Stalisfield Thermal Roof Survey
Thermal imaging to find moisture and heat loss patterns in a roof in Stalisfield. We’ve completed more than 5,000 surveys across London and South East England.
- Cold areas below the roof
- Damp that repairs haven’t cured
- Leaks that are hard to trace
Rented homes, blocks and businesses
Roof problems in a rented home affect tenants as well as the building. A survey helps you spot issues early and plan the work.
Letting agents often book on a landlord’s behalf, and the report can go to both. We agree a time with the tenant beforehand.
Thermal roof survey in Stalisfield
A thermal survey is not a quick fix for every roof problem. It shows surface temperature, and things like sun, shade, reflections and wind all affect the readings. We back up the images with moisture readings and a careful look at the roof. The report is clear about what the images show and what they do not. Where something cannot be confirmed, we say what would help next. We survey flat roofs, loft conversions and commercial roofs, and the problems we’re asked to look at most are damp around roof outlets and upstands and leaks far from where the stain appears.
Villages like Stalisfield frequently stand in open country, where wind can be strong. Strong wind or heavy rain stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. The visit is planned around the forecast, along with the journey and access. A change in the forecast can mean moving the visit to another day.
Report times depend on the survey you book: the Basic Survey within 48 hours, the Standard Survey in 24 to 48 hours and the Premium Survey on the same day.

Thermal roof surveys around Stalisfield
About 2.6 miles north-east lies Belmont House and Gardens, a reminder of how long the area around Stalisfield has been built on. Older roofs in the wider area can hide decades of patch repairs, so the detail matters, and the council can say whether a home is in a conservation area. Many older homes in Kent have handmade clay tiles, including Kent peg tiles held by pegs through two holes, and tile-hanging on their upper walls. Oast houses and timber-framed Wealden hall houses are part of the county’s older buildings too. Older coverings on steep or tall roofs are hard to judge from below, so close-up aerial photos and thermal images help.
If your home is one of the older ones in the streets near Church of St Mary, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from the ground, and that is where a view from above or with a thermal imager helps.
Stalisfield is about 6 miles south-west of Preston, in Kent. In Stalisfield, as across Kent, every roof gets the same careful survey. Stalisfield is one of the towns and villages in Kent we cover for thermal roof surveys. We also survey roofs in Maidstone.

Leave it or get it looked at?
Repeated repairs that don’t stop a leak are a sign the source hasn’t been traced. Thermal imaging with moisture readings can help narrow it down, instead of trying repair after repair. Outbuildings and barns around Stalisfield are easy to forget, but a failed roof there can spoil what’s stored inside. A quick look before winter can save a lot.
The Premium Survey includes thermal imaging and drone inspection where it applies, which starts from £400, inc. VAT. We can help you choose the package that fits what you’d like to know.

Tips from our surveys
A survey works best with a little help from you, before and after. Some tips:
- Do not climb onto the roof to look for leaks yourself
- Don’t switch the heating off before the visit
- Remember the conditions on the day affect the results
- Keep outlets and gutters clear to stop water sitting
The report explains the conditions on the day and how they affected the images. It helps you judge how firm each finding is.
Check that loft insulation is laid evenly and hasn’t been pushed aside. Insulation is frequently moved when people work in the loft space.
FAQs for Stalisfield
Do you carry out roof surveys in Stalisfield?
Yes. We cover the whole of London and South East England, and Stalisfield is part of that. Just call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and tell us about the property, and we’ll talk through which survey suits.
Does a conservation area affect roof work in Stalisfield?
Your council is the best source, with Historic England’s list for listed buildings. A change of roofing material may need consent in either case.
What does a thermal roof survey show?
The camera records how the surface temperature varies. Those patterns can point to trapped moisture, missing insulation or heat loss. Findings are checked with moisture readings.
Will I get photos?
Yes. The report includes photos of what we found, so you can see each point for yourself.
Are you structural engineers?
No. We note visible signs such as sagging or deflection, but we don’t carry out calculations or give an engineer’s opinion. Where an engineer is needed, we say so in the report.
How quickly is the report sent?
The Premium Survey report comes the same day, the Standard within 24–48 hours and the Basic within 48 hours. All of them come by email, ready to forward.
I live in a flat. Can you survey the roof?
Yes, once access has been agreed. Roofs over flats are often shared, so we need permission from the freeholder or managing agent. We can only inspect what we’re given access to.
Checking the roof from the ground
If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, and look for staining, damp timber or daylight coming through.
Look up at the roof after a storm, from the ground: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.
How the survey works
We photograph the roof as we go, so you can see in the report what we found and where. We take close-ups from wherever is safe, including by drone where it is applicable and the weather allows. A typical visit takes about 1–2 hours for most homes, plus time to check any thermal findings with moisture readings. For a village or hamlet like Stalisfield, the journey is planned beforehand: let us know about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. On the day, we inspect whatever is safely visible, inside and out.
- We start by discussing the roof, any signs of damp and how the weather may affect the images.
- We carry out a visual inspection of the roof from wherever it can be seen safely.
- A thermal camera records how the surface temperature varies across the roof.
- Any patterns of interest are checked with moisture readings where we can reach them.
- We write up the thermal images alongside ordinary photos and recommendations.
How to prepare
- If you are buying, check with the agent that we can get in
- Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors
- Keep pets out of the way during the survey
