Buckskin Drone Roof Survey
Close-up drone photographs of roofs that are hard to reach in Buckskin, using drones and thermal imaging where it applies. Call or email for a price.
- Plant growth and moss on the roof
- Tired mortar and pots at the top of a stack
- Ponding and splits on a high flat roof
Tips that help
You do not need to be a roofer to help. What helps most:
- Clear the loft hatch so we can check inside too
- Keep a clear space in the garden or drive for take-off
- Let us know what you want to see
- Keep pets indoors during the flight
File the report and photos with your home documents. They give you something to compare against later, and they help if you sell.
Look at the roof from ground level after strong winds. Pieces of slate or tile on the ground mean something has moved. A drone can show exactly what has moved.
About our drone roof survey in Buckskin
Our drone weighs under 250g, and we are a CAA-registered drone operator, with a Flyer ID and an Operator ID. We keep it in sight throughout, and well below the 120-metre height limit. Each flight is planned with the site and its surroundings in mind. Before every flight, we check the airspace and the weather. We never fly where it isn’t safe. Typical surveys look at damage after a storm that can’t be seen from below and cracked flaunching or loose chimney pots, across flat roofs on upper floors, chimney stacks and valleys and parapet gutters.
In smaller places like Buckskin, many homes are bungalows and houses with roofs you can partly see from the ground. Chimney tops, valleys and rear slopes are where close-up or thermal images help most. Both depend on the weather on the day. Close-up images often show wear on ridges, verges and flashings that cannot be judged properly from ground level.
How fast the report arrives depends on the package: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day.

How the survey works
We check the roof from outside and, where it is relevant and there is safe access, from inside the loft space too. Inside, we look for staining, damp, gaps and signs of movement. All in, the survey typically takes roughly 1–2 hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Homes around Buckskin often have gardens on more than one side, which gives us room to step back and see the roof. Let us know if any side is fenced off or hard to reach. The loft, where there’s safe access, completes the picture.
- You give us the address and let us know about the roof.
- Any flight restriction at the address is checked, with permission requested if required.
- On the day, we check the wind, weather and site before flying.
- Close-up photos are taken of each slope, chimney, valley and gutter, with the drone always in view.
- We email the report with close-up photos and recommendations.
Before we arrive
- For flats, make sure roof access has been agreed
- Let us know about parking before the day
- Jot down any questions you want answered

When to book a survey in Buckskin
Big commercial and industrial roofs cover a lot of ground. A drone can photograph a large roof methodically. You see the whole roof, not just the parts near an access point.
It’s worth booking a survey if you’ve seen:
- Moss building up on slopes and in gutters
- Blistered or cracked flat roof coverings
- Cracked flaunching or loose chimney pots
- Outlets choked with leaves and silt
The Vyne, about 3.8 miles north-east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Buckskin. Older roofs nearby can be steep and hard to see from ground level, and a survey from the air or with a thermal camera does not touch the roof itself.
Before booking anyone
- When you will get the report
- Whether any drone flown is registered with the CAA
- How much experience they have with roofs like yours
- Will the report include photos?
Drone roof surveys in Buckskin: local notes
Some Hampshire villages still have thatched roofs. Across the South East, older homes tend to have slate or clay tiles, and many later ones concrete tiles. Many roofs like these cannot be judged properly from the pavement, and that’s where a view from above or a thermal image earns its place. The drone we use is under 250g, flown by a CAA-registered operator with a Flyer ID and Operator ID. In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight.
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Chiltern Primary School, a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit. If you look after a shop, office or commercial unit, for instance near The Malls, large commercial roofs are frequently easiest to see from above or with a thermal imager.

Leave it or get it looked at?
Planning roof work without seeing the roof is a gamble. Our report shows the condition of each area. That helps you put the work in order. On a bungalow or cottage around Buckskin, the roof sits close to the rooms below, so a small leak can mark a ceiling within a few storms. Finding the cause first saves a second job inside.
Thermal imaging and drone inspection (where it applies) come with the Premium Survey, which starts from £400, inc. VAT. We can help you choose the package that fits what you’d like to know.

Your questions about drone roof surveys in Buckskin
How do I find out if my home in Buckskin is listed?
The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. It’s worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.
Will you come out to Buckskin?
We do. Villages and rural addresses get the same survey as a town house, with the route planned beforehand.
Do you take photos of the roof?
Yes. We photograph the roof as we go, and they go into the written report alongside our recommendations.
Are you registered with the CAA?
Yes. We’re a CAA-registered drone operator, with a Flyer ID and an Operator ID. We fly a sub-250g drone and keep it in sight at all times.
Do you test for asbestos?
No. We do not carry out asbestos surveys or testing. We flag materials that could contain asbestos, such as cement sheets or soffits on pre-2000 buildings and suggest a specialist asbestos surveyor checks them before any work.
Can you survey at the weekend?
Surveys run on any day of the week. To arrange a date, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form.
How long does a drone roof survey take?
Allow about one to two hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. We will confirm what to expect when we arrange the visit.
Roof by roof
Steep slate and tile slopes
On slate roofs, slipped slates often point to corroded nails. We can see the extent of it from above.
Valleys and parapet gutters
A butterfly roof drains to a central valley gutter. You cannot see it from the street at all, but it’s plain to see from the air.
