets the same written report with photographs, and visits run on weekdays and weekends.
Will you come out to Goodley Stock?
Yes, we do. We survey roofs across London and South East England, from towns to the smallest villages. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
What does the report include?
A written report with photos, explaining the condition of the roof, any defects and our recommendations. Standard adds moisture detection and a structural check; Premium adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable and structural analysis.
What happens next?
The report arrives by email. The Standard Survey includes a follow-up consultation, and the Premium Survey an in-person consultation, so you can talk the findings through.
What’s the best way to book?
To book, call 07833 053749 or send us an email and tell us the address and what you need to know. We will confirm the price and agree a day with you.
Are you insured?
We are covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance, for every survey we carry out.
Can you check my loft insulation with a thermal camera?
The camera can point to heat loss and gaps in insulation. We don’t give energy ratings or heat loss calculations, but the images show where improvements may help.
Flying and imaging in Goodley Stock
If your survey includes the drone, we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before flying. About 1 mile east lies Chartwell, a reminder of how long the area around Goodley Stock has been built on. Older roofs in the wider area can hide decades of patch repairs, so the detail matters.
The streets around a church such as Holy Trinity Church are frequently among the oldest in a place, and if you own one of the older houses nearby, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof frequently shows up clearly on a thermal image.
Goodley Stock is about 6 miles south-west of Sevenoaks, in Kent. Honest limits
Before you book, it’s worth knowing what a survey won’t do:
- Structural calculations, which need a structural engineer
- An energy rating for the building
- Reliable images in rain, strong wind or on a wet roof surface
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can phone 07833 053749 or email us and we’ll tell you. What a survey covers and doesn’t.

Rented homes, blocks and businesses
If you own several properties, you can book surveys for several addresses. To arrange surveys for several addresses, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form.
Freeholders and residents’ companies use a roof report to plan and budget.
What happens if roof problems are left?
Thermal images can suggest the extent of wet areas without cutting into the roof. That helps you and your roofer decide what really needs replacing. Older cottages and farmhouses around Goodley Stock can have roof timbers that have been there a very long time, and water through a failed covering can rot timber if it is left.
We offer three survey packages: the Basic Survey from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, all inc. VAT. What your roof costs depends on its size, access and what you want to find out.

Checking the roof from ground level
Inside, the loft is a good place to look, with care. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, and look for staining, damp timber or daylight coming through.
After heavy rain, check ceilings and the tops of walls for new stains. Take a photo and write down when you saw it, as it helps a surveyor trace the cause.

How the survey works
We do not take risks to get a closer look. Everything that can be seen safely is inspected, and if part of the roof can’t be seen, the report says so. Most visits take between one and two hours for a house, with bigger or more complicated roofs taking longer. In a hamlet or village like Goodley Stock, a postcode does not always lead to the right gate, so a few directions are welcome. After that, the survey runs as it would anywhere.
- We go through the roof, the problem and the weather expected on the day.
- The roof is inspected visually from safe positions.
- We take thermal images of the roof and of the loft where we can reach it.
- We take moisture readings where the images suggest a problem.
- Each image is set beside a normal photo and explained in the report.
Before the survey
- Let us know about any leaks, stains or damp patches you know of
- If you are buying, check with the agent that we can get in
- Mention any parking restrictions on your street
