FAQs for Goddard's Green

Are there drone restrictions around Goddard's Green?

Usually it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. A small drone can’t fly safely in high wind or heavy rain.

Do you cover smaller places like Goddard's Green?

Yes, Goddard's Green is covered. We cover the whole of London and South East England, from towns to the smallest villages. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.

Do you carry professional indemnity insurance?

Our cover is professional indemnity plus public liability, and we can provide details if a managing agent needs them.

When does the report arrive?

The Premium Survey report comes the same day, the Standard within 24–48 hours and the Basic within 48 hours. All of them come by email.

How much does a drone roof survey cost in Goddard's Green?

Our price is from £400, including VAT. The final figure depends on the roof and the package you choose.

What’s in the survey report?

It sets out what we found, why it matters and what we recommend, with photos throughout. It also says if any part of the roof couldn’t be seen safely, so you know exactly what was covered.

Will you check the loft?

If there’s a loft and safe access to it, yes. From inside, the underside of the roof often shows damp, staining or daylight that can’t be seen from outside.

Drone roof survey in Goddard's Green

Every flight starts with an airspace check. Near protected airports such as Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Luton, flight restriction zones mean permission is needed first. Central London has restricted areas of its own, which need NATS permission. If permission is not given, we inspect by other means and tell you. Prisons have their own drone restriction zones too. If you are worried about debris building up in hidden gutters and worn lead at chimneys and walls, we can find out what’s behind it.

Somewhere as small as Goddard's Green, older roofs are often steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. Close-up drone photos and thermal images help show what can’t be reached safely. Weather and airspace are checked ahead of the visit, and the journey is planned beforehand. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.

With the Standard Survey, you also get moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey goes further, with thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

Roof by roof

Chimney stacks

Our drone check of a chimney is visual, not a flue, gas or sweep inspection. We will say if a specialist is needed.

Valleys and parapet gutters

A butterfly roof drains to a central valley gutter. You can’t see it from the street at all, but it’s plain to see from the air.

Tips that help

Getting the most from a drone roof survey starts before we arrive and carries on afterwards. Some tips:

  • Clear the loft hatch so we can check inside too
  • Keep pets indoors during the flight
  • Let neighbours know about the flight if your roof is shared
  • Let us know the exact address when booking

Your report arrives by email, with close-up photographs from the flight. Each finding is explained in plain words, with recommendations prioritised by urgency where relevant.

Keep gutters, valleys and outlets clear, particularly in autumn. On tall buildings, use a professional with the right access equipment. Blocked hidden gutters cause many leaks.

How the survey works

A survey visit follows a simple order: we hear what you’ve seen, look at the roof from every safe viewpoint, take photos as we go and make notes for the report. Most visits take about 1–2 hours on an ordinary house, and more on a big or complicated roof. Somewhere like Goddard's Green needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. On the day, we inspect what can safely be seen, inside and out.

  1. First comes the address, plus a note of what worries you about the roof.
  2. We check the airspace and seek any permission needed.
  3. On the day, we check the wind, weather and site before flying.
  4. We fly the sub-250g drone close to the roof and photograph each area.
  5. We email the report with close-up photos and recommendations.

Before the survey

  • Note where any stains or damp appear
  • If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building
  • Find any records of previous roof work
