About our thermal roof survey in Park Gate
Thermal imaging is useful when a damp patch has no clear cause. Leaks often run along a roof before they appear on a ceiling, and temperature patterns can help us trace where it may have come from. We combine the images with a visual inspection and moisture readings, so the findings do not rely on the camera alone. We survey pitched roof slopes, ceilings below the roof and flat roofs, and people most frequently book us about wet insulation beneath the membrane and wet areas near outlets and upstands.
In a small place like Park Gate, open ground can mean strong wind. A small drone cannot fly safely in high wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best with little wind. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. A change in the forecast can mean moving the visit to another day.
Report times depend on the survey you book: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day.

Questions from Park Gate
Will you come out to Park Gate?
Yes. Park Gate is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We survey roofs across London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route as you book.
Is Park Gate in the area you cover?
Yes, Park Gate is within the area we cover. Our area covers London and the South East. Just ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form and let us know about the property, and we’ll talk through which survey suits.
Do you test for asbestos?
No. Asbestos surveys and sampling aren’t something we do. Where a material might contain it, like old cement sheets on a building from before 2000, the report flags it.
Do you carry professional indemnity insurance?
Our surveys are covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance. Ask if you need details for a managing agent or building owner.
Is it the same as a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey?
No. Our survey is a roof survey, not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey of the whole building. It focuses on the roof, so it sits alongside a building survey rather than replacing it.
Can you survey at the weekend?
We survey seven days a week: weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Just let us know the days that suit you.
What do I do with the report?
You will get the report by email. With Standard there’s a follow-up consultation; with Premium, an in-person consultation, so you can talk the findings through.
Thermal roof surveys around Park Gate
The coast is about 3 miles or less from Park Gate. Clear thermal results need a dry roof and little wind after a sunny day, so the date depends on the forecast. If your survey includes the drone, the flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first.
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Park Gate Primary School, a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it. For an older house near a landmark such as St Margaret Mary, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where close-up aerial shots and thermal images help.
Park Gate is about 3 miles south-east of Hedge End, in Hampshire. Park Gate gets the same service as everywhere else we work: a careful look at whatever is safely visible, photos and a clear written report. Our area takes in places right across Hampshire, large and small. Southampton is in our area too.
We work across SO31 for thermal roof surveys. Whether your property is on Station Road, Botley Road and Middle Road or anywhere close by, we can help. If you are just outside Park Gate, we cover Sarisbury (1 mile west), Locks Heath (1 mile south), Segensworth (1 mile east), Whiteley (1 mile north-east) and Swanwick (1 mile north-west). We also work in nearby towns like Winchester (13 miles north), Gosport (7 miles south-east), Havant (12 miles east), Eastleigh (7 miles north-west), Fareham (3 miles south-east) and Horndean (11 miles east).
Near you in Park Gate
Locally, jobs take us to homes and businesses close to Brookfield Community School and Language College and the streets around them. There’s a railway station in Park Gate itself: Swanwick station. Nearby you will also find Bursledon Brickworks Industrial Museum (1.4 miles north-west) and St Andrew's Castle (2.6 miles south-west). The countryside around Park Gate includes Swanwick Lakes.
Leave it or get it looked at?
A poorly insulated roof loses heat year after year. The camera can point to gaps and thin areas in the insulation, so improvements can go where they’re needed. For older village homes like those around Park Gate, the right replacement materials are not always easy to find quickly. Spotting a problem early leaves room to find them.
Thermal imaging and drone inspection (where applicable) come with the Premium Survey, which starts from £400, including VAT. We can help you choose the package that fits what you need to know.

Tips that help
There is plenty you can do without going near the roof. What helps most:
- Leave the roof to people with safe access
- Clear a path to the loft hatch before we arrive
- Heat the home normally on the days before
- Ask us about the forecast if rain is expected
If you’re buying, the report gives you specific points to raise with the seller or agent. It is your decision how to use it, whether you ask for work before completion or discuss the price.
Keep outlets and gutters clear so water drains off the roof quickly. Less standing water means less chance of it getting under the covering.
What we can’t see
A survey is a close look at the roof, but it can’t do everything. The main limits are:
- Hidden layers that need to be opened up to check
- Whether the deck or roof structure is strong enough
- Confirming water without moisture readings
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can phone 07833 053749 or email us and we’ll tell you. What our survey covers.

What affects the cost of thermal roof surveys
When we price a survey, we consider:
- The shape of the roof and its details
- Roof area
- The height of the building and how the roof can be seen safely
- Extensions, dormers and garages with roofs of their own
Every price we give includes VAT, and the report is not charged as an extra. Thermal roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. Where your roof sits in the range depends on its size, height and access.
What to tell us when you contact us
If you can, have these to hand when you get in touch:
- The type of building and roof, like pitched or flat
- Your postcode, so we can check access and travel
- Anything about access we should know
- What’s prompted the survey
Our phone lines are open seven days a week, including Saturdays and Sundays. To book or ask a question, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email.
The survey, step by step
Safety comes first on every visit. Everything that can safely be seen is inspected, and if part of the roof can’t be seen, the report says so. Most visits take an hour or two at a house, including the thermal images, and around 3–4 hours for a commercial roof. Older roofs in small places like Park Gate can have low, tight loft spaces, so it’s useful to know whether there’s a loft hatch and how easy it is to reach. Only areas that can be reached safely are inspected.
- You let us know about the roof and any damp, leaks or cold rooms.
- We check the conditions and note how they may affect the images.
- We inspect the roof and take thermal images during the same visit.
- We back up the thermal patterns with moisture readings.
- The Premium report reaches you the same day, and we go through it with you in person.
Before the survey
- Make a note of anything you’d like us to look at
- Point out any leaks or damp patches
- Move anything stored under the loft hatch

How the survey changes by roof type
Single-ply and EPDM roofs
On big single-ply roofs, the camera helps show where to take readings. It focuses the survey on the areas that matter.
Felt and asphalt flat roofs
Felt and asphalt sit tight to the layers below, which frequently helps the camera pick up differences. Any patterns are checked with moisture readings.
