Thermal roof surveys for homes and businesses in Preston Bissett
Thermal imaging can also show where a roof is losing heat. Gaps in loft insulation and poorly insulated areas can stand out on the images. It works best when the building is heated and it’s colder outside. Our report points out what the images suggest and where to look more closely. We don’t give energy ratings or heat loss calculations. Common reasons to book are leaks that are hard to trace and damp around chimneys and parapets, on commercial roofs, flat roofs and ceilings below the roof.
In a small place like Preston Bissett, open ground can mean strong wind. Strong wind or heavy rain stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. A change in the forecast can mean moving the visit to another day.
You can share the report with anyone who needs it: a seller or estate agent, an insurer, a roofer, a builder or a managing agent.

Your questions about thermal roof surveys in Preston Bissett
Do you cover Preston Bissett?
We do. Every survey there gets the same written report with photos, and visits run on weekdays and weekends.
Will you come out to Preston Bissett?
Yes, we do. We cover the whole of London and South East England, from towns to the smallest villages. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
How soon will I get the report?
Basic reports arrive within 48 hours, Standard reports in 24–48 hours and Premium reports on the same day. Each one is emailed.
What’s in the report?
It explains what we saw, what it means and what we’d suggest, backed by photos. Anything we couldn’t see safely is noted too.
How do I book a survey in Preston Bissett?
It is easiest to phone 07833 053749 or send us an email. Give us the address and a few details about the roof, and we will take it from there. We survey on any day of the week.
How long have you been surveying roofs?
We have been surveying roofs for over 20 years and have carried out more than 5,000 surveys across London and South East England.
Can you tell me if my roof has asbestos?
No. Our report may flag materials that could contain asbestos, but confirming it is a job for a specialist asbestos surveyor. Buildings built or refurbished before 2000 may contain it.
How it works
Expect us to ask a few questions before we start, about the roof’s history, any leaks and past repairs. Then the inspection itself takes an hour or two on an ordinary house; commercial roofs usually need 3–4 hours. Older roofs in small places like Preston Bissett can have low, tight loft spaces, so let us know about the loft hatch and any ladder. Only areas that can be reached safely are inspected.
- We start with the roof, its history and any signs of damp or heat loss.
- The weather and surface conditions are recorded.
- We inspect the roof and take thermal images during the same visit.
- We back up the thermal patterns with moisture readings.
- The Premium report reaches you the same day, and we go through it with you in person.
Before the survey
- Keep pets out of the way during the survey
- Show us where any leaks or stains appear
- Clear the way to the loft hatch
Booking a survey
Most bookings start with a short call: phone 07833 053749 or email us, and we will ask about the building and what you need. You will have a price before anything is arranged.
Advice
Can I check my roof myself?
Inside, the loft is a good place to look, with care. Use a torch and stay on the joists or boards, checking for stains, damp wood or chinks of daylight.
Fresh stains on ceilings or walls after rain are worth noting. Photograph them and note the date.
Honest limits
No survey can tell you everything, and it’s better to know them up front. Keep these in mind:
- An energy rating for the building
- Hidden layers that need to be opened up to check
- Proving moisture from the images alone
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will tell you. What a survey covers and does not.

Thermal roof surveys in Preston Bissett: local notes
Thatch survives on some older buildings in Buckinghamshire’s villages. In this part of the South East, older roofs are mostly slate or clay tile and many newer ones concrete tile. Where a roof is steep, tall or hard to see from the ground, drone photos and thermal images add detail. Where the drone is part of the survey, we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before flying.
Take an older house close to Church of St John the Baptist: older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where close-up aerial shots and thermal images help. With Claydon House about 4.7 miles south-east, the area around Preston Bissett has a long history. A drone or thermal survey does not involve any work on the roof, which suits older buildings.

For landlords and managing agents
Where a roof is shared: access has to be agreed with whoever owns or manages the building. Mention it when you get in touch and we will plan the visit with that in mind.
For a freeholder or residents’ company, a roof report is a sound basis for a maintenance plan.
What we look for on each type of roof
Single-ply and EPDM roofs
Thin membranes can show patterns from the layers beneath. Shiny surfaces can reflect heat, so we take care reading the images.
GRP fibreglass roofs
Water under a GRP roof can reach the timber deck. Thermal imaging can suggest where that may be happening.
Why act early in Preston Bissett
Thermal images can suggest the extent of wet areas without cutting into the roof. It helps when deciding whether to patch an area or replace the roof. Around Preston Bissett, older homes often have old roof timbers, and water through a failed covering can rot timber if it is left.
Price depends partly on the package: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 or Premium from £400, all including VAT. The roof’s size, height and access matter as well.
