Drone roof survey in Brockham: what you get
Every flight starts with an airspace check. Flight restriction zones around airports such as Heathrow, Gatwick and London City need permission from the airport or air traffic control. Parts of central London have restricted areas too, where NATS permission is needed. If we can’t fly, we use other safe vantage points instead and explain why. Prison sites also have drone restriction zones. Typical surveys look at worn lead at chimneys and walls and chimney tops in poor condition, on valleys and parapet gutters, large and complex roofs and fragile roofs.
In a small place like Brockham, open ground can mean strong wind. A small drone can’t fly safely in high wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best with little wind. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. A change in the forecast can mean moving the visit to another day.
Report times depend on the survey you book: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day.

Why get it checked now?
Close-up photos make conversations with roofers clearer. You can show exactly where the problem is, which helps when you ask for quotes. In a small place like Brockham, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.
The Premium Survey includes thermal imaging and drone inspection where it applies, which starts from £400, with VAT included. We’ll tell you which package suits the questions you have.
Why us?

Airspace, weather and Brockham roofs
Polesden Lacey, about 4.2 miles west, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Brockham. Older roofs in the wider area can hide decades of patch repairs, so the detail matters, and a listed home or one in a conservation area may need consent for changes of material. Handmade clay tiles and tile-hung walls are typical of Surrey’s older houses. A few of Surrey’s oldest buildings have heavy Horsham stone slab roofs. Steep or complicated roofs are frequently hard to see from ground level, which is where photos from the air and thermal images help.
If you look after a building such as North Downs Primary School, big roofs are where photos from the air and thermal images show the most at once. For an older house near a landmark such as Christ Church, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from the ground, and that’s where a view by drone or thermal camera helps.

What a drone roof survey doesn’t cover
Without opening up the roof, some things stay hidden, so a survey has limits:
- Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission
- Close-up photos of next door’s property
- What’s under the slates, tiles or felt
If in doubt, phone 07833 053749 or email us and we will suggest the right survey. What our survey covers.
Roof types and parts we check
- Flat roofs on upper floors
- Large and complex roofs
- Chimney stacks
- Valleys and parapet gutters
- Tall and steep roofs
- Fragile roofs
What a survey costs
What a survey costs depends on the time and equipment it needs. The main factors are:
- Features like valleys, chimneys, dormers and parapets
- Roof area
- The use of thermal imaging or a drone
- Which survey package you book
Prices quoted always include VAT, and the written report is part of the package. Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. Size, height and access decide where your roof falls.
Booking your survey
There’s no need for technical words. It is enough to tell us:
- Photos of the roof, taken safely from ground level or a window
- The address and postcode of the property
- What’s prompted the survey
- The kind of building and roof involved
A quick phone call is normally the easiest start: call 07833 053749 or use the contact form. The price is agreed before a date is set.
Your questions about drone roof surveys in Brockham
Is Brockham within the area you cover?
Yes, Brockham is on our map. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one, with the route planned beforehand.
Is drone flying allowed in Brockham?
It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. Strong wind or a downpour also stops a small drone flying.
Does someone need to be in?
It depends on what we need to see. For inside areas and the loft space, someone has to give us access; we will agree the details as you book.
Do you carry professional indemnity insurance?
We’re covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance, for every survey we carry out.
Do you need to get into the loft?
If there’s a loft and safe access to it, yes. The roof space can show things the outside can’t, such as damp timbers, staining or daylight.
Do you climb onto every roof?
Not unless it is safe. Safe viewpoints, the loft space and a drone where it applies cover most of what’s needed, and anything out of sight is recorded in the report.
What if it rains on the day?
Some surveys depend on the weather more than others. Drones can’t fly safely in high wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best after a sunny day, with a dry roof and little wind. We will rearrange with you if the weather is not right.
Roof by roof
Large commercial roofs
Cement sheet roofs on buildings from before 2000 may contain asbestos. We don’t test for it, but we flag it and recommend a specialist asbestos surveyor.
Valleys and parapet gutters
Valleys and parapet gutters are hidden from the street. A drone shows linings, joints and build-ups of debris.
What we do, step by step
There isn’t much for you to do on the day. Show us any stains, drips or problem areas you know about, and we will get on with the inspection. The survey itself takes between one and two hours at a typical home, and longer for a large or complex roof. Somewhere like Brockham needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. On the day, we inspect everything that’s safely in view, inside and out.
- You give us the address so we can check the airspace.
- Where a flight restriction zone or restricted area applies, we seek permission first.
- On the day, we check the weather and the site before flying.
- The sub-250g drone takes close-up photos of the roof, kept in sight throughout.
- Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos and recommendations.
Getting ready for the survey
- Keep pets in another room
- Note where any stains or damp appear
- Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors
