Drone Roof Survey in Allbrook
Not sure what state the roof is in? We carry out drone roof surveys in Allbrook and across Hampshire.
- Flashings that have come away
- Coverings that have slipped high up on the roof
- Blistered or cracked flat roof coverings
Do you need a drone roof survey in Allbrook?
The top of a stack is the most exposed part of many roofs. From ground level, you rarely see cracked flaunching or loose pots. Close-up drone photos show their condition.
Here are some of the things we see often:
- Plant growth and moss on the roof
- Debris building up in hidden gutters
- Flat roofs on upper floors that hold water
- Tired mortar and pots at the top of a stack
If you own one of the older houses in the streets near St. Peter's Church, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof frequently shows up clearly on a thermal image.

How a drone roof survey works in Allbrook
Prices start from £400, including VAT. A drone inspection, where it applies, is also part of our Premium Survey, with a same-day report, structural analysis and an in-person consultation. There’s a 12-month follow-up as well. We’ll tell you if a drone isn’t the right tool for your roof. You get a written report with the close-up photos from the flight. We survey valleys and parapet gutters, chimney stacks and large and complex roofs, and the problems we are asked to look at most are flat roofs on upper floors that hold water and gaps where slates or tiles have gone.
In smaller places like Allbrook, many homes are bungalows and houses with roofs you can partly see from ground level. The parts you cannot see, such as rear slopes, valleys and chimney tops, are where a drone or thermal camera adds detail. Both depend on the weather on the day, as calm, dry conditions suit both. Close-up images frequently show wear on ridges, verges and flashings that cannot be judged properly from ground level.
The written findings come by email, ready to forward to whoever needs them. Basic reports come within 48 hours, Standard within 24–48 hours and Premium on the day.

FAQs for Allbrook
Is drone flying allowed in Allbrook?
That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Allbrook is inside, or right on the edge of, the flight restriction zone around Southampton Airport. Before any flight there, we ask the airport for permission, and the flight only goes ahead if it’s given. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.
Is my home in Allbrook listed or in a conservation area?
Your council is the best source, with Historic England’s list for listed buildings. A change of roofing material may need consent in either case, and councils can also use Article 4 directions.
Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?
Yes. Shared roofs just need a little more planning. Tell us about it when booking and we’ll plan the survey around it.
Do you test for asbestos?
No. We don’t sample or test for asbestos. The report may flag materials that could contain asbestos on buildings built or refurbished before 2000, with a recommendation to have a specialist asbestos surveyor check before it is disturbed.
Is this a RICS survey?
No. Our survey is a roof survey, not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey of the whole building. It focuses on the roof, so it sits alongside a building survey rather than replacing it.
Are you insured?
Every survey is covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance, and we can provide details if a managing agent needs them.
What happens next?
We email you the written report with photos and recommendations. You can use it to talk to a seller, an insurer, a roofer or a managing agent, whichever applies.
Tips that help
Most of what helps is simple and safe from the ground. A few suggestions:
- Clear the loft hatch so we can check inside too
- Let us know what you want to see
- Clear a spot on the drive or lawn
- Give us the full address so we can check the airspace
We email the report to you, with close-up photos from the flight. Each finding is explained in plain words, and recommendations are ranked by urgency where that helps.
Keep the roof space ventilated. Condensation in the loft can damage timbers and insulation. Make sure insulation does not block the airflow.
Checking the roof from ground level
Your own check is a good start, but it isn’t a survey. You won’t see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from ground level.
Look up at the roof after a storm, from ground level: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.
What affects the cost of drone roof surveys
Our packages start from £150, inc. VAT. What you pay for your roof depends on:
- The height of the building and how the roof can safely be seen
- If the survey needs thermal imaging or a drone
- The number of roofs, including extensions and garages
- Chimneys, valleys, parapets and other details
A Basic Survey starts from £150, inc. VAT. The Standard Survey starts from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, both including VAT. We confirm the price for your survey before booking.

The survey, step by step
Once we have finished looking, we write up our findings as a written report with photos, emailed to you. On timing, it typically takes roughly 1–2 hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Homes around Allbrook frequently have gardens on more than one side, which gives us room to step back and see the roof. Let us know if any side is fenced off or hard to reach. The loft, where there is safe access, completes the picture.
- First, we check the address for flight restrictions.
- Where a flight restriction zone or restricted area applies, we seek permission first.
- We assess the wind, the weather and the surroundings before take-off.
- The sub-250g drone takes close-up photos of the roof, kept in sight throughout.
- Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos and recommendations.
Preparing for the visit
- For flats, make sure roof access has been agreed
- Note where any stains or damp appear
- If it isn’t your property yet, arrange access through the agent
