Thermal roof surveys for Sevenscore homes and businesses

When you need someone else

It’s a careful look at the roof, not the whole story. The main limits are:

  • Confirming water without moisture readings
  • The condition of timbers we cannot see
  • An energy rating for the building

If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will suggest the right survey. The full list of what we check.

About our thermal roof survey in Sevenscore

Our Premium Survey, from £400, brings together a full roof inspection and thermal imaging. It also includes a drone inspection where it applies, a structural analysis and a same-day report. There is an in-person consultation as well, plus a follow-up 12 months later. To book, just phone 07833 053749 or send us an email with the address and what you’ve noticed. For big commercial roofs, we quote on size and access. We survey commercial roofs, flat roofs and pitched roof slopes, and people most often book us about leaks far from where the stain appears and damp around roof outlets and upstands.

Older buildings in small places like Sevenscore may be listed or in a conservation area. A look from the air or with a thermal camera doesn’t touch the roof, which suits a building where any change needs care, before anyone decides what work it needs. Check with the council before planning any work on a listed building or one in a conservation area.

The report works through the roof section by section, from the coverings down to the gutters. It records what’s sound as well as what isn’t.

The survey, step by step

You don’t need to do much on the day. Show us any stains, drips or problem areas you know about, and we’ll get on with the inspection. A typical survey takes an hour or two at a typical home, and longer for a large or complex roof. For a village or hamlet like Sevenscore, the journey is planned ahead of time: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. The roof is looked at from the ground, from windows, from the loft where there’s safe access and from the roof where it’s safe.

  1. We go through the roof, the problem and the weather expected on the day.
  2. We look over the roof from wherever it is safe.
  3. We take thermal images of the roof and of the loft where we can reach it.
  4. We take moisture readings where the images suggest a problem.
  5. Each image is set beside a normal photo and explained in the report.

Before we arrive

  • Leave a clear route to the loft
  • Agree roof access with the managing agent if it is shared
  • Gather any invoices or paperwork from past roof work

Arrange a survey

A quick phone call is typically the easiest start: call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we’ll ask a few questions about the roof. The price is agreed before a date is set.

Advice

Prices for thermal roof surveys in Sevenscore

Survey packages start from £150, with VAT included. The price for your roof depends on:

  • The roof’s overall size
  • Whether it’s a home or a commercial building
  • Chimneys, valleys, parapets and other details
  • Extensions, dormers and garages with roofs of their own

One thing that affects the price is the package: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 or Premium from £400, all including VAT. The roof’s size, height and access matter as well.

Helping us price your survey

When you call or email, these details help:

  • Pictures of the roof from a safe spot, if you have them
  • What’s prompted the survey
  • The type of building and roof, such as pitched or flat
  • Any marks or damp showing indoors

Booking is simple: just ring 07833 053749 or email us, tell us about the property and we will explain which survey suits. We confirm the price before anything is booked.

Drones, thermal imaging and Sevenscore roofs

Sevenscore is within about 2 miles of the coast, and coastal wind can be strong. Clear thermal results need a dry roof and little wind after a sunny day, so the date depends on the forecast. Where the drone is part of the survey, the flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first.

For an older house near a landmark such as St Mary, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement. For businesses in and around places like Westwood Cross, a commercial roof can be photographed from above without anyone walking on it.

Sevenscore is about 3 miles west of Ramsgate, in Kent. Houses, flats, blocks and commercial buildings in Sevenscore can all book thermal roof surveys, with a written report and photographs every time. Common questions in Sevenscore

Is Sevenscore within the area you cover?

Yes, Sevenscore is on our map. Villages and rural addresses get the same survey as a town house.

Do you carry out roof surveys in Sevenscore?

We do. Every survey there gets the same written report with photographs, and visits run on weekdays and weekends.

Will thermal imaging find my leak?

Thermal imaging can help, alongside other checks. What it shows depends on the weather and the roof. If the source cannot be confirmed, we’ll say what could help next, such as electronic leak detection.

Do you test for asbestos?

No. We can flag materials that might contain asbestos, but confirming it is a job for a specialist asbestos surveyor. Buildings built or refurbished before 2000 may contain it.

What will the report tell me?

It works through the roof part by part, in writing and with photos. The most urgent items are made clear.

Can thermal imaging show missing insulation?

Gaps and thin areas of insulation can show up on the camera. The difference is clearest when the building is heated and it’s colder outside. Where we can reach the loft safely, we check there too.

Do you carry out surveys on Saturdays and Sundays?

We carry out surveys seven days a week. To find a day that suits you, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email.

Do you need a thermal roof survey in Sevenscore?

Once a leak has been fixed, people often ask whether the roof is still wet. A thermal survey with moisture readings can show whether wet areas remain, given suitable conditions on the day.

A survey can pick up problems such as:

  • Leaks far from where the stain appears
  • Gaps in loft insulation
  • Heat escaping through the roof
  • Areas of a flat roof that may hold water

With Quex Park about 2.8 miles north-west, the area around Sevenscore has a long history. For older roofs nearby, a look by drone or thermal camera is a hands-off way to check condition.

What to expect from a roof survey

Why act early in Sevenscore

A damp patch that keeps coming back normally has a cause that hasn’t been found. Thermal imaging with moisture readings can help narrow it down, instead of trying repair after repair. Matching old materials, like handmade tiles or stone slates, can take time to source. Spotting a problem early leaves room to find them.

There are three survey packages: the Basic Survey from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, all inc. VAT. What your roof costs depends on its size, access and what you want to find out.

Roof by roof

Felt and asphalt flat roofs

Felt and asphalt sit tight to the layers below, which often helps the camera pick up differences. Any patterns are checked with moisture readings.

Pitched slate and tile roofs

From inside the loft, the camera can help with damp around chimneys, valleys and roof windows. Findings are checked with moisture readings.
