FAQs for Sarisbury Green
Is my home in Sarisbury Green listed or in a conservation area?
For listing, use Historic England’s list; for conservation areas, ask the council. It matters most if you are planning to re-roof in a different material.
Do you carry out roof surveys in Sarisbury Green?
Yes. We survey roofs across London and South East England, and Sarisbury Green is part of that. You can ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the address and a few details.
Is it a structural engineer’s report?
No. We’re experienced roof surveyors, and visible signs like sagging are noted, but we do not provide calculations or an engineer’s opinion. If one is needed, the report says so.
How soon will I get the report?
Each package has its own report time. Basic: within 48 hours. Standard: 24 to 48 hours. Premium: the same day. Mention any deadline when you book.
Does thermal imaging work on slate and tile roofs?
It can show heat loss and some damp, but it has more limits there. We explain what the images can and can’t tell you, and we check them with a visual inspection and moisture readings.
How much does a thermal roof survey cost?
Thermal imaging is included in our Premium Survey, from £400. The Premium Survey also covers a full inspection, drone inspection where it applies, structural analysis and a report on the same day.
What happens next?
We email you the written report with photographs and recommendations. You can use it to talk to a seller, an insurer, a roofer or a managing agent, whichever applies.
About our thermal roof survey in Sarisbury Green
Thermal imaging is part of our Premium Survey, which starts from £400. It also includes a drone inspection where it applies, a structural analysis and a same-day report. An in-person consultation and a 12-month follow-up are included too. To book, just ring 07833 053749 or send us an email with the address and what you’ve noticed. Larger commercial roofs are quoted for their size. We survey insulated roof spaces, commercial roofs and flat roofs, and the problems we’re asked to look at most are leaks that are hard to trace and water getting in at parapets and stacks.
Older cottages and houses around Sarisbury Green may have little insulation, and some have extensions with their own roofs. Thermal patterns and close-up photos together give a fuller picture of the roof. Anything that looks like moisture is checked with a meter. Calm, dry weather suits both methods, so the date is set with the forecast in mind.
You receive the findings by email, ready to forward to whoever needs them. Turnaround is within 48 hours for Basic, 24–48 hours for Standard and same day for Premium.

Drones, thermal imaging and Sarisbury Green roofs
The coast is about 2 miles or less from Sarisbury Green. Calm, dry conditions after a sunny day suit thermal imaging best, so the visit is planned around the forecast. Older buildings may be listed or sit in a conservation area. Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the council can say whether a street is in a conservation area. Re-roofing in different materials may need permission there.
For an older house near a landmark like Church of St Paul, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof frequently shows up clearly on a thermal image. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Sarisbury Infant School, thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof.

DIY checks: what’s safe
Fresh stains on ceilings or walls after rain are worth noting. Take a photo and write down when you saw it.
You can learn a lot from ground level. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Please don’t climb up for a closer look.

Honest limits
We only report everything that’s safely in view on the day, so there are some things a survey cannot cover:
- Reliable images in rain, strong wind or on a wet roof surface
- Hidden layers that need to be opened up to check
- Insulation values or heat loss calculations

Useful tips for Sarisbury Green property owners
Nothing here needs a ladder. Our suggestions:
- Note where damp appears and after what weather
- Keep dated photos of any marks on ceilings
- Ask us about the forecast if rain is expected
- Heat the home normally on the days before
Buyers can use the findings when talking to the seller or agent. It’s your decision how to use it, whether you ask for work before completion or discuss the price.
Check loft insulation covers the whole area and hasn’t been disturbed. Gaps often appear after work in the loft.
Different roofs, different checks
Felt and asphalt flat roofs
Felt and asphalt roofs often show wet areas as patches that differ from the rest. Moisture readings are used to check them.
GRP fibreglass roofs
GRP surfaces can be shiny, which affects thermal readings. We allow for reflections and confirm findings with moisture readings.
How we price thermal roof surveys
Survey packages start from £150, including VAT. The price for your roof depends on:
- Building height and the viewpoints available
- The number of roofs, including extensions and garages
- If the survey needs thermal imaging or a drone
- Whether you choose the Basic, Standard or Premium Survey
Our price is from £400, including VAT. The final price depends on the size and height of the roof, access and which survey you book.
Booking your survey
If you can, have these to hand when you get in touch:
- When you need the report by
- How the loft is reached, if there is one
- Pictures from the garden or a window, if you have them
- Why you want a survey: buying, a leak, a storm or new work
Most bookings start with a short call: phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email. The price is agreed before a date is set.
The survey, step by step
There isn’t much for you to do on the day. Point out anything you’ve noticed, such as stains, drips or loose pieces, and we will get on with the inspection. The survey itself takes an hour or two on an ordinary house, or half a day or so for a commercial building. In a smaller place like Sarisbury Green, parking is seldom the issue; lanes, gates and long drives are worth mentioning. On bungalows and lower roofs, much can be seen from the ground, with the loft showing the underside, while taller roofs may need other vantage points or the drone where applicable.
- We start by discussing the roof, any signs of damp and how the weather may affect the images.
- The roof is inspected visually from safe viewpoints.
- A thermal camera records how the surface temperature varies across the roof.
- We check the patterns that stand out with moisture readings where there is safe access.
- You get a report with thermal images, photographs and our recommendations.
Preparing for the visit
- Have any questions written down, so nothing gets missed
- Check we can get to the back of the property
- If it is not your property yet, arrange access through the agent
