Beltinge Drone Roof Survey
Close-up drone photographs of roofs that are hard to reach in Beltinge, using drones and thermal imaging where it applies. Get in touch for a price.
- Outlets choked with leaves and silt
- Cracked mortar along the ridge
- Storm damage on steep or tall roofs
What this survey cannot tell you
Our survey is not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. Other limits to bear in mind:
- Roofs and gardens beyond the one we’re surveying
- Photos in conditions too poor to fly
- A structural engineer’s report
If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email and we will recommend the right survey before you book. The full list of what we check.

How a drone roof survey works in Beltinge
Tall, steep, large or fragile roofs can’t always be inspected up close. A drone takes close-up photographs of those roofs from the air. You see slates, ridges, chimneys, valleys and gutters in detail, including slopes that cannot be seen from the street. Everything we find goes into a report with photos. It also suits roofs that would be damaged by someone walking on them. If we can’t fly, we tell you why. We survey tall and steep roofs, valleys and parapet gutters and fragile roofs, and the problems we’re asked to look at most are gaps where slates or tiles have gone and cracked flaunching or loose chimney pots.
Older cottages and houses around Beltinge may have little insulation, and some have extensions with their own roofs. A thermal image can show where heat is escaping or where moisture may be trapped, and drone photos show the roof surfaces themselves. Anything that looks like moisture is checked with a meter. Calm, dry weather suits both methods, so the date is set with the forecast in mind.
Report times depend on the survey you book: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day.

Drones, thermal imaging and Beltinge roofs
Beltinge is within about 1 mile of the coast, where wind off the sea can be strong. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, so the weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead. Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight.
The streets around a church like Church of St Bartholomew are frequently among the oldest in a place, and if you own one of the older houses nearby, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from ground level, and that is where a view from the air or with a thermal camera helps. Anyone responsible for a site like Reculver Church of England Primary School will know that big roofs are where close-up aerial shots and thermal images show the most at once.
Beltinge is about 1 mile east of Herne Bay, in Kent. Beltinge gets the same service as everywhere else we work: a close look at whatever is safely visible, photographs and a clear written report. Our area takes in places right across Kent, large and small. For surveys nearby, see our Canterbury page.
We work across CT6 for drone roof surveys. Local streets include Manor Road, Puffin Road and Cliff Avenue, and we cover them all. We also cover the places around Beltinge: Bishopstone (1 mile east), Hillborough (1 mile south-east), Hawthorn (1 mile south-east), Broomfield (1 mile south) and Herne Bay (1 mile west). Further out, we also cover Canterbury (7 miles south-west), Margate (10 miles east), Ramsgate (11 miles east), Broadstairs (12 miles east), Whitstable (6 miles west) and Deal (15 miles south-east).
Landmarks near Beltinge
We work in homes and buildings around Herne Bay High School and Bishopstone Cliffs, among other places. The nearest railway station is Herne Bay station, roughly 1.9 miles west of the centre. Nearby you’ll also find Whitstable and Tankerton Hospital (4.8 miles west). Not far away are West Blean and Thornden Woods.
For landlords and managing agents
Buyers’ agents can book surveys on behalf of their clients. The report is emailed, so it can go straight to your client.
Where a roof is shared: access has to be agreed with whoever owns or manages the building. Let us know about it as you book and we’ll plan the survey around it.
What we look for on each type of roof
Large commercial roofs
Older cement sheet roofs may contain asbestos. We flag it in the report and recommend a specialist asbestos surveyor.
Valleys and parapet gutters
A butterfly roof drains to a central valley gutter. It is almost impossible to see from ground level, but it is plain to see from the air.
Why act early in Beltinge
Photos from a drone survey show how the roof looks today. Comparing them with later photos shows what has changed. It’s useful for planning maintenance over the years. Around Beltinge, a leak in an older house can soak into timbers and plaster, which is far harder to put right than the roof fault itself.
Prices quoted always include VAT, and the written report is part of the package. Our price is from £400, including VAT. Where your roof sits in the range depends on its size, height and access.

Common questions in Beltinge
Is my home in Beltinge listed or in a conservation area?
The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. Either can affect what roof work is allowed, so it is worth checking before planning any.
Do you cover smaller places like Beltinge?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We cover the whole of London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.
How many surveys have you done?
We have been surveying roofs for over 20 years and have carried out more than 5,000 surveys.
Do you carry out surveys on Saturdays and Sundays?
We carry out surveys on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. To arrange a date, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form.
Are you structural engineers?
No. Visible signs such as deflection or sagging are recorded, but calculations and an engineer’s opinion are outside what we do. If one is needed, the report says so.
How long will you be at the property?
The visit normally takes roughly 1–2 hours for a house, rising to roughly 3–4 hours on a commercial building. We will give you an idea of timing as you book.
Will the drone show what’s under the tiles?
No. The drone photographs the outer surfaces, but not the loft or the underside. Where there’s safe access, we check the loft space from inside.
What happens on the day
There isn’t much for you to do on the day. Point out anything you’ve noticed, like stains, drips or loose pieces, and we’ll get on with the inspection. A typical survey takes about 1–2 hours for most houses, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. In a smaller place like Beltinge, parking is seldom the issue; lanes, gates and long drives are worth mentioning. On bungalows and lower roofs, much can be seen from ground level, with the loft showing the underside, while taller roofs may need other vantage points or the drone where it applies.
- You give us the address so we can check the airspace.
- Where a flight restriction zone or restricted area applies, we seek permission first.
- Before the flight, we check the conditions and the take-off spot.
- We fly the drone close to the roof to photograph it in detail, always in sight.
- Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos and recommendations.
Before the survey
- Buyers: confirm access with the estate agent or seller
- Check pets are kept safely away
- Have any questions written down, so nothing gets missed
