How a drone roof survey works in Sarisbury Green
Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. We keep it in sight throughout, and well below the 120-metre height limit. Every flight is planned around the roof, the site and the people nearby. Before every flight, we check the airspace and the weather. Safety comes first on every visit. We survey large and complex roofs, chimney stacks and flat roofs on upper floors, and common reasons people get in touch are standing water on a flat roof and coverings that have slipped high up on the roof.
Around Sarisbury Green, lots of roofs are low enough to see partly from the garden or the street. The parts you cannot see, such as rear slopes, valleys and chimney tops, are where a drone or thermal camera adds detail. Both depend on the weather on the day, as calm, dry conditions suit both. Even so, a close-up image frequently shows wear on ridges and flashings that a view from ground level misses.
The report is yours to share with whoever needs it: a seller or estate agent, an insurer, a roofer, a builder or a managing agent.

Leave it or get it looked at?
Leaving a high roof unchecked means relying on what you can see from below. A drone replaces that guesswork with clear photographs, slope by slope. Seeing the problem makes it easier to decide what to do. In a smaller place like Sarisbury Green, wherever a roof is exposed, a loose ridge or flashing doesn’t stay loose for long. Each storm lifts it a little further, and water follows.
Prices start from £400, including VAT. Basic starts from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, VAT included, and we will tell you which fits.

What we’re asked to look at in Sarisbury Green
After storms, owners want to know what has moved. Damage on a high or steep roof is hard to judge from the garden. Close-up photos make it clear what has been disturbed.
Common reasons to book include:
- Eroded pointing on a chimney stack
- Outlets choked with leaves and silt
- Lead work pulling away at abutments
- Cracked mortar along the ridge
Take an older house close to Church of St Paul: older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where close-up aerial shots and thermal images help.

How the survey works
You do not need to do much on the day. Point out anything you’ve noticed, such as stains, drips or loose pieces, and we will take it from there. A typical survey takes about 1–2 hours at most homes, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. Homes around Sarisbury Green often have gardens on more than one side, which gives us room to step back and see the roof. Let us know if any side is fenced off or hard to reach. Inside, the loft is checked where it can be reached safely.
- We start by making sure a drone flight makes sense for the roof.
- We agree a date, including weekends, subject to the weather.
- The roof is photographed from the air, with the camera kept on your property.
- We also look inside the loft space where it is safe.
- Everything is written up, with the aerial photos and our advice.
Getting ready for the survey
- Unlock side gates and any roof access doors
- Let us know about parking before the day
- Make a note of anything you’d like us to look at

Advice
Should I look at the roof myself first?
Look up at the roof after a storm, from ground level: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Don’t go up yourself.
A DIY look is useful, but it is not a survey. You won’t see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from ground level.
Sarisbury Green: your questions answered
Are there drone restrictions around Sarisbury Green?
The answer turns on the exact location and the conditions on the day. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. A small drone cannot fly safely in high wind or heavy rain.
Is my home in Sarisbury Green listed or in a conservation area?
We cannot confirm that for you, but Historic England’s list and your council can. A change of roofing material may need consent in either case, and councils can also use Article 4 directions.
Can you survey in bad weather?
A survey can normally go ahead in light rain. Heavy rain or strong wind can ground a drone and make the roof unsafe, so if conditions are not right we’ll arrange another day with you.
Do you cover Sarisbury Green?
Yes. We cover Sarisbury Green and the rest of Hampshire. To book, call 07833 053749 or email us.
Does someone need to be in?
It depends on what we need to see. For inside areas and the roof space, someone has to give us access, while outside access can be discussed as you book.
Does the report include photographs?
Yes. Photographs are taken throughout the survey, and they go into the written report.
I live in a flat. Can you survey the roof?
Yes, once whoever controls the roof agrees access. On a shared roof we can only inspect the parts we’re allowed to reach, and the report makes that clear.
What a drone roof survey doesn’t cover
We only report whatever is safely visible on the day, so some things are outside what a survey can do:
- A flight on a day when the weather is not safe
- A flight where airspace permission is refused
- Whether the roof structure meets design loads
If you are not sure which survey you need, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will give you a straight answer before booking. The full list of what we check.
