Drone roof survey in Park Gate

A drone can see more than your roof, so we take care. The camera stays on your roof, not on gardens or windows next door. If your roof is shared, a word with next door beforehand helps. We survey the roof you’ve asked us to look at. Flights are kept as short as the job allows and focused on the roof in question. Typical surveys look at blocked valleys and parapet gutters and gaps where slates or tiles have gone, on chimney stacks, large and complex roofs and tall and steep roofs.

In a small place like Park Gate, open ground can mean strong wind. A small drone can’t fly safely in high wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best with little wind. The visit is planned around the forecast, along with the journey and access. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.

Report times depend on the survey you book: the Basic Survey within 48 hours, the Standard Survey in 24 to 48 hours and the Premium Survey on the same day.

Park Gate: your questions answered

Are there drone restrictions around Park Gate?

That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain.

Do you cover smaller places like Park Gate?

Yes, Park Gate is on our map. Villages and rural addresses get the same survey as a town house, with the route planned beforehand.

Are you insured?

Professional indemnity and public liability insurance cover our surveys. Ask if you need details for a managing agent or building owner.

Does the weather affect the survey?

Light rain is typically fine; heavy rain and wind are different. In high wind or heavy rain, a drone cannot fly and access may not be safe, and we’d agree another day.

Does the report include photos?

Yes, every report has them. Each finding is shown in a picture where possible, so you can see what we mean.

Is this an asbestos survey?

No. Asbestos surveys and testing aren’t part of what we do. We flag materials that could contain asbestos, such as cement sheets or soffits on pre-2000 buildings and suggest a specialist asbestos surveyor checks them before any work.

Will you check the loft?

If there’s a loft and safe access to it, yes. From inside, the underside of the roof often shows damp, staining or daylight that can’t be seen from outside.

The survey, step by step

Photos are taken throughout the visit, so you can see in the report what we found and where. Close-ups come from the safest viewpoint available, including by drone where it’s applicable and the weather allows. A typical visit takes about 1–2 hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Somewhere as small as Park Gate, access is often the only tricky part. Let us know about outbuildings, past repairs and any leaks you’ve noticed. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays.

  1. You give us the address and tell us about the roof.
  2. We check the airspace and seek any permission needed.
  3. Before take-off, the wind, the weather and the launch spot are checked.
  4. The drone photographs the roof closely, kept in sight throughout.
  5. The findings, photos and recommendations reach you by email.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention any parking restrictions on your street
  • Make sure the loft hatch can be reached
  • Make a note of anything you’d like us to look at

Drones, thermal imaging and Park Gate roofs

Park Gate lies within about 3 miles of the sea, where wind off the sea can be strong. The weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead, as a small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain. We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). Open category rules keep flights below 120 m (400 ft) and the drone within sight at all times.

If you live in an older home near St Margaret Mary, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof frequently shows up clearly on a thermal image. If you look after a building like Park Gate Primary School, a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit.

Tips that help

These tips come from what we see on roofs every week:

  • Be ready to move the date if the weather turns
  • Shut pets inside while we fly
  • A word with neighbours beforehand helps
  • Share the postcode so we can check for restrictions

Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos from the flight. Findings are set out in plain English, with recommendations prioritised by urgency where relevant.

Check the loft now and then, with care and a good torch. The underside often shows problems before the outside does. Take photos of any changes.

When you need someone else

Our findings are based on what we can see safely on the day, so some things are outside what a survey can do:

  • Flights in a restricted zone without permission
  • A structural engineer’s report
  • Photos in conditions too poor to fly

If you are not sure which survey you need, call 07833 053749 or send us an email and we will give you a straight answer before booking. What our survey covers.

Roofs we survey in Park Gate

  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Fragile roofs
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Chimney stacks
  • Valleys and parapet gutters

Should I look at the roof myself first?

Watch the gutters in a downpour, from a window or the ground. Overflowing water can point to a blockage or a sagging run.

Fresh stains on ceilings or walls after rain are worth noting. Take a photo and write down when you saw it.

Landlords, agents and block managers in Park Gate

Any of our surveys can be booked by landlords, agents and building managers in Park Gate. To discuss a property or a block, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email.

Different roofs, different checks

Chimney stacks

Chimney tops are hard to see from the ground. Close-up photos show the pots, flaunching, pointing and flashings, so cracks and gaps are clear.

Ridges and hips

The ridge takes wind from both sides. From above, we can see loose ridges and missing mortar.
