Thermal roof survey in Moneyrow Green

What a thermal camera can show depends a lot on the weather. A sunny day before the survey, a dry roof surface and little wind all help. Rain, wind and cloud can all make the patterns weaker. We talk through the forecast as you book, and our report notes the conditions and how they affected what we saw. We survey pitched roof slopes, commercial roofs and loft conversions, and the problems we are asked to look at most are water that travels before it shows and gaps in loft insulation.

Some older homes in villages like Moneyrow Green are listed or in a conservation area. A look from the air or with a thermal camera doesn’t touch the roof, which suits a building where any change needs care. Changes that affect a listed building’s special interest need listed building consent, so check with the council first.

We keep jargon out of it: where something needs attention, it says so plainly, along with how urgent it is.

What a thermal roof survey does not cover

This isn’t a RICS building survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. It also has these limits:

  • Proving moisture from the images alone
  • The condition of timbers we can’t see
  • Clear results when the conditions on the day are poor

If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or email us and we’ll point you to the right survey before you book. What our survey covers.

Roofs we survey in Moneyrow Green

  • Insulated roof spaces
  • Commercial roofs
  • Flat roofs
  • Ceilings below the roof
  • Pitched roof slopes
  • Loft conversions

Can I check my roof myself?

Watch the gutters in a downpour, from a window or the ground. Overflowing water can point to a blockage or a sagging run.

You can learn a lot from the ground. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Never climb onto the roof to look.

Do you need a thermal roof survey in Moneyrow Green?

Some owners book because the rooms under the roof feel cold. Missing or slipped insulation can stand out as temperature differences, especially when it’s warm inside and cold outside.

Signs worth acting on include:

  • Damp that repairs haven’t cured
  • Water that travels before it shows
  • Wet insulation beneath the membrane
  • Gaps in loft insulation

For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Holyport CofE Primary School, thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof.

Questions to ask before booking

  • Whether you get a written report with photos
  • Their drone registration, if they fly one
  • Is VAT included in the price?
  • What insurance they carry

What a roof survey includes

Leave it or get it looked at?

Heat lost through a roof costs money every winter. Thermal images can show where insulation is missing or has slipped, so improvements can go where they’re needed. In a small place like Moneyrow Green, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.

The cost of a survey depends on the roof: how big it is, how high it is, the number of separate roofs and how safely it can be seen. Thermal roof survey starts from £400, including VAT.

Why us?

  • Every finding written up with photos
  • An independent look at the roof
  • Thermal imaging and drone inspection where they help
  • Surveys on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays

How it works

The aim of the visit is simple: to see as much of the roof as can safely be seen and record it clearly. Everything we note and photograph goes into the written report. The visit usually takes an hour or two at a typical home, and longer for a large or complex roof. Cottages and farmhouses around Moneyrow Green frequently have roofs at several levels, with lean-tos and outbuildings attached. Each part is looked at from wherever it can be seen safely, and anything we can’t see is noted.

  1. We talk through the roof, any damp or leaks, and the weather expected on the day.
  2. We look at the roof from the ground, from windows and from the roof itself where it is safe.
  3. A thermal camera records how the surface temperature varies across the roof.
  4. We check the patterns that stand out with moisture readings where there is safe access.
  5. You get a report with thermal images, photographs and our recommendations.

Airspace, weather and Moneyrow Green roofs

Slate and clay tile are the usual coverings on older South East houses, with concrete tiles on many later estates, and flat-roofed additions turn up almost everywhere. A drone or thermal camera adds most on the steep, tall and hidden parts of roofs like these. Moneyrow Green is about 3 miles from White Waltham Airfield. If the drone is used for your survey, we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before flying.

Common questions in Moneyrow Green

Do you cover smaller places like Moneyrow Green?

Yes, Moneyrow Green is covered. We survey roofs across London and the South East, from towns to the smallest villages. Longer journeys are simply planned beforehand.

Are there drone restrictions around Moneyrow Green?

It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. Moneyrow Green is about 3 miles from White Waltham Airfield, so the Drone Safety Map is checked for restrictions around it before we fly. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, though the rest of the survey goes ahead either way.

Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?

Yes, once whoever controls the roof agrees access. On a shared roof we can only inspect the parts we’re allowed to reach, and the report makes that clear.

Do I need to be at home?

If the survey includes the loft or the inside of the building, someone needs to let us in. Access is agreed with you when booking.

What do I do with the report?

You will get the report by email. The Standard Survey includes a follow-up consultation, and the Premium Survey an in-person consultation, so you can talk the findings through.

How soon will I get the report?

The Premium Survey report comes the same day, the Standard within 24–48 hours and the Basic within 48 hours. All of them come by email.

What’s in the report?

You get our findings in writing, part by part, with photos. The most urgent items are made clear.
