Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Great Rollright
Drone roof surveys are available in Great Rollright and throughout London and South East England, subject to airspace checks and the weather. Flights take place on weekdays and at weekends. Every address is checked for airspace restrictions first. The report includes the drone photos and our recommendations. To check whether your roof suits a drone survey, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email. We survey tall and steep roofs, valleys and parapet gutters and chimney stacks, and common reasons people get in touch are blocked valleys and parapet gutters and ponding and splits on a high flat roof.
Some older homes in villages like Great Rollright are listed or in a conservation area. A look from above or with a thermal imager does not touch the roof, so it’s a gentle way to see the condition of an old roof. Changes that affect a listed building’s special interest need listed building consent, so check with the council first.
The report is written in plain words, so you do not need to be a roofer to follow it. Each point is backed by a photograph where possible, and recommendations are put with the most urgent first where relevant.

Drone roof surveys in Great Rollright: local notes
Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. Older buildings in west Oxfordshire often have Cotswold stone slate roofs, and some Oxfordshire villages still have thatch. Across the South East, older homes tend to have slate or clay tiles, and many later ones concrete tiles. Older coverings on steep or tall roofs are hard to judge from below, so close-up photos from the air and thermal images help.
If you look after a building like Great Rollright Church of England (Aided) Primary School, big roofs are where close-up aerial shots and thermal images show the most at once. Take an older house close to Church of St Andrew: steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from the ground, and that’s where a view by drone or thermal camera helps.
Great Rollright is about 10 miles south-west of Banbury, in Oxfordshire. Signs you need a drone roof survey in Great Rollright
Steep and tall roofs are hard to inspect safely. Tall townhouses, blocks of flats and offices are typical. We fly from ground level and bring the camera close to the roof.
People normally book a survey when they’ve noticed one of these:
- Hidden gutters full of leaves
- Chimney tops in poor condition
- Loose ridge and hip tiles
- Standing water on a flat roof
Historic houses such as Chastleton House, about 4.9 miles west, show how far back building around Great Rollright goes. Close-up aerial shots and thermal images let an old roof be checked without anyone disturbing it.
What to check before booking
- Whether any drone flown is registered with the CAA
- What happens after the report arrives
- What the survey won’t cover
- When you will get the report
How the survey changes by roof type
Valleys and parapet gutters
When a parapet outlet blocks, water can come inside. Outlets and any debris around them are photographed.
Chimney stacks
Our drone check of a chimney is visual, not a flue, gas or sweep inspection. If the flue needs a specialist, we will tell you.
Why act early in Great Rollright
A drone survey disturbs nothing on the roof. Nothing is cracked or dislodged by footsteps, so the survey does not create new problems. Matching old materials, such as handmade tiles or stone slates, can take time to source. Spotting a problem early leaves room to find them.
To find out what your survey will cost, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form with the address and some details. We will confirm the figure before booking.

What happens on the day
We’ll ask a few questions first, about the roof’s history, any leaks and past repairs. Then the inspection itself takes roughly 1–2 hours on an ordinary house, and longer for a large or complex roof. In a hamlet or village like Great Rollright, a postcode does not always lead to the right gate, so a few directions are welcome. The visit itself is the same as anywhere else.
- First, we check the address for flight restrictions.
- If permission is needed, we ask for it ahead of the visit.
- Before the flight, we check the conditions and the take-off spot.
- We fly the drone close to the roof to photograph it in detail, always in sight.
- We email a written report with the photos and our recommendations.
Before the survey
- Jot down any questions you want answered
- For a flat or shared roof, check access with whoever owns or manages the building
- Keep pets in another room
Arrange a survey
We survey roofs on any day of the week. To find a date that works for you, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form with the address and the days you’d prefer.

Tips from our surveys
A survey works best with a little help from you, before and after. Tips:
- Keep a clear space in the garden or drive for take-off
- Give us the full address so we can check the airspace
- Allow for a change of day in poor weather
- A word with neighbours beforehand helps
Keep the photos with your property records. They’re a useful baseline for future surveys, and they help if you sell.
After a storm, check from the garden and the street. Pieces of slate or tile on the ground mean something has moved. A drone can show exactly what has moved.
Your questions about drone roof surveys in Great Rollright
How do I find out if my home in Great Rollright is listed?
Your council is the best source, with Historic England’s list for listed buildings. Both listing and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.
Is drone flying allowed in Great Rollright?
Usually it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.
Will you walk on the roof?
Only if it’s safe. We inspect what can safely be seen: from ground level, from windows and vantage points, from the roof space, from the roof itself where safe and by drone where applicable. Anything we can’t see is noted in the report.
Will you check the loft?
Where it’s relevant to the survey and there’s safe access, yes. Please clear anything stored under the hatch.
Is this an asbestos survey?
No. Our report may flag materials that could contain asbestos, but only a specialist asbestos surveyor can confirm it. Buildings built or refurbished before 2000 may contain it.
I live in a flat. Can you survey the roof?
Yes, as long as access is agreed. The roof of a block or converted house is often shared, so we need permission from the building owner or managing agent. We inspect only the parts we’re allowed to reach.
How experienced are you?
Over 20 years and more than 5,000 surveys, across London and South East England.
