Thermal roof survey in Way: what you get
We present each thermal image next to a normal photo of the same area, so it is easy to see which part of the roof each one shows. Each one comes with an explanation, the moisture readings and our recommendation. Premium reports are sent the same day. You can talk the findings through with us at the in-person consultation. A follow-up 12 months later is included too. Common reasons to book are moisture around outlets and upstands and water that travels before it shows, across ceilings below the roof, commercial roofs and pitched roof slopes.
In a village or hamlet like Way, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. Close-up drone photos and thermal images help show what cannot be reached safely. Weather and airspace are checked before the visit, and the journey is planned in advance. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.
If any part of the roof couldn’t be seen safely, we say so in the report. That way, it’s clear what was covered and what wasn’t, and what we’d suggest next.

Why act early in Way
A poorly insulated roof loses heat year after year. Thermal images can show where insulation is missing or has slipped, so you know where to put things right. Matching old materials, such as handmade tiles or stone slates, can take time to source. Spotting a problem early leaves room to find them.
Price depends partly on the package: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 or Premium from £400, all with VAT included. The roof’s size, height and access matter as well.
What you get with us

Do you need a thermal roof survey in Way?
Cold rooms under a roof, or high heating bills, lead some people to ask about heat loss. Missing or slipped insulation can stand out as temperature differences, particularly when there’s a clear difference between inside and outside.
These are some of the problems a survey can pick up:
- Stains that keep coming back
- Areas losing heat at the eaves and junctions
- Possible trapped moisture under a flat roof covering
- Water that travels before it shows
With Quex Park about 2 miles north, the area around Way has a long history. Close-up aerial shots and thermal images let an old roof be checked without anyone disturbing it.
Before you book anyone
- Whether you get a written report with photos
- Their track record with similar roofs
- What follow-up you get after the report
- Are they insured for the work?
Before and after the survey
Nothing here needs a ladder. Our suggestions:
- Photograph damp patches with the date
- Use the report as a baseline for later checks
- Don’t switch the heating off before the visit
- Let us know where and when you’ve seen damp or stains
Many people send the report to roofers, who can then quote for the areas shown. Because the images are paired with photos, it is easy to find each area on the roof.
Check loft insulation covers the whole area and hasn’t been disturbed. Insulation is frequently moved when people work in the loft space.
What happens on the day
The visit has one job: to look at the roof as closely as is safe and record what we find. Everything we note and photograph goes into the written report. The visit typically takes between one and two hours at most homes, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. Rural addresses near Way can be hard to find from a postcode alone, so a few directions are welcome. The visit itself is the same as anywhere else.
- You let us know about the roof and any damp, leaks or cold rooms.
- We check the conditions and note how they may affect the images.
- We inspect the roof and take thermal images during the same visit.
- We back up the thermal patterns with moisture readings.
- You get the report the same day, with an in-person consultation to follow.
Getting ready for the survey
- Make sure the loft hatch can be reached
- If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building
- Jot down any questions you want answered
Getting a price
Prices start from £400, including VAT. What you pay depends on the roof’s size, access and the package, so phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the details.

Common questions in Way
Do you cover Way?
Yes, Way is one of the places we work. Every survey there gets the same written report with photographs.
Is my home in Way listed or in a conservation area?
Your council is the best source, with Historic England’s list for listed buildings. Both listing and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material, and councils can also use Article 4 directions.
What can thermal imaging tell me about my roof?
The images show how warm or cool each part of the surface is. Differences can suggest wet areas, missing insulation or heat loss, and we check them with moisture readings.
How quickly is the report sent?
That depends on the survey you book: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day. The report is emailed to you.
Will you photograph what you find?
Yes, plenty. Each finding is shown in a picture where possible.
Can a thermal survey trace a roof leak?
It can help narrow down where water may be getting in. Patterns can suggest where trapped water has spread. It is used alongside a close inspection and moisture readings, as the camera alone can’t prove a leak.
Can you survey at the weekend?
We survey on any day from Monday to Sunday, during the day, which suits people who work during the week. Let us know your preferred days when booking.

Flying and imaging in Way
Way is within about 3 miles of the coast, and coastal wind can be strong. Thermal imaging works best after a sunny day, with a dry roof surface and little wind, so the date is chosen with the forecast in mind. Handmade clay tiles, including Kent peg tiles hung on pegs through two holes, are typical of older Kent buildings. The county’s older buildings also include oast houses and timber-framed Wealden hall houses. A drone or thermal camera adds most on the steep, tall and hidden parts of roofs like these.
Anyone responsible for a site like Minster Church of England Primary School will know that a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit. For businesses in and around places such as Westwood Cross, large commercial roofs are frequently easiest to see by drone or thermal camera.
